  1. Roughly every four years

  2. I'm here way too frequently.

  3. He is not great on the run, and most of the time does not run. That said he did lead the league in passer rating and bested Manning in yards, tds, and ratings. He was under some severe pressure Sat Night, alot of those throw aways were broken screens though. Throwing cross body on the run agains the Colts secondary is not a recipe to win the game. Most pocket type Qbs are not great on the run.
  4. I know it's a bit of a longshot, but if Rivers plays (with a torn acl) and the Chargers win, can this thread be locked forever?
  5. He was 18th in QB rating this regular season, at 82.4, just behind Derek Anderson at 82.5. Last season, he was 8th, at 92.0. He definitely regressed statistically this season, as discussed throughout the thread. But if one is going to use QB rating, he has already shown he can be very good for an entire season. I believe last season was a better representation of his ability than this season, and I think he'll be better next year.He will improve from this year's experience, and will have another offseason to work with the coaching staff and should be more comfortable in Norv's variation of the offense next year. And, as MT pointed out, hopefully he will have better health this offseason to enable him to better work on some of his fundamentals and thus improve his footwork. Over the last 8 games (all wins) his QB rating I believe is over 95. In the playoffs even higher. His first month was dreadful and really brought down his ranking. It is a long season, much better to be peaking now and playing crappy in Sept then vice versa.I agree he is peaking at the right time. However, check these regular season splits for this year:Games 1-8: 82.9 Games 9-16: 82.0 This looks consistent, but this doesn't: September: 76.0 October: 130.1 November: 68.8 December: 85.8 He was either really good or really not this year. He had 7 regular season games with a QB rating of 101.7 or better, but the other 9 were all 74.2 or worse. Like I said, I think he'll get better going forward. The 8 games I was refering to were the last 8 games, this includes the 2 playoff games.

  7. Rivers has the highest career QB rating in Chargers history -- higher than Fouts, higher than Brees, higher than Humphries, higher than Hadl . . .Sush, facts are not welcome when speaking of Rivers, just opinions and hate please.when stats start saying things like 'Rivers is a better QB than Fouts' it's time to stop reading them and simply watch the action on the field with ones own eyes.By all means, keep the opinions rolling. What did your eyes tell you yesterday? If you had never seen a football game in your life and watched the "Terrible" Rivers, what would you think? How about the weekend before when he threw for 300 yards against a good Titans D? Would Terrible be the word for his play? That is afterall what this thread is about...

  9. Volek threw a 2 yrd pass to Nanee that went for 40 yards. He didn't pass the ball down field and only had 4 throws total. Please dont compare the two. Rivers is damn good, someday he will start to get the credit, 27-8 now.
  10. And SD really can't afford to keep Turner around one more year for $5mil??? I don't get why so many people say you can't franchise that guy.Its closer to 10 Million. And if they want to extend Merriman, Rivers, Igor, Castillo, etc, they aren't going to spend 1/3 of their cap space on a backup RB. No chance. M Turner is gone come March.
  11. Ton of heart by Rivers, playing hurt and leading that comeback on the road against a rough team fighting for their playoff lives. Awesome really...
  12. Whoever threw less interceptions in the most recent week's games. So this week its Rivers. The actual correct answer is Roethlisberger. But last year (Bens second as starter) people were hating him, calling him Big Bust and what not. Sometimes people are quick to write off young QBs, as I believe is the case here with Rivers.Roethlisberger had a few things wrong with him physically last year. Rivers has no such excuse, and Eli much less so than Roethlisberger last year. Also, I can't recall any QB worth their salt yelling at a crowd to shut up when they were booing him. This latest example of Rivers's lack of composure is just another such in a long string of them that makes me think he doesn't have what it takes upstairs to lead a team, and to me that is possibly the most alarming short coming of his. He suffers many of the same flaws as Brees, but Brees never pulled that kind of stuff.Accept for like a new coaching staff, to say that there is no excuse is wrong. Its his second year starting, he is due to have ups and downs, cmon Groovus no need to throw in the towel on our 20-7 QB quite yet.

  14. He was more accurate yesterday which is imperative. However his throws are still pretty ugly, I don't think he threw a tight spiral at any point yesterday, and on the first Gates TD he didn't get it out there far enough - Gates had to actually wait for the ball. If coverage is average to good yesterday I think we're having a continuation of the Rivers sucks conversation. I was greatly amused (for those who listened to the audio) at Randy Cross's constant comments about Rivers's strong arm and laser beam throws - does this guy actually watch the games/players?Worst of all was when Rivers turned around to yell at the crowd to shut up as they were booing him off the field following another 3 and out. The guy's head just isn't right to be a top QB, sorry but that's just how it is. If he can't learn to keep his head he's not going to have what it takes to lead his team when it counts.Rivers was booed on the first drive, where he was 1-1 for 8 yards. He continued his good play the rest of the game, boo more. Coverage complaints? When teams don't even cover Wes Welker I don't see comments about how Brady would be average if only teams would do a better job covering his WRs, its a pretty mehh comment if you ask me. Rivers got the ball to the open man, did you see the second Gates TD, the one where the Raven defender was about to blast him, and he stood in the pocket and fired it to Gates? Hard crowd to please here.
  15. He played very well yesterday, it was really nice to see. The Oline gave him a pocket to pass in which helped quite a bit. He also did a nice job hitting the open guys, not out thinking things. Also helps when guys like VJax hang on to the ball and keep drives going. All and all a nice game to build on, now we shall see if he can do again this weekend in a hostile road environment like KC.
