  1. My dad used to say that. Starting in college I opted for "drive fast, take chances."My dad and I say "take care" instead of goodbye because we can't say "I love you".That's weird that you can type it though. Perhaps you can just type it in the air to each other before leaving.
  2. You're kidding yourself.Another jealous Pats hater? Yes it sucks..but Hernandez can be just as effective. Instead of having Gronk & Hernandez, the Pats will have to play Hernandez & Crumpler/whoever. It's a huge blow to the team. You just lost all credibility by saying Crumpler. A huge blow to a 7-3 team that's basically won the division already? If he was out for the playoffs, yes HUGE blow. Looking on the bright side for Pat's homers, Gronk hasn't been playing fully healthy this year. So this time off may be a blessing in disguise if he can come back healthy for the playoffs.
  3. Saw this last night. I highly recommend it.
  4. Those on the east coast. Got your batteries all charged up for the storm?
  5. Well, I for one, am glad we just upgraded my older Mac Pro tower with a new iMac a couple of months ago and missed out on this new one. If we had waited it would have changed everything because part of my job is authoring DVDs. I'm guessing there will be external burners? If not I'm stuck with my 2009 iMac at home until DVDs finally die. I feel sorry for dvd authors because it seems like the writing is on the wall for them. I'm mainly a video editor so it doesn't affect me that much but I do know people who are just DVD authors. Better find some other occupation soon. Apple is alienating it's hardcore supporters, the professionals, big time. Yes, they are ahead of the game but people are earning a living on TODAY'S technology right now. How would you like to have been a college student learning how to edit on Final Cut Pro 7 for the last couple of years just to have Apple say "too bad! We totally changed it! All your familiarity with our editing software is no good anymore!" We just switched over to Avid because of it. I could go on and on but this is an iPad thread so I won't.
  6. Only if it is a stupid post. If it is indeed salient and satisfies the OPs main argument or disproves it, then it is still appropriate. This is also acceptable in seamstress forums.
  7. Made this last night. It was delicious:Slow cooker Punjabi eggplant with potatoesFrom the pantry, you'll need: onion, ginger, garlic, ground cumin, ground chile pepper, garam masala, turmeric, canola oil.Ingredients2 medium eggplants, stem end removed, cut into 1/2-inch dice (approx. 10-12 cups)1 large Idaho or Yukon Gold potato, peeled, cut into 1/2-inch dice1 medium yellow or red onion, peeled and chopped1 tsp ginger paste (or grated fresh ginger root)6 cloves garlic, peeled and coarsely chopped2 jalapeño chiles, seeded and minced1 Tbsp ground cumin1 Tbsp ground red chile pepper1 Tbsp garam masala1 tsp turmeric1/4 cup canola oil1 Tbsp kosher salt, or to taste1-2 Tbsp chopped fresh cilantro, to tasteDirectionsCombine eggplant, potato, onion, ginger, garlic, jalapeño peppers, cumin, ground chile pepper, garam masala, turmeric and oil in a 4- or 5-quart slow cooker. Stir as best you can to distribute the spices and oil. (The smaller cooker will be frighteningly full, but don't worry; the eggplant will cook down.) Cook on HIGH for 2 hours, stirring after 1 hour. After the first two hours of cooking, stir well. There should be a nice amount of moisture in the cooker, and the eggplant should have collapsed a bit. If there is plenty of liquid in the pot, continue cooking on LOW for 30 minutes, uncovered. If there's not much liquid, cook on LOW for 30 minutes with the cover on.Add the salt and cilantro, to taste. (Salt added during the cooking will draw more moisture out of the eggplant, so it's best added at the end.)Serve at room temperature, over rice or topped with raita, or make aheadSounds good!I forgot to mention that I added a big can of garbanzo beans for a little extra hardiness and protein. Highly recommend doing that!

  9. I just ordered new carts for my 3.5ml tank, I love the thing. Worth trying out. They work with any diamond series and titan battery, manuals of course work better. I'm not a fan of the new Titan battery design, I ordered one and sent it back, but I only tried the auto so the manuals may be better. The first tank carto I had lasted about 2 weeks before it started turning the juice dark. Up until that point it was flavor and TH galore. So now I just get replacement tank cartos at $2.85 each and get a couple weeks of use out of each one before I toss em.Looking at the pictures on v4l these seem exactly like the tube tank I got from volcano. Best vaping decision I've made yet. The kind of juice (pg/vg ratio) definitely make a big difference on the life of the cartos. I prefer pg juices in them.
  10. Has anyone said "short money" yet. As in "sos, I'ze was talkin' to a guy and he was willin' to sell me his atv for short money." What strikes me as funny about phrases and terms like these is that they all have to said for the first time by somebody. And they know it's their first time saying it. Wow, I just heard Brent say "short money" when talking about something. You know what? I like it! (days pass, finally the opportunity arises to use the phrase) So, I knew I'd have a tuff time comin' up with the money for the trip but the tickets were...(I'm gonna do it!) you see the tickets were...(it's almost like right before an orgasm!)...were sellin' for SHORT MONEY! I did it! I'm now one of the people who say SHORT MONEY!!!!!!!! Now tomorrow I'm going I'm going to introduce my friends to my new fashion statemen. I'm going to wear a winter hat even though the forecast calls for a 90 degree day. And then I'm gonna tell 'em, not that the hat was a good deal, or it was cheap! Oh, no. I'm a SHORT MONEY guy now.
