  1. So, are you upset if the spent the night at US Bank at the draft party, drinking $10 Miller Lites, and they trade down? I agree, feels like a position of leverage. If someone slides perfect, else great spot to get more picks.
  2. Our clinic locally just does IUI's, they don't do IVF. This was one of the reason's for trying an IUI at the clinic in MPLS so we got a feel for the place, doctor, and quite frankly, a second opinion on our tests and everything else. This clinic has the best results of any in Minnesota so we think we picked the right one. They do offer us the option of doing some of the ultrasounds locally but at this point if we are going to invest the money into the process, why not do it the right way? I might have to suggest the acupuncture. FWIW, we live in New Orleans and did the actual IVF in Houston (4 hours away). Went to Houston for initial visit/consultation and talk through the process.Literally did all of the drugs, ultrasounds, etc in New Orleans until the Drs. in Houston said it was time to come thereSpent 10 or so days in Houston doing the retreival, implant, recoveryObviously, you need to make sure that your local doctor is aligned with the plan...but it can work. The appointment went well and we are moving forward with things. We will be going through the first round of tests in the next couple weeks just to make sure things haven't changed since our last IUI at this clinic was over a year ago. We will be able to do most of the ultrasounds here locally, except for the retrevial, implant, etc in Minneapolis. We feel very comfortable withour doctor after sitting down with her again. She also found us some "samples" of the drugs we will need to the tune of around $2,000 worth of medicine so that will help a ton with the costs!
  3. I posted this when Fred was going through it but we had 6 failed IUIs before going to IVF. We were 2 for 2 on IVFs and have two wonderful sons as a result. Total bill was around $50K but it was all worth it. The good thing about IVF is that male/female/unexplained issues really don't matter all that much. The process gets around most of that. The major real issue remaining is if the wife has trouble staying pregnant for some reason. Hearing stories like this certainly make us think more positive. It gets frustrating over each month which has turned into years. Hopefully this is an answer for us.

  5. I think some of the fear is that this IVF will be our last gasp at this. We always knew we could afford another IUI round but at the cost of and IVF, this might be it as far as what can be done and that is an intimidating thought. We will certainly be asking a lot of questions and it is great reading about all the success stories like Fred.
  6. Yeah, cruel irony. When they told my wife that a few months ago I can't believe the clinic didn't lie and just make up something else. I think we've reached the point of no more IUI's after 4 tries, albeit only one at this clinic. We've spent enough money on that avenue. Not sure about new tests, we'll find out on Wednesday but they ran a bunch when we saw them for the IUI.
  7. Steed, We did the initial IUI's here locally but weren't happy with the way we were treated and headed up to a place in Minneapolis. We then did one IUI there but have taken a break for about a year, just trying to separate ourselves from the stress, drugs, etc. We've been saving the money for IVF. We like the Doc at this place much better but ironically had to wait 3 months for this appointment as she was out on maternity leave.
  8. Looks like I've got a lot of reading to do on this forum. We've been trying for 5 years now and have had 4 failed IUI's. We went to an IVF informational meeting a few months ago and have our first official doctor appointment on Wednesday. We've gone through all the different exams and the good news is nothing is wrong with my wife and I. The bad news is that they can't identify why we can't get pregnant. Any helpful tips would be much appreciated. I'll be reading this forum topic for a long time tomorrow.
  9. New Dish customer but I can't get my local channels in HD. I thought I asked everything but obviously not. Any thoughts on how to get this or get around this?
  10. I booked the same 'free Cirque tickets deal' for May. $700 at Mandalay Bay. Which show did you get into? We were told 'O' wasn't avaialble, so we booked 'Love'. We called and got tickets in like row DD in the balcony, and the two other couples we are going with called later that day and got tickets in the 4th row. I called back and they said the tickets weren't exchangable, and that their must have been multiple cancellations for those seats to open up. Oh well, I guess they're still free.Wife got tickets to Love and it was pretty dang good. I enjoy music and the Beetles is obviously about as good as it gets. The Cirque stuff is crazy like usual but fun. We both enjoyed it. Tickets were near the top but there really isn't a bad seat.
  11. Leaving next Sunday for my first ever trip there. Wife booked us Sunday-Wednesday (Thursday morning red-eye) with flight, hotel at TI and 2 free cirque du soleil tickets for $650. I'm pumped and this thread will be read in its entirety soon.
  12. So everything as easy as you hoped?Yes, everything worked very easy with the one hiccup being the firmware upgrade to the DVD drive that I should have done right away anyway. Mad props to Zasada for the help on this. I saved mad cash and have a very nice PC.
  13. Ok. So the above mentioned computer is up and running and everything seems good. I've started to load software and such and have a few questions. What's the best way to transfer stuff? I'll mainly be moving some files, music, etc...Nothing too large. What is a decent keyboard/mouse to get? Do people recommend wireless or just stick with the basic wired stuff. Also, I need to get a good inexpensive speaker system and headset. TIA
  14. I got all my stuff as well. Here it is. Stuff should arrive today. I want to make sure I got all the right parts and pieces in case I need to make changes. The goal was to get a good gaming rig (affordable) and keep it under $1,000 so I'm well on my way. Zasada or MC or anyone else, thoughts? Recommendations for a good 22" monitor and/or thoughts on this?
