  1. I haven't had a chance to post my review yet, but here it is: I wanted to try as many items as possible so I got the 3 meat (ribs, brisket, pork), 2 sides (cole slaw, jambalaya) plate. Also got a blonde ale from the bar which went perfectly. Ribs, brisket and cole slaw were 5 stars. Pork and jambalaya were only 4 stars, but both probably suffered from the fact that I was pretty full by the time I got to them. I also tried 3 sauces--KC, North Carolina and South Carolina. My favorite was a mixture of North Carolina & South Carolina. (Is that just "Carolina" sauce?) Anyhow, my intention was to eat only about half of the plate, but I somehow managed to eat everything. After reading this thread for 8 years, it was really a treat! Additional comment: I actually walked to McClure's from my hotel near the Superdome, about 3 miles. It was fun/interesting to see the neighborhoods in the city but (1) I've never seen so many missing or confusing walk/don't walk signs at intersections and (2) the streets and sidewalks are in terrible condition--even worse than Los Angeles, which I didn't think was possible.
  2. I'll be in town this week for the ABA Tax Section meeting. Planning to make at least one trip to McClure's. Probably Thursday dinner, maybe Saturday lunch. Maybe I'll bring a tax lawyer or two with me.
  3. I agree with Shader. It wasn't until I went home and read a review that I understood the significance of the one day, one hour bit.
  4. Saw it last night. Thought it was good but it didn't live up to the hype. Battle scenes were very intense and well executed, but there was zero character development, the timeline/storyline was quite confusing and the (limited) dialogue was difficult to understand, mostly because it was overwhelmed by the (fantastic) musical score.. I'd like to see it again with closed captioning.
  5. Timely thread. My wife and I are looking at a trip to Ontario and Quebec, probably next September. I was thinking of including Ottawa on the itinerary (for 2-3 days out of a two week trip), but it doesn't seem to be getting any love in this thread. Should we skip it?
  6. Does the American Barbecue Association have a concussion protocol?
  7. I'm enjoying the show, but finding it really hard to keep up with all of the wrinkles in the story. NBC needs to have a "post-game" show where a group of panelists dissect that night's episode. It would actually be a lot more interesting than any of the NFL post-game shows.
  8. sold a bunch so far. I'm nearly pit capacity. I'm really dropping the ball this year by not offering sides too...I might come up with some last minute since ill be cooking for the family as well but right now I am preoccupied.... .I am preparing for the Po Boy festival this weekend think 50k people on one 1/2 mile street....serving my smoked brisket cheese steak with provolone sauce and smoked onions & peppers. I have about 500 pounds of brisket to cook & slice and about 60 gallons of Jambalaya or more.... Sounds great. Wish I could go, but I'm also wondering if you have a cardiologist on staff?
  9. Secretary in my office a few months ago: She: What a shame about Junior Seau. He was such a good football player, and also a great bowler. Me: Bowler? She (pointing to online article): Says right here, he was a Pro Bowler. Me (and the rest of the office):
  10. Been reading E.L. Doctorow's The March I'm about 2/3 of the way through and I can't decide if I like it or not. Right now it's just a bunch of scattered characters that occasionally have something to do with each other. Waiting for something big to happen. He certainly has a unique writing style, not using quotation marks at all.