  11. BTW, your probably at this point now but you don't have to peel off the skin. Cut the bastard in half, thrust the knife into the pit, so a quick twist, pop it out, cut the pulp in the shell a few times lengthwise and widthwise then eat right from the shell with a little olive oil, pepper and salt. Nature's bowl if you will. removing the pit
  12. :lmao:I for one would like my poops at least a tad bit detectable. nothing feels better than passing a good solid doomp. This usually happens to me on my way into work. But I don't think I appreciate it as much as I should because it was left there by a homeless.
  13. Walt just got lucky with the blinds. He had never even seen Hank's new office before that visit, so he didn't know it would have interior windows. If the blinds had been left open he would have had to be a little sneakier, but probably could have done it without raising suspicion.I think Walt's bugging of the phone and picture is going to bite him in the ### big time. If Hank finds these things (which I'm certain he will) how much would it take for him to put 2 and 2 together?
  14. "Grazing" in terms of someone giving advice about how you should heat 27 small meals throughout the day instead of 3.
  15. Maybe, but it seems like they did try to make a connection when they showed that fly walking on the table in last night's episode.I thought it was a cockroach last night.
  16. Excuse me but why do you guys eat 'more than any 2 people could possibly eat?' That is just effing disgusting. Why not eat just a reasonable amount?
  17. Community Supported Agriculture...code for a box of local produce you pay double to have brought to you directly because you are such a nature lover stuck in the big city. It's a way for yuppies to feel better about all the other crap they ingest. It's like those idiots that buy Vitamix machines and then just use them to make milkshakes once a week.Um, no. You pick up our CSA from at a local farm or at a farmer's market. So we are idiots because we buy a box of fresh produce and support local farming at the same time? I think we pay around $250 for the CSA. It runs for about 5 months. That equals about $13.00 a week. Can't believe I'm even defending this.
  18. I'll tell you what recently worked for us. We were in almost the same scenario as you. What all turned it around is we watched Forks Over Knives. After that movie (which chronicles people living a vegan lifestyle after being staunch meat-fast-food-overeaters and shows the horrific ways of meat production) we decided to take the challenge together. We both lost some pounds and she re-discovered yoga and I re-discovered the gym. She has stayed on the vegan diet. While I made it perfectly clear that after the challenge I was going back to eating meat, I now eat a lot more veggies and the meat I do eat is just a compliment to the meal and not the focal point. I'd say at least 75% of my diet is vegan simply because she is and that's fine with me. We have a CSA which means, during the spring, summer and fall, we have more veggies than any 2 people could possibly eat. This means we make huge portions of veggie dishes and we love them. You can eat as much as you want and be stuffed at the end. She has dropped a ton of weight and it has done wonders for her. She still isn't thin and probably never will be. She never was and that's ok. But she's now on a track that keeps her and us really happy. Just dieting (where it's a chore) or going to the gym to lose weight fast is no way to go. She has to enjoy what she's doing. Plus her going to yoga and me going to the gym gives us time for ourselves and makes us feel great when we're stuffing down all our fresh produce. So perhaps you could suggest her try yoga? And perhaps take a challenge and have a vegan diet for a month? That may spring-start a healthier lifestyle. And when I say vegan I don't mean all that crap like fake hot-dogs and crap like that. That won't help although it's nice to have it once and a while and will keep you on track. So this is working for us right now. She goes to yoga almost every day and hates it when she can't go but it's not an obsession. I go to the gym a couple of times a week. We really enjoy cooking our meals and eating together. Ultimately she has to make a lifestyle change. Doing the vegan challenge made it a lot easier for us. I recommend you watch Forks Over Knives then just do it.
  19. Don't remember seeing this posted here. Pretty interesting chart (PDF) listing different categories of injury with all breeds of dogs from 1982-2011 (US and Cananda). Chart Check down at the bottom where they list the percentages of these categories for the most dangerous breeds of dogs combined.
  20. But can any dog kill from their bite? No. But the Pit apologists won't respond to reason.given the right circumstances, I'd say yes, any dog can kill from their bite. but the Pit haters won't respond to reason.:lmao:Neck already opened up 2/3, clinging to life, Chihuahua gets access to an artery?as I said, the pit haters won't respond to reason.how about the link recently posted with a 3-day old baby? you don't think a chihuahua could kill a 3 day old baby?No response to this one? I'll take that as an admission that you will admit that yes, any dog can kill with their bite. Was that so hard? You can't be this dumb. No, wait, it's the internet, you can.You don't think a small dog could kill a baby and I'm the dumb one Good fishingI don't believe he was saying that a small dog couldn't kill a baby. I think what he was saying, and I may be wrong on this, that a small dog doesn't have nearly the killing capacity of a pitt bull. Now mind you, I haven't done all the research on this so take it for what it's worth.
