I predict Tanaka strikes out seven or gives up three HRs. Maybe both and probably in five innings or less.

 
How long do they leave in Keuchel?

I'd let him go 110 pitches unless we increase lead to five or more and even then let him go eight innings.

And I can't believe they're not putting in Marisnick for Gonzales.

ETA -- If by some act of God, my Buccos find a way to beat Arrieta tomorrow night, they better damn well celebrate with champagne (or something else).

I wonder if it has anything to do with the Kang incident from several weeks ago. Perhaps the Cubs think that he may get rattled by the crowd?

The crowd's going to be ape#### anyways. That doesn't seem like enough reason to move two guys out of position AND swap out an inferior hitter.

Coghlan also does well against fastballs and sliders, LaStella fastballs/curveballs. Cole's slider is much better than his curve, and he throws it 3x as much.

 
I guess it says something positive about this board that Jessica Mendoza hasn't been mentioned. Anybody sounds intelligent next to John Kruk.

Yup i'm not saying I agree with the decision. Just trying to find an explanation. Perhaps Maddon doesn't like the mental toughness of Coghlan? Questionable lineup decisions by both teams so it will be interesting to see the 2nd guessing after this game.

Another reason not to like one game playoffs. Players look forward to post-season action for their entire careers only to be relegated to the bench due to a pitching matchup or managerial decision.

 
Hey Pirates fans. Who is that creepy porn guy working as a vendor behind home plate. He comes down and just sits there - noticed him during Cardinal Series.

 
And the world gets to watch the sorry a@@ mets instead of both of these teams, not right. But then I pretty bitter right now.

Game was over after the first inning. I really felt that Cole needed to come out with an absolute dominant inning in the first for the team to have any shot. He came out shaky and has probably pitched one of his worst games all season. Such a disappointment to go down like this after a 98 win season but still proud of what these guys accomplished.
