Man, cruises are GREAT! First, you get to wait in a long line that makes TSA security look like a line go buy a Slurpee to board your floating petri dish. Once you spend several hours under fluorescent lights to board, you can unwind in the hot tub with fun and sexy strangers from the midwest. Since you got a smoking hot deal on the cruise, you're shown to your estate room by a perky Romanian gal who waits by your door with her hand out for a tip. Get used to that. Also get used to the scenic beauty of the vast ocean. After you stare at grey skies and murky water for several hours, you'll probably develop a hunger from some terrific cruise line food. Don't worry, feeding several thousand people is easy and if you like the Golden Corral, you're in heaven, man. After ingesting 3 lbs of jello salad and meat product, you'll probably need to take a massive dump in your plush bathroom. You might want to practice wiping your butt in a phone booth before you onboard. At night, you might want to take in some entertainment. Surely they have some live bands or hip DJs on board, right? If for whatever reason they didn't make it to your ship, you'll probably love drunk people doing Karaoke for the next 7 nights. There's always excursions to keep you entertained; nothing like pulling into port and rushing out to find more businesses that are only there because of tourism. More hands out. More lines to get back on the boat. More metal detectors and security pat-downs to make sure you didn't buy in booze to sneak back into their boat. Can't be having folks drinking and not paying through the nose for their watered down drinks and crappy beers. When you're all done; when the party is over and when you're gathering email addresses of the Clampetts, you get to settle your tab. You remember the debit card they gave you at the start? Each time you used that for anything, it was racking up dollar dollar bills, yo. Bend over, lube up, it's not the parting gift you were hoping for.

I love movie theaters. I love seeing anything on the big screen - grab a popcorn and a soda, kick back, watch some previews, and lose myself for a couple hours. I’ll continue to go to theaters as long as I can.

CCL Best balance sheet of all the cruise lines. But any of these companies as well as airlines can file for organized bankruptcy if they do not recover fast enough and who cares about the common stockholders. The last in line. But with funny money CCL would be my bet to emerge and recover the best. It has been shorted and covered too many times already to count. It is simply a casino out there in a lot of these travel and leisure stocks as well as restaurant stocks. As irrational the market was on March 16th-23rd (best sale on stocks we have had in over 10 years) it is being equally irrational the past few weeks on the upside. I expected by year end to be here. Not in one month. People don’t want to hear this, but this is again a typical pattern of a bear market. The Shock and Awe drop, the snap back rebound (aided by the bazooka known as the Fed) and then reality will set in over the next several months when the dust settles that a lot of small business are done permanently, some of the job losses are going to linger for a while, spending will drop, consumption will drop and then we will have some real forward guidance going into 2021 on the economy. I was buying for the very long term back in March. I don’t care about a second drop.....which will happen make no mistake. It will. People buying stocks right now better be thinking long long term. Because if your trading.....I am not seeing incredible value right now based on what is to come in the economy. But I guess common sense is being thrown out the window......because this market at this very moment.....makes no sense. There is no fundamental reason stocks should have rallied almost 30% off the bottom. 15%? Yeah.....reasonable. That is a natural thing in an oversold market. Now it is being overbought and we are seeing all the shorts covering as they are running scared from the Fed. I still maintain.....we close the year at this level we are at right now. So be ready for another dip. And the higher this keeps going right now....the deeper the retracement will be. But what do I know. Just stay long folks. You won’t go wrong doing that.

Completely not price gouging. They are auctioning off early appointments. This is not a necessity at all. I'm totally cool with it. They've lost a ton of business, it's a very inexpensive service (that frankly can be done at home if necessary). If you don't want to pay for an early hair appointment, no one is putting a gun to your head - find another barber, wait, or do it yourself.

were you upset with his DPA for companies to make masks and ventilators? There are several key differences. The first, and most obvious difference, is that the food industry has not run out of meat. The second difference is that meat is not required to keep dying people alive. The third difference is that ventilator factories are more sanitary than meat processing facilities. The fourth difference is that Trump did not order ventilator manufacturers to stay open while flaunting local shelter-in-place ordinances. I could probably come up with a few more differences but I believe my point has been made.

