The one that I heard that I liked was "Allies".

Dakota means "Ally" in the Dakota language. And North Dakota has a history of alliances. Both between tribes and the tribes and settlers.

Nodak is a shortening of North Dakota I presume. Hopefully get some imagined mascot like the Gorlok.

Seems like the simplest answer would be the Fighting Sue

I like how it has to be the Fighting Hawks. You know, so they're not confused with the Pacifist Hawks or perhaps the Unilaterally Disarmed Hawks.

I think all NCAA teams should have to have names like U10/U8/U6 AYSO teams: you have to include the color of the jersey.

UCLA= Blue Bruins

LSU = Purple Tigers

etc

Screw these Indians. They don't like "Fighting Sioux". They piss and moan about a good name.

New team name. The Fighting Custers!

or using his initials. The Fighting GACs!

I am surprised Roughriders made it through the PC filter. It is insenstive to the victims of the Spanish-American War afterall.

Just looked up the old name. What is wrong with the "Fighting Sioux"? There in nothing wrong with it.

Ornithologists are united against Fighting Hawks, indicating that some species of hawk are actually quite peaceful.

There's lots of reasons, but it comes down to one tribe couldn't extort enough money for it's usage so they wouldn't allow it at which point the NCAA made a play to exert it's power.
Oh wah wah wah, a tribe doesn't like it.

Screw them. The name was just fine.

Political Correctness run amok.

Way to notice things.

Yard Goats

There were six or so choices that the Hartford locals were given to vote on for the team name. So the locals decided to intentionally vote for the silliest name. And it won. :thumbup:
