If you do NOT invert your mouse, then you suXor.
Then WHY do all the games not enable that by default? I thought they used to but seems like I always have to go find and change this setting. Good to know that is the standard :D

Okay, another day, another problem. This time its the joystick. I haven't hooked it up before to BF2, and had it out the other day, and decided to. After all, it can only help right? Wrong. I setup the controls to be logical. Push stick forward, aircraft heads down. The problem is that when I turn left, the aircraft turns right. In a helo, when I spin left, the bird turn to the right. UGh. I tried playing like this and it is not working at all. Anyone else have this issue? Its a logitech stick, so its not a POS special. TIA!!
Can't really help with the setup, although does just sound like something is inverted that shouldn't be. I have to assume though that a (properly configured) joystick would make flying much easier? I saw one on Woot the other day and missed out, but my thinking was that it could only help, and may snag one if another shows up.Another control question for you guys - do you invert your mouse (up=looking down) or leave it regular? I've always had FPS set to invert the mouse, and while that works fine for when I'm walking around, when I'm in a stationary gun (tank, sandbag machine gun, etc.) or vehicle, I find I frequently push the wrong way first - I try to use it as if it wasn't inverted. Obviously this is probably just a personal preference thing, and just gotta get used to one way or the other, but I was just curious what the most common method is.

I plan on playing Special Forces Maps for a little while now. Too many blank spaces where medals and badges should be. Quite frankly, I've been pwning there this weekend during the day so I wonder if the competition isn't as good?

Cooleyo played last night with me on some SpecFor maps. Anyone else?

I commanded a sharqi map today. We lost tv station before my first scan was completed. I got off one arty strike and one UAV before those assets were down. I was killed trying to restore them and ended up spawning elsewhere on the map and trying to rally multiple attempts to re-take TV station. No one would cooperate. :(

One of the most frustrating things happened to me yesterday...

I was the US playing Karkand and, somehow, the two of the enemy's got ahold of our only tank and apc... so all they did was post at our base and spawn kill like crazy. I must have gotten killed like 6 times by them (I know it's partly my fault for spawning there knowing they're there), but I really wanted to AT their candy-###es. They sat there side by side past the scan center out in the boonies so you wouldn't be able to sneek up behind them.

After I was able to hit one of them with a few rockets, it didn't take me long to realize they were both mechanics.... I tried to get a few guys to AT up and hit one of them with 3-4 rockets at once, but no-one wanted to play along.

I just gave up and took my battle into town.

Like 11 kills IAR while using the kit. level 2 is 16 hours using the kit and 22 kills.

I want to go for some ribbons tonight, but I'll play regular if that's where the "team" will be.

I am always game for SF - just need to start up a server and we can jump on.

Not all of us have it, so in the interest of having a large group of us play, we just play what everyone has. I'll start tonight on SF after 24, then move to whatever I need to do.By the way, I showed Cooleyo the other night. YOu don't have to exit BF2 to go to SF or vice versa. You just go under community tab, choose custom games, then select either xpack to go play SF, or bf2 to go from SF to bf2. The game will restart, but it's a simpler method. When you shut the game down, it will use whichever mod you START the game with so you don't have to switch back or anything next time you play.

I know Cooleyo had a good time last night.
Hey, what exactly happened last night on that French server? All I hear is someone TK'ing for a vehicle... and then before I know it one (or more) of you guys are ramming someone in a vehicle off a ledge?!?

I don't know the whole story, but that sounds about right. We boxed him in. He started firing on us, then we flipped him up over the ledge by square and his APC wedged in between the first building and the retaining wall.

That was after I had hit him with the TOW while playing on the opposing team. Before the server switched the team I was on the guy had been trying to TK us so he could get the armor instead of us. I make one crack about what happened to the guy and I got kicked. And yet I wasn't even involved in flipping him over. Leave it to the French to confuse things.

Very true. Although that they could kick me without giving their true identity likely gave them the courage to sack up.

:lmao: If he landed upside down I bet his apc smashed him while he was trying to get out.

anyone ever do that? you roll your jeep and so you get out only to be killed when the damn thing -still moving- smashes you?

Not too long... maybe 10-15 minutes after. It was still the same match.I only asked what happened because I do remember someone (probably an admin) typing something like "FBG is done".

I ended up sticking around long enough for the match to end.

http://www.ea.com/official/battlefield/bat...tyupdate_042506

Although the 1.3 patch is still being worked on we wanted to provide a peek at what you can expect with the coming release:

NEW FEATURES

Co-op: Co-op Mode allows you to play Single Player levels on the Internet and LAN with both AI controlled bots and human players. Several new options have been created that will allow the server creator to modify how the bots behave in game.

Air dropped vehicles: Squad members can now send a request up the chain of command for a vehicle to be dropped at their location.

