"It’s official: Denali is now the mountain formerly known as Mount McKinley.

With the approval of President Barack Obama, Interior Secretary Sally Jewell has signed a “secretarial order” to officially change the name, the White House and Interior Department announced Sunday. The announcement comes roughly 24 hours before Obama touches down in Anchorage for a whirlwind tour of Alaska."

Official or not, the park has been Denali National Park for quite a while... at least since 1992 when I first went to see "the mountain". Going back to the name used by the locals doesn't bother me a bit. I much prefer that to the USF&G 4 Mile Mountain ;)

Ok, we will call the mountain Denali.. Way to tackle the big issues Obama. Don't get hurt in Kotzebue Obama..
Nice use of relative privation, guy.
Do your students just end up in the fetal position when you are done with them? Serious question. Good lord, you are just awful on every level.
WTF are you talking about? You throw down a logical fallacy in an attempt to make some goofball political statement and now you're butthurt about getting called out?

What does this have to do with my students?

I cant imagine you don't. I can just see a poor kid in your class exercising his own will with an opinion different than yours... Poor kid. :(

if we're going to get into renaming landmarks, let's get something back in the process. Mount Verizon would work just as well.

Wait... You butthurt people now?

Little know fact - before he could change it, he first had to beat a local ski instructor, Thad, in a race on the black diamond run.

Everyone's gonna be all surprised when Obama seizes control of the military and refuses to leave office in 2017. Except me, and I warned you, and you did nothing. Hope you all enjoy your Chili's baby back ribs and your porn while you can, because in a couple years you'll be standing in bread lines.

Eminence hasn't shared his current Twitter account, but I think I found it:

End Cultural Marxism ‏@genophilia

Anti-whites want to remove white names from mountains, money, streets, university buildings, parks, you name it. #MtMcKinley #Denali

Almost all kids have thin skins. That is why a teacher has such a great responsibility. Tanner clearly cares about his own skin more than the youth he teaches. It's sad, he is turning out classroom after classroom of children who's confidence has been shaken and self independence broken. Those poor kids.. :(

Unless they are already getting belted regularly by their parents, they need some toughening up before they face the real world.

Awful schtick. At least I hope it's schtick.

I see what you are saying John. But there is toughening up a kid, and the nut job teacher destroying a kids confidence with his own agenda. Two different things. Those poor kids.. :(

Most likely abused by a teacher when he was young.

He's embarrassed by his hypersensitive reaction to Tanner's mild criticism, and is overcompensating with over-the-top, illogical assumptions and finger wagging.

Let me see if I can help you. Tomorrow in my class:

Kid: did you see that Obama changed the name of that mountain? Why doesn't he take care of some real problems!? Dumb!

Me: That's a good question, Jaedon. And it's great that you're paying attention to current events . Now it seems like the President should be working on other things like the economy or unemployment instead of worrying about the name of some mountain, right? But you know what? He can actually do both. That's part of being a leader. Doesn't matter if you're the President or a governor or the mayor of a city.

We can even use our principal as an example. If Mr. Woodman is outside making sure kids aren't running in the halls or if he's congratulating the marching band for their great performance last week that doesn't mean he's not working on improving test scores or trying to keep the busses on time.

I mean it is OK to criticize the president if you really don't think he's doing his job but just keep in mind that just because he's doing one thing doesn't mean that's all he's doing. See what I'm saying?

Kid: Yeah. I guess maybe I was wrong.

Me: Don't feel bad about it. It's a pretty common thing to do. And you're only 13. There are grown men on the Internet that don't get it.

No John, I grew up in a fantastic environment, especially the schools I attended. Talented, uplifting teachers were the norm. Tanner would of never got a job in the school district I grew up in. Bless those teachers. I'm a confident well rounded person. Shame on you Rudi Stein, shame on you...!!!
