Fantasy Football needs a new name (1 Viewer)

Frankly it is embarrassing to say. I have some friends who don't care about sports let alone fantasy sports, and I can just tell every time I say "fantasy football" they cringe and lose respect for me.

Same with coworkers/bosses. Same with almost every female alive.

It's just a terribly nerdy and unflattering name to attach yourself to.

"Hey, ya wanna go grab a beer tonight?" .........."Nah man, I have a fantasy football draft"..................

It's awful. Needs a new name. It's a worse name than Dungeons and Dragons. A new name would make it far less embarrassing IMO. Let's face it, fantasy sports are embarrassing enough with the embarrassing name.

I could just lie and say work, or painting something, or clean the garage............

Thing is, I want to be able to say what I am doing without feeling like a total :nerd: :nerd: :nerd: :nerd: :nerd: about it

There just has to be a better way to say it. I mean, if I need to go home and mow the lawn, I say I am going to go mow the lawn. I don't say I need to go home and manicure the lawn. Both are the same thing, but one is just....................

Yeah, I think a game of playing make believe about owning other guys in order to stroke ones ego is in need of a tough-sounding name.

You realize its not the name that makes it nerdy...

It's even more embarrassing to say "well, there's this guy I know from this fantasy football message board..."

Man this hits home for me today. Yesterday we had our company golf scramble. I got paired and rode in the cart with the head of R&D. If I could take back anything I said in four hours to this guy it was a conversations between holes we had talking about football starting. Then me asking him if he played fantasy football to which he replied "no". Lol

Love it. People ask where I head about something and I say from a fantasy football message board. They immediately stop listening.

That's the kind of question that could get you promoted or fired.

Just don't talk about it if you play. Never bring it up. There's nothing you can call it that doesn't make it sound juvenile and embarrassing.

and you're worried about the opinion of these nerds? Tell them to butch it up a bit.

No kidding lol

Whenever I hear "Football Manager" I'm reminded that's what FF should be called.

"I have my football manager draft this weekend" still sounds lame but a lot better than a FF draft.

At age twenty I was worried what everyone thought about me.

At age forty I didn't give a #### what anyone thought about me.

At age sixty I realized that nobody was ever really thinking about me in the first place.

Sorry I can't make it, I'm going to have sex with a bunch of cheerleaders.

Sorry I can't make it, me and some buddies are going down to the dump to shoot rats.

Sorry I can't make it, I just scored a nice brick of primo Mexican black tar heroin.

That's more like it. Not embarrassing