  21. All of us in this thread were new at this vaping thing a year and a half ago so we all had to experiment. In the end we all would have saved money and hassle if we knew then what we know now. So I'll be happy to provide you with my opinion of what you should get after going through this myself.I've been vaping for about a year and a half now. I'm what you'd consider a light smoker (Camel Lights). I started off with the v4l starter kit and it was fine for a time. But I started getting sick of trying to extend the life of the cartomizers (the thing on top of the battery that holds the juice-looks like the filter of a cigarette) and having to charge those smaller cigarette sized batteries frequently. After more than a year of futzing around with this system I decided to finally upgrade so something I wouldn't have to babysit (for lack of a better word) so much. I figure if you're going to spend $75.00 on something you may as well spend a little more and get something more substantial that will last longer, give you less hassle and basically make it a more pleasurable experience. If you read through this thread you'd see that vaping has an extremely high success rate as far as people enjoying it and sticking with it, abandoning cigs altogether and not looking back. So the odds are pretty good you'll be the same. So this is what I have now and what I would recommend. Here is a pic of my setup pic You can get similar systems elsewhere but everything I'm listing here I got from Volcano. 2 Super Batteries-$19.99 each 2 Tube Tanks-$16.99 each (come with a cartomizer) 3 Bottles of different juices (15ml)-12.99 each (I get nicotine level 16) 6 Cartomizer refills for the tube tanks-2.99 each (I have found that one cartomizer will work really well for about 1 bottle of juice). 1 Battery charger bundle-$13.99 3 Needle tip bottle caps-$1.99 each The super batteries sit nicely in the hand (whole setup is about 5 inches long). On the top screws in the tank with the cartomizer inside. The cartomizer has a tiny hole in the bottom to wick up the juice. You refill by popping off the top cap, lifting the tank a little and squeezing juice into the tank. This is made much easier with the needle tip bottle cap. Fully charged the batteries can last me for days (again, light vaping). A big thing for me was having something last through 18 holes of golf when I vape heavily. These do the trick and last well into the evening. Of course, with the tube tank you don't have to refill nearly as much as with just a plain cartomizer. It doesn't leak. Now to juice. A lot of people love VG juice. I prefer PG juice. VG juice is much thicker than PG juice thus, it will clog up a system like mine much quicker and the wicking action isn't as good. Don't even bother trying to emulate the taste of a real cigarette. All here would be in agreement that trying different flavors is the way to go. This system would have saved me tons of $$$ and hassle if I had done it from the get-go. Of course, this is just my opinion from my personal experience. People have more complex systems and some even still are fine with the v4l type system. But it seems most upgrade at sometime.
  22. This was actually my point to something 3Cs posted as well. We really don't know the whole story in many of these cases if any. That's why this whole thing seems bizarre. All we know is people are getting attacked by dogs. We don't really know how well/poorly the dog's actually been treated.Yes, but quite a few of the articles have stated how the owner was at least somewhat responsible or could have prevented the attack from happening. We were focused on the actions of the dog in your comments. You only mentioned the "dog's background". Someone posted a good point a while back about knowing the dog's history, how to handle them, knowing they are dangerous etc and I think that's a great point. How many other species of dog do we have to know that much about and how to handle/address so we have a level of comfort in our homes that we are safe? I've personally never had those thoughts about ANY dog I've ever owned.I think it's gotta be a case by case basis. Regarding the one story that beavers posted with the 10 year old boy, I did see in another article that the family got the dog from a shelter so who really knows what the dog went through. The article states that they adopted the dog as a puppy. And was always around kids. The father rolled the dice with his kid's safety. Selfish and irresponsible. But hey, the chances were very good nothing would happen right? Wonder if he was yelling "It was worth the risk! It was worth the risk!" as he held his bleeding son in his arms and into the hospital. Shame he didn't choose a dog that wouldn't inflict that much damage if it attacked. But he had to have a Pit. Why? Beats me as well. Some people need have to have a Pit.
  23. I'm pretty much hooked on the butterscotch right now. I made myself 100ml the other day.I got the vape mail today. A few 4oz bottles and some of the original apple you liked. I'll mix it up tomorrow and should have it out on Tuesday. False alarm. I saw a package and thought it was my vape mail. Turned out to be my wife's yarn of the month club. When I first read it I thought you wrote "yam of the month" club. I thought you were either his kidding or wtf?
  24. I ran into the guy who runs a small shop here in Quincy MA. He only sells starter type ecigs and kits. I showed him my volcano batt with the tube tank and he asked me to come show it too him later so he could get a better look. He says he's never used it or seen it before. To me he's doing himself a disservice only limiting himself to the v4l type starter kit. He should have a "head shop" sort of store where vapers of all types could go and buy his stuff. I can't believe this guy is still in business. I can't believe that's all he knows is the starter type stuff.
