  1. Copied this over from Otis' other thread. Writing this more for my benefit than anything else but hopefully if someone else starts going through the program they will find it useful. Starting Weight(1/1/12): 243.7 Current Weight: Height: 6'6" % Lost: Lbs Lost: Goal: 215 First day fit-test results: Switchkicks - 80 Power Jacks - 55 Left Knee things - 82 Jump Squats - 30 Around the World - 7 Suicides - 13 Jumping Jack Pushups - 16 Obliques - 45 Probably could have pushed myself more, but didn't want to absolutely crush myself on the first day. Had a hard time getting to sleep last night, was feeling pretty sore - mostly in my groin area. Woke up feeling okay, a lot of general body soreness. Not so terrible I couldn't get to today's workout though which was the Plyometric Cardio Circuit. It is crazy how fast you start sweating just doing the warmup and stretches. I am very inflexible so some of the stretches are actually quite difficult for me (also likely due to poor leg strength). Took a lot of breaks, my shoulders aren't as strong as I would like as the pushup and planking sequences were tough for me. Ate a banana and had some chocolate milk to try and stave off some soreness for tomorrows workout.
  2. Word from the wife is the first 50 pages are really meh, then it picks up and doesn't let you go. Definitely have to labor through the beginning.
  3. Looking at picking up some Chukkas soon. With the MN winter arriving, would these be a good bet? Anyone have any experience with Clarks holding up through the winter? Would probably be my everyday shoe/boot.
  4. I loved the ending. The more I think about it, the more I like it as well.
  5. Whew. Finally made it through the Dark Tower series. Really enjoyed it. Seems there is some backlash online about the ending but I can't really think of any other way he could have ended it. All in all it probably took me about 6 months to get through the series. Each time I would start one, however, I couldn't seem to put it down and I would plow through it in 3-4 days.
  6. These a good deal?
  7. Just finished all 3 of the Stieg Larson Millennium Trilogy, highly recommended. Also read Water for Elephants, pretty good as well.
  8. Blocked at my office. Cut/paste please?I spent a lot of time the other day giving Apple a lot of flak for becoming the “ESPN of tech companies.” The following (alleged) story doesn’t change my mind, but it is a reminder that Apple’s still got some pretty good swag rolling when it comes to customer service.Apparently, Apple’s got a CLOSE eye on any and all returns of iPad 2′s, as they want to make sure there’s no fatal flaw hanging out there that could ruin the experience for any consumers this soon after the release of their newest product. And, according to Mac Rumors, they’re watching so closely that they even noticed when a man returned his iPad 2 with a note on it that said, “Wife said no.” This is, according to MR, per an “individual close to Apple.” This individual (or source or whatever you want to call him/her), says that the story, when it was noticed by customer service, was “escalated as something funny.” As the story rose up the company ranks via the old-fashioned form of forwarding email, “two [vice presidents] got wind of it.” They then made the executive decision to send the gentleman who returned his iPad a new iPad 2 with a note on it that read, “Apple says yes.” Sure, that doesn’t mean that Apple’s so hands-on with its customers that every single consumer of an iPad 2 is going to be satisfied, and it certainly doesn’t mean that the world is going to receive free iPads. But it is a pretty freaking hysterical customer service story, and provided it’s true, it means there’s some random dude out there who had a perfectly crappy day turned around thanks to some Apple execs.
  9. what kinda work? office? sales? exec? Office - Accounting internship, will most likely be working for this company when I graduate as well. Are you typically able to buy other clothes (jeans etc) off the rack in traditional stores or do you have to go to Big n Tall? Can get shirts off the rack but have a more difficult time with pants - have found the 'big n tall' skews more toward big - so I usually just end up ordering jeans online with an added inch or two of length. I think with this budget, you might get a t-shirt and pair of sunglasses. At 6'6" buying clothes will be difficult (I am 6'5"). Are you skinny or what? Not 'skinny' per se but not fat. Weighing right around 225 right now. If I got rid of the Ireland beer belly my ideal weight is around 215.
  10. I am looking some recommendations for business clothing. I am basically starting from scratch and trying to create a reasonable work wardrobe that will be able to last. Dress is mostly business causal with a decent amount of business professional. Budget: $1000-$1200 What I have: Decent pair of shoes – nothing special. Perhaps an upgrade would be an order if I have the funds. Nice pair of suit pants – the jacket is falling apart (you get what you pay for it appears) What I need: Dress shirts: How many? Plain vs. Patterned? Brooks Brothers, Charles Tyrwhitt (4 for 100 right now)? I love the idea of non-iron. Suit: Perhaps something like this – I think I can get away with one for awhile: Amazon – I saw this mentioned on here earlier. Would have to get it tailored, but looks like a good deal. Pants: How many? Clueless here – any good recommendations? All I know is khaki is no good. Ties: How many? Have a couple, but nothing special – what should I be looking for? I am taller (6’6”) so it would be nice to get some longer ones, don’t know if they even sell them. What am I missing? Any help would be appreciated. Figure I might as well start off with some decent stuff that won’t be destroyed immediately and will last me awhile. TIA
  11. Seems like a lot of books for one semester. Are you sure you will be reading these or just working with excerpts that touch a common theme? You are correct - it is a year long course. And according to the website not all books will be read completely, instead 'most will be touched on in some way'. I am leaning toward doing it as I figure the books are considered classics for a reason.
  12. How many of you have read a lot of the 'classics'? I have an opportunity to take a Great Books class next year - here is the book list. Thoughts?
  13. I also just finished Lonesome Dove, a fantastic novel. ETA: Any suggestion on whether to continue and read Streets of Loredo and then the two prequels or vice versa?
  14. Just finished Too Big To Fail by Andrew Ross Sorkin, a really good depiction of the recent financial collapse.
  15. Any of the watches on Gilt right now a good deal? For the corporate FBG's - do you wear a watch every day?
  16. I am going to be headed to Ireland for spring semester. Need a little :style: advice for a coat - I am 6'6" 225 so fit can sometimes be an issue. Any suggestions?
  17. Has anyone used NFLJerseySupply lately? If not, have any other websites taken their place? I placed an order with them this past summer and everything went well but after the recent issues I question if they are still shipping jerseys or just scamming at this point...
  18. I've been following this thread for awhile and have a question about a rig that just popped up on my local Craigslist. I'm nowhere near an expert on this stuff so I am not sure if what I am seeing is a good deal or if I'd be better off finding something pre-built online or building one myself. The specs of the computer are as follows: Case GIGABYTE 3D Aurora 570 GZ-FA1CA-ASB Black 1.0 mm Aluminum body ATX Full Tower Power Supply CORSAIR CMPSU-620HX ATX12V v2.2 and EPS12V 2.91 620W CPU Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz LGA 775 (FSB 1066) Motherboard EVGA 122-CK-NF68-A1 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI ATX Memory Patriot eXtreme Performance 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit GPU EVGA 320-P2-N815-AR GeForce 8800GTS 320MB 320-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP (576MHz Core clock) Primary Hard Drive Western Digital Raptor WD1500ADFD 150GB 10,000 RPM Serial ATA150 Secondary Hard Drive SAMSUNG SpinPoint T Series HD501LJ 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Optical Drive SAMSUNG 18X DVD±R DVD Burner With 12X DVD-RAM Write, LightScribe Technology Black SATA Model SH-S183L - OEM Here is the link to the ad - Is that a good deal?
  19. Has anyone had an issues using Paypal? I recently attempted to pay for my order and got the following response: "This recipient is currently unable to receive money." Has this happened to anyone? Do I just have o wait it out?
