Is seeing an NFL game in person as horrible everywhere? (1 Viewer)

Rams games are the suck and I probably won't have to worry about it in the near future. There are an endless amount of penalties and SO boring. Nonstop TV timeouts. I left early the last two weeks because I just couldn't take it anymore. This isn't the game I grew up with and love. It's as bad as going to church.

I would also like to thank the Rams for closing the concession stands in our section and getting rid of all the beer vendors. I hope Kroneke gets monkey AIDS.

My favorites are the ######## opposing fans who have been drinking all day and spilling beer all over people after every first down, raising their hands(and beers) with a look at me attitude - signalling first down. Most are wearing a jersey of some loser who no longer plays for that team.

That and the drunk idiots waving their hands in the air, spilling beer on everyone around them, telling people to stand up and MAKE IT LOUD!!!!!!!!!

The TV timeouts and price increases were why I gave up my four aisle seats in Foxboro after the Bledsoe era ended. I went to a game in the new stadium and hated it. So slow.

I love going to NFL games. Not that I don't like watching a game on TV, but for me it isn't comparable to the atmosphere of being there. I have a bunch of great people in the seats around me that make the experience even better.

Sure there is some downside, like the cost, I still think is worth it. Really the worst thing about it has been the long stretches of the team sucking.

Sorry your experience with the Rams hasn't been better Bob.

Also... I can't vouch for the time-space continuum anywhere else... but the length of the breaks in the game last the same whether I'm there in person or if I am watching them on TV. ;)

And I spend most of them talking football with the people around me, watching the highlights of other games, or checking the game thread in the forum here. Not all that much different than if I was at home.

That slick cement surface around the outside of the field is horrible. By far my least favorite part about rams games

In Tampa and Miami you have all this, plus it's like 105 degrees and humid. So that's fun.

I used to love watching the Chargers at the Q, but I stopped because it's not worth the drive to SD to pay $100+ for tickets to not even have a good view of the game.

I can't even get myself to go when tickets are offered to me. It's crazy, but I'd rather go to a pre-season game than regular season. Totally different atmosphere.

I went to the Giants/Redskins game on Thursday night last month... I had a great time, then again I was drunk, really really drunk. I think I had a great time.

I was at the Broncos @ Rams game last year and had a great time. Rams defense made Peyton look like Orlovsky. We had great seats and I was annihilated, but I'll betcha I still would've had a good time moderately buzzed.

And I disagree that it sucks going to games in general.

If you don't stand the entire time you're not a real fan too.

Probably a reason there is a good chance the Rams move back to LA.

Why'd they stop selling beer in your section?
Who knows why they do the #### they do. They have one place selling liquor that's run by two broads that can't add and move like they're being paid to NOT sell drinks. There's always 15-30 people in line at all times for the privilege of spending $17 for a single shot mixed drink. It's ####### unbelievable.

I saw the Rams in TB about a decade ago. CRAZY amount of hot chicks there. That alone was worth the price of admission.

Also, going to a game (any game) you need one of two things:

  • Waiter service
  • Seats with access to nearby private bars and restrooms
Usually they go hand in hand, but these amenities make the game so much more enjoyable. I was at the Yankee Wildcard game last month, specifically bought seats that had waiter service, the machines were down so they only accepted cash, which I had very little of... Even when we did pay cash, due to the computer systems being down, it took like 2 innings to get a beer delivered - Miserable, really negated the experience.

That's why I was asking. It seriously sucks here though unless you like flags. Lots, and lot, and lots, of flags.

Sikeston? Stanberry?
:lmao:

I've had Ravens tix since they got here and I would love to sell my tix and PSL. Unfortunately my pops loves to go so I pay for the season tix and go for him. I'd way way way rather watch it at home. And now my teen son has started to love to go too so I'll probably be in the same boat even with my pops can't go anymore.

My last time attending a game was a Niner game at their new stadium last year. Fancy new stadium, good team, should be a great day out, right?

Nope, The parking lot still required a 45 minute walk to your seat. Half of the stadium is on the sunny side but the other side is much taller so it creates a shadow on the field preventing you from really seeing anything. It's tough to even find good ball game food because the concession stands are filled with Gluten-free tofu curry stands sponsored by Oracle, Of course you still have all the usual drunk douchebags in oversized Montana jerseys all over the place spreading their ##### stench all over. Some how these people are able to get a day off from McDonalds and afford the $100+ tickets.

