Any dentists in the house? (1 Viewer)

I just had a crown installed on tooth #30 yesterday. There was decay and an old filling was removed to prepare the tooth for the crown. In the past, from time to time, this tooth could hurt a little and was a little sensitive, but for the most part, didn't give me any problems.

After the novacaine wore off, I notice that there is some pain associated with the tooth (2 out of 10 for pain). It is now 24 hrs and I am wondering if the slight ache will subside or will they eventually have to do a root canal?

Also if they have to do this, can they just drill right through the crown?

Thanks!

BTW, the dentist that I go to makes the permanent crowns on premises so that you do not need to return and never have a temporary crown.

why not just call your actual dentist?

More than likely, you'll need a root canal. Ever have one before? They're not bad at all.

I've had 6 or 7 to this point. Terrible genetics I have, thx dad.

Have you paid your bill?
Yes. I paid for the crown already - hoping I don't need a new one now
ok, good news, i'll let your dentist know to turn off the pain sensor in your crown that we put in standard now to ensure people pay their bills. Must have malfunctioned.

you won't need a new crown.

you may need a RCT

they can drill through the crown

Well, poop

If you are only brushing once a day and are only flossing a few times a month "when you think about it", this will probably happen to you.

I got lazy for a few years once and wasn't really flossing (still brushed 2x daily). Hit the dentist and they broke out the Cavitron for about an hour. I now brush 2-3x daily and floss 7-10x a week and was told by a former president of the ACP that I now have great teeth.

I floss and brush twice a day. I should be good then, right?

Too early to call for a root canal. Sometimes it takes a number of days to "settle down."

Pain 2/10? Get back on the field and see what happens.
