For some reason every time I hear certain players mentioned a nick name just comes to my head for that player. Here are some of them (for entertainment purses ONLY. No ill will implied...just rhymes):

Theo Riddik-ulous

Brent "hear me now" Celek-tor (grand puba fans will get this one)

Adrian beat-her-son

Sam BADford.

Randal corn on the Cobb

Robert griffin the turd

Tony homo

Brandon cooks the books.

Willie Snead Gd bless you!

Justin Phuker.

Jimmy graham cracker

Ray louise

Jay chicken cutlet

Captain Kirk cousins.

That's about all off the top of my head. Yes, dumb irrelevant post...just some thanksving fun.

Looks like Chris Berman's legacy is secure.

I know, right? Berman's act wore thin like 20 years ago, and yet somehow people still think it's funny to give athletes nicknames based on puns of their names.
Personally I don't think Bernard act ever wore thin. He was always and always will be the most animated and fun sports anchor to watch. I loved his funny names for the players.

Funny, when I think of my names for players and read all of these listed here in this thread, not once did I even think of Chris Berman though. Only now just thought of him BC he was mentioned by you guys.

Mean Joe Greene. Ed Too-Tall Jones. Billy White Shoes Johnson. Christian the Nigerian Nightmare Okoye. **** Night Train Lane. O.J. Juice Simpson. Ken The Snake Stabler. Hacksaw Jim Reynolds. William the Refrigerator Perry. Jerome the Bus Bettis.

Eta: not sure about Hacksaw Jim Reynolds

Second Eta that these obviously aren't my own personal nicknames. Maybe those of you who do have your own can have them memorialized if they are deemed catchy enough as time goes by.

I'm curious: How old are you? Not trying to troll, just wondering if it's a generational thing. I'm 42, and back when I started watching ESPN in the late '80s I thought Berman was the funniest thing going. There really was no one else doing the kind of stuff he did. Now it's almost like one of those Borscht Belt comics still doing the same shtick all those years later. (It also doesn't help that people have been ripping off his nickname thing for as long as he's been doing it.)