Then on the way out, the wonderful architects who designed the stadium made it so that the entire stadium funnels out of two, maybe three exits. Then, you get to sit in your car for an hour before you can even move out of your parking spot.

Might be situational, but in genral it's not a good time. I've turned down 3 ticket opportunities this year.

I'm a Lions fan so I've never really been to a meaningful game

In general it's pretty lackluster and I have no plans to go anytime soon, but I could see being at a game chearing a team with actual playoff aspirations being fun and making the hassle of parking and dealing with drunk idiots while I sit in tiny seats in the upper deck and pay lots of money for beer be worth it (I do it for baseball  )

NCAAF games are usually fun

Yep or at the bar. I would also like to thank to NFL for making us by playoff tickets before the season even starts. Hateful.

Yeah this is the mentality that is killing the experience of going to games. Can't blame franchises for cashing in on it though.

people go just to say they were there. The same reason people do 90% of the crap they do

I've been to a lot of stadiums and games at M&T are the "best". ######## ratio seems to be lower than average.Eta- D-bag is censored. I didn't even think I spelled it right.

I go to Saints games with family, and have a great time at the game itself. They have always had a beer cart by the game but now they also sell the bomber bottles of Abita Abbey Ale, which is awesome. Also several selections of Goose Island brews. The cost of tix has gotten out of hand though, and 11.00 for a beer now, it's nuts. We were plenty happy with the old 5.00 Dome Foam and 3.00 Dome Dogs. We tailgate which saves money, but we are just into it as a family experience.

I was at the Mets game on Friday night, the experience was fantastic. I was in the upper upper deck, 2 rows from the top of the stadium. I was concerned that getting a beer or waiting on lines would ruin the experience.

Whatever they're doing at Citifield, they are doing properly - I was drinking beer at a pace I've never accomplished at a ballgame, roughly 1.5 beers per inning - They have a huge beer concession stands right behind home plate in the upper deck loaded with like 50 different kinds of beer, and for whatever reason there was never a line. Finish my two beers, walk down and get two more, 3 minutes. Huge food concessions in this section there as well, never a line. Bathroom, never had to wait more than 3-4 minutes. They set that stadium up properly. In fact, the only line I remember waiting on was to get into the concession stand to buy a program.

On the other end of the spectrum, there is no worse stadium to attend than Arthur Ashe for the US Open. Getting a drink, 30 minutes. Getting food, 20 minutes. Taking a piss, 10 minutes, unless you wait until the end of the match, 30 minutes.

Prefer the sports bar, but Jerry World was pretty cool, if you don't mind the second mortgage

A few years ago I could have bought Bengals playoff tickets the day of the game. I didn't. Not worth it. Watched it at home.

I did go to three Ohio State Buckeye's games last year, including the Michigan game. Awesome experience!!!

If I had Chetbux I might go to a game now and again, but otherwise I don't bother. I have a close friend who lives in J'Ville and has Jags season tickets so sometimes when the Steelers come to town, he'll offer me a free seat. Even with that, I don't always go. 3 hour drive each way, $50 to park, $13 beers in the stadium, takes an hour just to get out of the parking lot after the game. Too much hassle. I'm perfectly fine sitting in my giant recliner and watching games at home. I've been to enough sporting events and concerts in my life where the atmosphere isn't a novelty anymore. Also, since I'm not from here, any time I go to a game, it's in the opposing team's stadium. Although, every Steelers/Jags game I've been to, it's at least 50% Steelers fans.

I guess I'd always assumed that terrible game day experiences were confined to Redskins games. My brother and I had season tickets for one season before getting rid of them, because:

Fed Ex isn't near anything

Parking costs and arm and a leg and is nowhere near the stadium; getting out of the lot after a game takes several hours.

The Skins' "sellout" streak is maintained in part by having the stadium overrun by visiting fans. This is understandable for division games and with popular teams like the Steelers and Packers. Its kind of inexplicable with the Bucs or Bengals.

Drunk, belligerent people suck.

Having the stadium PA blare Who Let The Dogs Out on every decent defensive play (and informing you when its 3rd down) is excruciating (yes, this was over 10 years ago, but it doesn't appear to have gotten better).