Round 5 - Leaving - How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore, Prince My last B-side. My best B-side. By Far. Life was all mixtapes when 1999 came out and the minute i saw the "music just changed, boys & girls" purple flash of the 1999 vid, i HAD to have this on a tape to play in the car. But i'd heard some of Prince's rambling dirtyboy records and didnt especially feel like buying a double album of this stuff, so i just copped the 45 to tape myself. If 1999 changed the world, the B-side changed my life. It's still my favorite Prince song and, without understanding that this sad & brilliant boy at the piano is what's behind His Glistening Purple Majesty, you don't really know Prince.

Finally had something make me truly feel good during this crap fest. Work has been INSANELY busy. Tomorrow is my birthday. I told me wife I planned to try and log out on time tomorrow but just couldn't promise because we just had a new system go live and I am the lead (ok, only) software developer on the project. However, the IT portion went poorly, they had to cancel the live testing for a few days and my schedule parted like the Red Sea! Not only do I not have to worry about logging out on time, I was actually able to take the day off! Yea, I may go back to a hundred or more emails Thursday and next week be thinking "why didn't I use that time more wisely?" But damn, as someone who hasn't had a day off in forever, this feels good!

I finally got through to the unemployment office. Who ever told me that it is like Christmas was absolutely correct. I have been calling often every day and always got the message stating the cue was always full. Today I almost hung up automatically but I was shocked to hear someone would be with me. 1 1/2 hours later I got to talk to someone. He pulss me up and tells me its a good thing I called as my case was not assigned to anyone. It has to do with my pto I used. He looked at it and says there is no issue and it will be easy to do but it has to be done. He said he was sending an email that would get my case assigned to someone. I was told I probably wont see any money for another 2 weeks. I stayed calm through the whole thing and the guy was very appreciative of that. He said they just were not prepared for anything like this. Now I mark the calendar and hope I see some money in two weeks. It is what it is

If there's anything, I'd hope empathy gets more attention in all this. I see a fair bit of "Oh they'll be just fiiiiiiine" from my white collar privileged friends. Where their biggest worry is how they get the zoom background to look great as they keep making their full salary while coping with the "struggles" of work from home life. "It's SOOOO Boring". Spare me. Lots of regular folks, especially service industry people, are having a super tough time with this.

I voted "Totally Not Cool," but I feel I should clarify - I do not think legally anyone should have any issue with it. It's their right to do it...but me, as a customer, I wouldn't ever set foot in there again. I'm somewhat principled as a customer - I'll pay more to a place I appreciate and to good people rather than pay less to someone who I think is schiesty. To me, this is schiesty. I also think it's going to have a horrible impact on your business. Through all of this, I've cut my son's hair 3x, and my wife has cut mine twice - all with perfectly acceptable outcomes. I'm going to have a hard time justifying going back to the place that charged me $42 to cut my hair and my son's. I'll probably go for me, but I'll continue to cut his. That's lost business - and places will lose even more if they jack prices up. Unlike short-term price gouging, lost demand is gone forever.

So I am on the treadmill tonight. Thunderstorms here in the KC area. So I decide to zone out and do a low HR run. Goal is under 140. I’m cruising along at 140 or so and I start thinking about this thread and @gruecd today when he posted that song as a means of motivation. Heart rate jumps to 144. What the ####. That ####### grue throwing that #### in there, and now my slow workout is all jacked up. I start thinking about @tri-man 47 rubbing @SFBayDucks feet, and my heart rate goes back to normal. After a couple of miles, I start thinking about grue again, this time in the context of trying to run this 10k coming up. Heart rate spikes immediately to 146. ####. That ####### cheesehead is screwing with my workout somehow. Doesn’t he know I am trying to make my body more efficient so when the 10K comes I can knock it out of the park? WTF. I start thinking about @gianmarco passed out on the grass at the relay, and my heart rate settles back down again. One mile to go, and I start thinking about the Packers draft. I can just see grue steaming with every pick, as I laugh my ### off at home. Dang heart rate spikes AGAIN to 147. Jesus Mary Joseph of running - help a brother out here. I’m trying to run slow for crissakes. So I think about @Brony drinking beers during the relay after he already la-di-da’d through some fast runs of his own while he watched us guys (namely me) run slow as hell. Heart rate settles back down. So to sum it up, grue is evil.

