Pittsburgh at Seattle (1 Viewer)

not a fan of either team but Seattle has been gifted this game
G T F O that is such bull#### from the guy with 10 posts.
lol you definitely don't know me, been around since yellow board just a new name
Fair enough. But the crying about the refs in this game is really weak. Two middling teams played a good, close game. One of them made more plays at the end.

That's the end of the story.

Serious question. I don't get the hate for this guy. Sherman, Lynch, Wilson even I get.

Carroll is just a positive guy, doesn't act like a jackass. Doesn't complain about refs after the game or talk ####.
Well, he is a 9/11 truther...

But yeah, he's a good coach.
The 9/11 truther stuff is pretty :bag:

I'm going to chose that he was just messing with the writer on that one.

It was a good game but a few bad calls and missed calls swung it to the home team. Officiating across the board has been bad this year from college to pros.

Can't believe you're blaming the refs for that loss. I don't think either team dominated but the Steelers sure as hell didn't deserve to win. Both teams will have to play much better than this to have any shot at going far.

Stupid concussion protocol
Failed again!

ETA: I mean it might not have been obvious that Ben was "getting his head straight" after the hit. it should have been enough to warrant a check with him just relaxing first on top of the pile and then on the ground while the penalties are sorted out.

Don't know. I think it's his o er exuberance on every play.

I'm sure he's a swell guy you know minus all those ncaa infractions :P
The cheerleading can be annoying if you are playing against him but he is seriously just a positive dude. Would much rather have a guy like this than a Harbaugh type.

Don't all the big schools fudge the rules a little in the NCAA

I like Tomlin overall, and I'm sure he's a good motivator/players coach/etc. However, he is a terrible game day coach.

I'm lukewarm on the hyper aggressive style, but if he's gonna do that he needs to stick with it. I mean going for 2 when up by only 2 in the 3rd quarter is pretty suspect IMO but whatever. Now, taking the FG on 4th down with 3 minutes left in the game was absolutely horrible! No matter how aggressive a coach is, going for the TD there is the right call... so it's inexcusable for Tomlin to go for the FG there given his extremely aggressive style. Just dumb.

Yeah this is what shocked me. He's been an extremely aggressive coach this year, knows he has the best offense in football and still elects to kick a FG in that situation? Mind boggling decision and I feel like I'm saying that once every 2 or 3 games about his play calling.

I think the fg was the correct call there. If pit holds them there on 3rd and forces them to punt, they are driving for a game winning fg with 2 timeouts.

I don't believe the refs cost Steelers this game but they certainly gifted the Seahawks with some extra opportunities and Seahawks took advantage. When you're defense is as bad as Steelers secondary was today you can't afford to allow an opponent to have extra opportunities especially when you are playing on the road... Shermans INT was classic illegal contact as it's been called tightly this yr (although I believe those shouldn't be called that tight)

I think the fg was the correct call there. If pit holds them there on 3rd and forces them to punt, they are driving for a game winning fg with 2 timeouts.
I was relieved when they kick the FG. If you take the FG, you have to:

1. Make the FG

2. Force Seattle to punt

3. Drive long enough to kick another FG

4. Make the other FG

If you go for it, you have to:

1. Get 2 yards

2. Force Seattle to punt

Maybe advanced stats show I'm wrong, but it seems like Pit would have had a much better chance to win by going for it on 4th, but they would have won or lost the game right there, and coaches don't seem to like to lose the game right there.

That interception ruling was garbage.
Such a tough rule. Objectively, it "looked" like an interception. Sort of like how Calvin's, Dez's, and ODB's all looked like catches. But I think, by rule, it's not a catch.
Exactly my thoughts
It was nothing like those plays.

He had it, landed on the ground, rolled out of bounds, stood up with the ball, and only then had it ripped out of his hands.

Trust me, if Walt Coleman can see it, anyone can.

I'm surprised anyone is complaining about this. To me the question was if it was in bounds or not. Chancellor had been on the ground with control for a while out of bounds before the defender ripped the ball out.

No, the advanced metrics definitely called for going for the TD there.

Also, even if they don't get the TD, they wouldn't have lost the game right there. Over 3 minutes to go and two timeouts.

If you're going to trust your defense to get the ball back anyway, you have to go for the TD there.

Dumb, dumb call on Tomlin's part. Overrated coach.

If they had gone for it, why would they have "won or lost the game right there"? Even if they failed, they still have an opportunity to make a stop and get the ball back.

Good point. Even dumber than I thought then.

There is no defending that call. It's just shocking given how aggressive Tomlin has been all year. It seems like he just clamped up.

To Seattle's credit, they needed to put that game away and their elite QB did exactly that. I still truly believe that if the Steelers get into the playoffs, they could certainly get to the Super Bowl. The problem is that there is a good chance they don't get into the playoffs.

Yeah I really hate his in game coaching... He is STILL making the same mistakes about the timeouts week in and week out... Case in point today... 2 time outs left and 2nd down play for Seahawks with 2:57 on clock... Rawls runs for no gain... No timeout... Tick tick tick tick tick... Then Baldwins TD (2:12 on clock at snap) so Tomlin isn't getting skewered for bad decision to let clock run... Imagine Baldwin is tackled short of first down... Steelers take timeout around 2:06 ish... Punt brings 2 minute warning... Now Steelers would have ball with 2 mins and 1 timeout... Now imagine Tomlin pulls his head out of his butt and calls his timeout after second down... Does that change a play call for Seattle? Maybe... Does it allow Defense to work up a better coverage? Maybe... At the very least it gives you a much better chance to save 30 seconds plus and means you can actually use the 2 minute warning as a de facto timeout on OFFENSE...Plus the fake FG is ######ed... If you dont shift out of FG formation then maybe you have the element of surprise... Once you shift it becomes either a pooch punt or a pass play... Basically you're telling Seattle to be ready for anything especially razzle dazzle weird stuff... Miller goes in motion and lane stays put so clearly not man to man but a zone... Shoulda either taken penalty if you wanted to punt or call timeout and kicked field goal...

If you really wanted to go for it then use your Hall of Fame QB

ETA: I just edited to complain about being censored for the word re tar ded... When I drive through my neighborhood the sign says "end of brake re tar der zone"... When did this word become not politically correct? It is in fact the technical term for slow no? I have 2 aunts and a cousin who work with mentally challenged children in the classroom and 2 sons and a nephew with 'spectrum' learning disabilities... Greg Hardy is more offensive than that word that I used

:lmao: 2 Super Bowl victories, 40,000+ yards and still several good seasons ahead. Stick to discussing Seahawks related topics.
