Hi All,

Anyone have any IDP guys they have stashed or want to stash for 2016?

I may grab Shaq Barret in one league.

Others available

Markus Golden

Kyle Emanuel

ZaDarius Smith

any 2-3rd year players expected to make a jump in 2016?

Thanks,

B

Frank Clark.

Shaq Thompson.

Jacquiski Tartt.

(If your league is shallow enough that these guys aren't rosters on devy squads...)

Jene's Reading The Defense from week 13 (I think) was on this topic. If you're a subscriber, check it out.

Guys on my 4 teams that are future-only:

Damontre Moore

Denico Autry

Dante Fowler

Frank Clark

Owamagbe Odighezuwa (nailed the spelling!)

LBs:

Jonathan Anderson

Daryl Washington

Denzel Perryman

Jake Ryan

Paul Dawson

Jerod Mayo

Nate Palmer

DBs:

Clayton Geathers

Adrian Amos

Mayo and Washington are interesting gambles that were on waiver wires here and there all season. Otherwise, it's basically rookies and second year players who stuck on rosters of 4-3 teams.

Tartt's a good call - I had him, dropped him, and missed out when I tried to get him back.

So what is the story on rookie FA CHI LB Timu? Comes up from the practice squad and dopes well. Not even listed on MFL...

Looks like Anderson and Jones are not the players we thought they were?

The kid looked good and would have had a couple more tackles if those holds weren't called.

Fox seems impressed with him and given Jones was a healthy scratch, I think Timu is a definite must add to see what he can do in these next two weeks.

KC's Justin March is probably not worth an add in most leagues yet, but should be one to closely monitor, IMO. Missed this entire year due to a torn meniscus, but was really lighting it up in OTAs/Training Camp/Preseason. Looked like the best ILB on KC's roster not named Derrick Johnson.

Anything to see with the Thomas dude in Miami at S? Has been steady for about a month and had the big blow up game last week, and that's even playing alongside tackle hog Jones.

Homers have any insight? All I have to go by is snap count data. Haven't watched a singled Miami game in a couple of seasons. Isn't Jones getting up there, age-wise?

Whatever happened to Ramik Wilson? Didn't he start 2 games and then had an ankle injury? Never seemed to make it back in the lineup after that.

Came in here to add him.

He's pretty much Josh Mauga 2.0 from what I've seen. Pretty good in coverage, but generally non-aggressive and slow to get off blocks. Lets the plays come to him, doesn't go attack. Just very unspectacular. From the little bit I've seen of March, he appears to be more aggressive in the run game (which KC could use). Not bad in coverage either.

As far as Wilson's injury, I really thought he was going to get the starting gig back once he was healthy again - but he and Mauga are so close in skill set, I'm guessing the staff chose Mauga's experience. Hasn't really been a terrible decision, Mauga has made some decent plays these last couple weeks.

I may have picked up the wrong guy in a deep league when I took dj Alexander.

How about Sean Weatherspoon. Torn achilles cost him 2014. Signed 1 year deal with Arizona and early injuries set him back, never getting a starting role. Former 1st round draft pick, now a free agent with previous success and only 28 years old.

Oh crap - do I have to pick up Brandon Graham again this offseason in case they go 4-3?

ramik wilson might be ahead of him though.
Posted this upthread about Wilson:

I think given the Chiefs' current ILB corps, it's a possibility that March nabs a starting spot next to Johnson next year. He did start with the 1st-teamers against Arizona in KC's first preseason game iirc, ahead of Mauga, Wilson, and Alexander. We'll have to see if he looks the same post-injury.

it is going to be one of the camp and OTA situations to monitor, i think. it's not like Ramik did poorly from a production standpoint. it's nice that March got some praise in this offseason and has some buzz though.

Does the injury to a certain stud LB on the same team open the door for March?

Love to hear from Tick on these players............. but any hardcore IDPer can weigh in....

let's talk some IDP stashes/breakouts- any thoughts on these players?

1)Todd Davis(Den)- with Trevathan gone and Johnson a possible holdout, is this special teamed poised for a bigger role?

2)Sio Moore(IND)- Jerrell Freeman is out of Indy, and Moore has has some off season missteps- but all I hear about is Nate Irving, who is never healthy

3)Gerald Hodges(SF)- Traded during the season last year, he was an upgrade over Wilhoite and seemed to excel when he got playing time, but Chip Kelly is over there now and who knows what he's thinking

4)John Timu/Johnathon Anderson(CHI)- obviously the Trevathan/Freeman signings hurt their value, but both seemed to do okay when they got a chance to play. Which one(if either)has better chance to accel once they become a FA?

5)Christian Kirksey(CLE)-Karlos Dansby/Craig Roberston are gone- and Demario Davis is in, but does Kirksey have what it takes to be a 3 down LB or is he a 2 down Thumper?

6)Mason Foster(WAS)-he seemed to do well once Robinson was benched(now in NYG)- he'll never be elite but seems to be liked by Washington

7)Arthur Brown(BAL)-he was highly touted out of college, but has barely played in any games? Victim of circumstance or just not that good?

8)Anthony Hitchens(DAL)-McClain re-signed for one year, but Hitchens seemed to played well when filling in for Lee/McClain-why can't he get a shot at full time?

9)Devon Kennard(NYG)- Giants LB's have been a mess for years- will he have a shot at a full time role this upcoming season?

10)Owamagbe Odighizuwa(NYG)- JPP re-signed for a year and Vernon got five years- I hear that he struggled as a rookie and may not pan out? Any thoughts?