Brother and I had a rough childhood. He’s a successful lawyer, very smart, but we’ve never been close and have been estranged. Not even sure what happened. I used to be friends with his wife, even dated her best friend on and off for years. Then my brother had a nervous breakdown and things got strained and weird. He has 4 great kids, ages 15-23. My kids, 9 and 4, have had no relationship. Last week I texted a picture of my attempt to make a casserole my mom often made growing up. Text conversation led to realization that our kids all play Fortnite. Since that night, three of his kids and my 9 year old play Squads together for hours with voice chat and FaceTime and are dominate. Win about 1/3 25 team tournaments and have totally bonded. Pretty damn cool!

I think that was the top-end of the model where no mitigation took place. We have been on lock down for nearly 6 weeks now - with another few weeks to go. I would say that is a lot of mitigation that altered those top-end numbers quite a bit. Thankfully, we'll never know how close the models would have been. But, it is willful ignorance to ignore the impact of mitigation. It essentially amounts to an argument: "See, mitigation worked, therefore we should not have mitigated!"

  37. 6 points CDC: 80,000 people died of flu last winter in U.S., highest death toll in 40 years. NEW YORK — An estimated 80,000 Americans died of flu and its complications last winter — the disease’s highest death toll in at least four decades. The director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Dr. Robert Redfield, revealed the total in an interview Tuesday night with The Associated Press. Stealthy, you're citing an outdated article which contained a PRELIMINARY estimate. It says so right in the article -- did you read it? The CDC has since revised the number to 61,000, a number which will be eclipsed by the coronavirus within a few hours. And we'll eclipse your inflated 80K number sometime next month. More people will die from COVID in 6 weeks than will have died during the entire 2017-2018 flu season. BTW, your current tone is a far cry from your tone of 3 weeks ago, when you expressed outrage over the lack of investigation into Barack Obama during the H1N1 outbreak of 2009.......when the death toll was................12,000.

The best reason I can think of is to get people back to work. 26 million people unemployed? That’s absurd when a handful of hotspots account for 80% of the fatalities, and 80% of the fatalities are among aged 60+ with underlying comorbidities. Fewer than 1900 fatalities in CA, a state with 40 million people? I’ve been a strong proponent of social distancing, flattening the curve, keeping healthcare systems from being overwhelmed. 26 million on unemployment? Why are people in ND, SD, MT filing for unemployment? That’s why people want to end the harsh lockdowns from what I can see. And frankly, I don’t blame them one bit. Mosh pits? No. Go back to work? Yes.

Obviously with the Stone prosecution everything involved in this pretty much wrapped up. There is also Assange, maybe, and the Flynn (egads, yawn) sentencing. Sullivan should have sent Flynn to the clink on the spot in December 2018 when he had the chance. What a complete unmitigated cluster Barr has made it since then, not unlike what he tried to do with Stone. The routine appears to be that Powell files made up bs with wholly fabricated claims and rather than fight them the DOJ just responds with briefs, Sullivan sets hearings, denies the motions, and this process is cycled and recycled. I guess the plan is to run out the clock until after the election and Trump will pardon everybody. Nothing from the Mueller investigation files has been released. Nothing has been deredacted. Nothing from the grand jury either. None of these efforts have failed, they are still in litigation, almost entirely on appeal, even when there have been wins for the public and transparency. So having said that, there is some new detail about Stone and Stone & Assange that has emerged. In particular the Stone warrants have been released and that shows a good amount. Apparently one thing the FBI did was they researched who was googling Guccifer 2.0 and DC Leaks before anyone knew about it. - One Roger Stone turned up in these IP searches.

As a teenager much of the staff of the local grocery store I worked at was made up of youngsters like myself. Working the opening shift (6 am) a few of us often used to go over to the in-store bakery to flirt with the girls and bum a donut. One time my buddy Tim and I went over and the girls were not there, and the old surly bakers were bent over the counter tops working as we went into the back. Tim spied a large canister of glaze, gave me a "Watch THIS" look, and dipped his bare finger into the glaze. He slurped the glaze off his finger, I was snorting and the bakers heard us and turned around and cussed us out of there. Tim had a horrified look on his face. As we left the bakery I asked him what was wrong. "That wasn't glaze. That was Crisco."
