Bears | M. Brown to Play Strong Safety - from www.KFFL.comSun, 1 May 2005 09:19:05 -0700Brad Biggs, of the Chicago Sun-Times, reports Chicago Bears S Mike Brown will switch to the strong safety position this year as the club feels he skills are best suited for the position. "It's just based on how physical Mike Brown is," defensive coordinator Ron Rivera said. "We want to have him up in the box.'' S Mike Green will effectively switch places with Brown and become the team's free safety. ''Now, we've got a guy who is more stout down there," Rivera said of Brown. "That's all there was behind it.''

So, what's the effect on the two players in question?

Does Green become less valuable....yes, he get's fewer tackles and let's numerous interceptions slip through his hands?

Another bone, please.

yup, because of this switch...brown

green

...if it holds. earlier this offseason adam archuletta was going to also be moved from ss to fs, but in the end it didn't occur. a few bad days of practice from these two and it can reverse in a hurry

Interesting, because FBG's issued their rankings of DB's, and Green was quite high. Looks like they don't read this site. :)