Anyone with feedback or insight, feel free to reply.

DLs:

     1) Danielle Hunter (DE - MIN) looks to be a beast in Minnesota.

     2) Jabaal Sheard (DE - NE) played outstanding football last year for NE; strong against both run and pass.  Wouldn't be surprised if the Pats moved him around both inside and outside on the line.

     3) Aaron Lynch (DT - SF) had a strong 2nd year, snap count really went up as the year went on.  Struggled against the run his first year and a half, but really came on strong in the 2nd half of last season.

     4) Devin Taylor (DE - DET) has been hyped for a couple of years now, but with the Jones moving on in free agency should get a chance to really get after the QB.  7 sacks and 27 solos last year despite logging only 500 snaps.  Could be a monster in a full-time role.

     5) Henry Anderson (DE - IND) is a favorite of mine.  Under-rated and under-appreciated coming out of college.  He was a monster in week1 last year, but put up solid tackles despite being in a limited role the next few games before being injured in week 9.  May not be immediately ready for the start of the season though.  I just have a hunch he's going to be a really good player.

LBs:

     1) Christian Kirksey (LB - CLE) has a lot of upside.  Dansby has moved on to Cincy, leaving a HUGE opportunity for him to fill that role.  It's the same position that made D'Qwell Jackson a stud before Dansby.  Could immediately vault into top-tier LB category.

     2) Jordan Hicks (LB - PHI) lots of changes in Philly this year; Kiko Alonso to Miami and DeMeco Ryans released.  Hicks put up monster numbers doing fill-in duty last year.  Expect big numbers as a full-time starter in the middle.

     3) Zachary Orr (LB - BAL) is another 2nd year guy with a great opportunity.  He's slated to replace Daryl Smith in the middle of Baltimore's defense, which has always been a tackle friendly and productive position.

DBs:

     1) Clayton Geathers (S - IND) is a true in-the-box safety in the mold of Mark Barron (in fact these two are almost identical in size).  He's a thumper who I believe will put up great numbers for the Colts.  If you're league is all about INTs, then he may not be your guy.  But if you want consistent tackles with the occasional forced/recovered fumbles and a handful of sacks, then this is a guy for you.

     2) Shawn Williams (S - CIN) is finally going to get his shot as a starter in Cincy.  He'll fill the SS role with George Iloka kicking over to the free safety position.

     3) Jahleel Addae (S - SD) may not be the same caliber of player as Eric Weddle, but he'll get opportunity to fill his same role in San Diego.  And as we all know, that has been a very lucrative position in San Diego.

Aaron Lynch is an OLB, not a DT. If they ever move to a 4-3, he could move to a DE. But DT won't ever happen, and DE won't happen in 2016.

Quinton Copels DE Rams. He's a former first rounder and finally in a 4-3 so he gets to play in his natural position. MFL still has him as an LB but that will change once they do their positional changes due to him being a DE on rotoworld.

I'm just some dude, certainly not the site expert.

Davis - I doubt it.  Everyone's got a special teamer, they rarely get a shot.  When they do, they rarely hit.

Moore - yes, definitely worth a shot.  Seems fairly skilled and is in a good situation.

Hodges - no idea with Chip in town... everyone gets shuffled, I'd think.

Chicago guys - nah.  They had chances, which is why Trevathan and Freeman were signed.  I wouldn't hold either (and let Anderson go in all my leagues this offseason).

Kirksey - no reason to think he'll take advantage by now, but still worth a shot due to situation with Dansby gone.  Robertson isn't a guy I'd roster - too many chances with nothing to show for it.

Foster - I picked him up for the same reasons, but who knows how it will shake out between Compton, Riley, and Foster.

Brown - I gave up on him awhile back, but with Smith gone, he could be the second guy... I'd put him pretty far down the list, but it seems like he should be on someone's roster in each league.

Hitchens - worth a shot at the end of the roster.  He's had chances and hasn't really taken them, but McClain isn't really reliable.

Kennard - Meh, I pick him up, he's mediocre, I drop him.  Repeat.  I'm just personally tired of him, but he probably should be on a roster.

OO - I'm holding him, but the signings weren't good.  Seems like the 4-3 DE is dying, so I'll hold him for a year.  I haven't heard anything about him not working out.

what about Howard Jones? LB on MFL, DE on rotoworld so should be reclassified for 2016. Had 5 sacks in limited action.

Pack just released Nate Palmer, San Barrington?, but feel they'll draft someone in the early rounds this time.

Derrick Shelby is a DE to take a look at. Signed a nice contract with Atlanta and lots of rushing chances coming. Played well last year for Wake

Many of these are gone already after free agency period.

Guys I'm stashing now who weren't good last season:

DL: Shelby, Branch, Clayborn, DMoore, Odighizuwa, Curry, Graham, MEdwards, Clark

LB: Washington, Weatherspoon, Foster, Riley, Ryan, Dawson

DB: Amos, Geathers, Ishmael

I haven't picked up Barrington, but he's on my list - probably will pick him up if I can do it for almost nothing.

There's a lot of excitement for Tartt, but the 49ers still have Antoine Bethea for another year. Are we a year early on Tartt? I picked up Clayton Geathers instead because I know he's starting this year.

Looks like Bethea is on the block.

They said they liked him last year, you probably can, I think he was more a run stuffer and they may pick up a good LB in the draft. They tried getting by with cheap safeties, then finally drafted someone high, think they may do that again.
