I think it's hitman's pick :X
  Yeah, when I signed up for the mock, I thought we'd be talking about a quick 4-5 hour deal. As we're on about 10 hours to make it through 3.5 of 16 rounds, I probably just screwed the pick order up. Argh. Oh well! If hitman wants to go Heap and/or Crumpler, I'll just go to the good 'ol tried and trusted "Plan B"....... I AM from Minnesota, you know, so I gotta try and have some draft-day shananigans! ;)

Hey, if someone gets a chance can we get an updated draft list? I would do it but I am bouncing back and forth to my desk here at work.

Guys, we're going to keep on with this draft in its present format, but I'm going to go on and start a 2nd Mock as well with some rule changes based on the suggestions you guys have made. Thanks so much so far for participating and helping tweak this. Colin

If you want to be in#2, check in on the thread in the Shark Pool and we'll make it happen. I have no problem keeping a fair number of the same people and having them carry over from one mock to another. That way, not only are we narrowing down the rules and tweaking things, we also get a chance for people to explore various points of strategy. Not patting myself on the back b/c someone else would have likely done the same thing, but I think that getting Manning and P'ing Culpepper (or vice-versa) is perhaps the most obvious way to maximize value. Even if you think that McNabb is in their teir, the gap is WIDE between Manning/Culpepper and the bulk of the QBs that will be starting for other teams.COlin

Also, just to put it out there...I'm hoping to have the leagues be money leagues to ensure participation. I need to look in to the legalities involved, but I'd like to have a fair number of leagues this fall (10 or so) with buy-ins from 20$ to 100$, depending on interest...although I suspect most people won't want to pay 100$ buy in for a new style they are unfamiliar with. The idea is that there would be 100% payouts (I'd take nothing) to encourage participation. People who volunteer to Commish leagues would be compensated in the form of not having to pay an entry fee.Year 1 would be to tweak things and get some interest. 2006 would be when I'd really amp things up.

5.04 - Colin - Kevan BarlowCurrent squad:QB - Peyton ManningRB1 - Chris BrownRB2 - JJ ArringtonFlex - Kevan BarlowWR1 - Tory HoltI'm relying on an injury-prone-but-very-good RB, a rookie RB, and an RB that SHOULD be betterthan last year. BUt I've got a top-tier QB and a top-4 WR, so that should help.COlin

By my count, 29 Pariah picks out of a possible 40 have been used. I can't for the life of me imagine what some people are waiting for....with each passing round the impact of a Pariah pick is diminished as the projected VBD of players selected so quickly falls in its own right.

I expect the quality of players selected to drop through the basement in the next 20 picks, making "evaluation of sleepers" a real art. COlin

Some owners are under the influence that saving the Pariah's when positions run out or thin will potentially hurt an unsuspecting owner. I have been against this theory all along as there are just too many positions/choices out there to be Pariahed out of a starting D or kicker. Now, if this were a 16 team league, Maybe it could work as positions can become think a lot quicker but in this Mock, I think it's a no brainer to use the Pariah's ASAP.

:goodposting: This has been my strategy from the start as well.

5.05 datonn selects RB Ronnie Brown, Dolphins and Pariahs TE Randy McMichael, Dolphins.
Ronnie Brown was pariahed by Blue Peep in at pick 4.01
Gol dangit! I hate these non-computerized drafts...... Exchange DeShaun Foster for Ronnie Brown, keeping McMichael as my Pariah.

So, in other words, Hitmen are still in need of a QB...

;)
Yeah, I know it's not good. But they are max protecting in HOU this year right.. :lmao: Actually, I like having the combination of David Carr to Andre Johnson this year. We know they really improved on Defense so they shouldn't have to throw too much right.. :loco:

Anyone want to trade? Since it is for fun I am game. Trades will be legit..

Jason,I'm not sure what VBD has to do with it, as using the Pariah on players early lowers the value of ALL players beneath them for ALL of us....meaning that by using the Pariahs early, we are lowering the value of the very players that we will be able to pick up ourselves in subsequent rounds. I agree that it is probably dumb to wait on using the Pariah into the deep middle/latter rounds. However, some people's use of the Pariah in rounds 1-2 is probably just a sign of things that I see in most FFL drafts/leagues I participate in...aka guys don't have a lot of patience and/or cannot see more than five feet in front of them from a long-term strategy standpoint. It's like those leagues where you have auction points for free agent/waiver bids, and 1/2 the league blows their entire wad in Weeks 1-2...then wonders why they are stuck in a bad spot as the playoffs approach. Anyway, I'm not sure who's saving their Pariahs at this point in the draft. All I was saying is that burning them in Rounds 1-2 doesn't always seem to make sense to me unless you are standing at the edge of a significant plateau in player value and the teams picking right behind you have substantial needs at those positions.....Overall, I'm happy with my team so far (Vick, Lewis, Foster, C. Johnson and Heap). I'm going to need good support behind Vick and Foster, but that's what the middle rounds are for. I've been happy to take three top TEs off the board of late though... ;)

Oh yeah, and a BIG  goes out to Colin for snaking Chris Brown AND Kevan Barlow one pick before me in rounds 3 and 5. Way to wreck my mock team there, Colin!
