  1. My weather gear is typically really dependent on my workout. Hard workouts obviously require less clothes. Short story, last winter it was 5 a.m. and about 18 degrees at my house. I wore tights and long sleeve tech shirt as I would be doing an interval workout (I think mile repeats). I get halfway through the workout (including warmup, recoveries) and I was 5 miles from my house but I feel the chafing of the nipple. I try to run the next interval while "holding" the shirt away from the nipple but it really messed with my form and my pace. So I decide to strip off the shirt. So I'm doing my run topless in the dark in the dead of winter. Interestingly enough, I didn't get cold. My body was generating so much heat from the run, I barely noticed the cold against my skin. In many ways, it was refreshing. I finished the last 5 miles with no shirt on in 18 degrees. I live in a small town and I'm sure those who drove by me thought I had lost my mind.
  2. I'm going to be careful on this. Thankfully, I have zero time goals. I told her I would run with her until I couldn't. If I run it in 5:30 or 6 or 6:30, I'm cool either way. I'll just be out there running with people.
  3. Welp. Signed up for a trail ultra marathon on Sunday. If I'm not gonna do long runs while training, I might as well just sign up for races which will force me to run. Smaller race with nearly 5,000 feet of elevation. Its a 5 loop race....each loop is a 10K. I haven't been running much and I've been babying my glute. Only 84 entrants, of course 23 of which are in the 40-49 age group. In 4 months, I'll be in the 50-59 age group which would guarantee me a top 3 placement as there are only 2 entrants for 50-59 AG. I'm going to try to run with a woman who wants to try to break the women's record in the event of 5:34. She said her goal is to run a 1:05 for each of the 10K. Not sure if I can stay with her as she runs a lot of trails and lots of elevation. Her first road marathon was last year and she ran a 3:40. I may fade badly at the end. We will see.
  4. Great job @gruecd. Its amazing how small tweaks in pacing can derail you in a long run. Knowing your history and OCD nature about running, it definitely shows what a mind f**k it is to slow yourself down in the early parts of a marathon/ultramarathon race (or in this case - FKT.)
  5. Only thing I would add on the PF is to not walk around your house barefoot. In our house, we never wear shoes ever. When I had PF, I started wearing sneakers around the house. The extra support helps to alleviate the pain and enhances healing.
  6. Tracking? If not, then how about a periodic post or text to keep us updated?
  7. Just get to mile 46....its all down hill from there!
  8. Back when @Hang 10 was running all the time (and quite fast I might add), he ran a race and he ended up wearing a bow tie, with shorts and singlet. I don't recall why but it was in his Strava feed or his profile pic for a while. Always made me laugh.
  9. Will you ride in a bike race wearing a bow tie?