BUG FIXES & GAME PLAY TWEAKS

Prevented ban list from being cleared in the event of a server crash.

Fixed issue with players not properly ranking up on servers where they continuously play.

Fixed bug where friendly vehicles show up as valid targets.

Friendly Vehicle lock: Lock-on weapons do not lock on to friendly vehicles. The box with an X through it will still appear, but a lock tone will not sound and then if fired, the missile will not track the friendly target.

Keep in mind this is only a part of what 1.3 will include. Our live team is working diligently to provide the best update possible in preparation for the release of the Armored Fury booster pack!

Perhaps we need to return to the server and announce that FBG stands for French ******* Ganker.

It won't be long till someone perfects the art of dropping an APC right on top of an enemy.I can just see it now...

=FBG= Commander [APC Turds] Noob

some new game modes would be nice(supply lines, capture the flag) but i doubt they get in.
Supply lines - kinda like UT2004's mode?
I could see that as good and bad. I think one of the fun things about BF2 is that while it is team oriented, it is unstructured (you can pretty much cap each point at any time). You add the supply lines in in the UT2004 method, and that could make the game fairly structured. That would be good for me (ie. newbies), since I'd always know where to head, but does take a little away from the current game as is, I think.

I encountered the same problem and quickly gave up (went back to mouse for vehicles). If you find the solution, let me know.

This is exactly what happened. This guy, PUNISHER(RIP) by the way (I added him to my buddy list so I can stalk him) starts firing nades at Mark Davis and I waiting for the APC to respawn. He gets the APC and Mark and I proceed to make him intentionally TK us. Then I spawn and get a Vodnik and just get all in the guys way. Shawn comes rolling up in a tank and I yell for him to box him in. We have this dude completely boxed, he breaks free and basically does a circle over there by Square on Karkand. Shawn is still there and he runs into him, ramping the APC up a little. I then come flying in with the Vodnik and ram him, and the guy is now balancing on the Square wall. Shawn turns his turret and the guy tumbles over. I am dying laughing. His APC is wedged (but upright) in the little walkway behind the buildings between Square and Market. I jump over to see if it blows up, and I see him jump out only to get squished. It was great. Mark Davis got the "Have a nice season, guy", and then we dumped out. Well worth it to torment a tk'ing punk.

Did we even get a "That won't fly here, guy" first?

Learned some stuff about flying today on the single player maps and from reading the forums.

1. Roll inverted to release flares. They give you an extra couple seconds of covered. You can adjust the roll rate in your aircraft control settings under options. I have mine at like 5.

2. Set your yaw factor at like 5 also. You can cover about 30 degrees in a second that way to really rake a base when strafing.

3. Always fly around in Air-to-ground mode. For a number of reasons. First, you don't light up an enemy aircrafts or helo's threat indicator if you are not in Air-to-Air mode. Second, you can't really destry an enemy jet unless you manuever into a position behind him anyway (passing shots are very unlikely to destroy him), so you manuever behind the enemy then switch to A-to-A mode. Third, it shows you well in advance of any possible ground threats which you can avoid (AA guns) or dip down and rake with the guns.

4. The flight dynamics are sophisticated enough that aerial manuevers work as intended. Immelmans, S-Turns all work as intended.

:goodposting: Although I have no idea what your technical jargon means. I had a blast killing people in a jet last night, to bad GNYSOBULL wasn't a fan of my handiwork. I'm going to adjust my settings to make them more sensitive, I was all over the place.

I'll be out until Sunday night, heading to the beach with the Fam. Kill some people for me.

Sorry to sound stupid (I make that apology alot) but on the single player modes, am I correct in assuming that you get no credit for your kills or tasks. I guess I don't quite understand the single person LAN stuf--what exactly is that?

On multiplayer, I am on my 3rd promotion and I have gotten ribbons, but I haven't gotten any unlocks yet. Is that a SF only thing or am I just missing something?

I just haven't played enough yet between the playoffs and on-line poker, it is hard finding the time to game alot.

Single player no credit, you must play on multiplayer ranked servers. You should have gotten one unlock by now I believe, not sure what's up with that.

Usually you get the unlock and the promotion after your first scored point on your first gaming session after earning enough points. Did you just get Lcpl?

I am very hit or miss with jets. That bombing thing is tricky and goes in spurts. Some days, I hit everything. Other days, not so much. I fly with keyboard and mouse, too. I need to use the mouse to change DPI when flying. Sometimes I want it more sensitive (for things like dogfighting) but want it less so when strafing to allow a more consistent killzone.

F switches back and forth, but I need to hot-button that one too. GB my Logitech LX518

The bombing reticle shows a inverted curved line suspended below a line that always stays perpendicular to the ground. The point where the former meets the latter is where the bombs will impact at level flight at 600KMPH. You are usually going faster than that. So the faster you are going to close to the center of the bombsight you need to aim, in other words you need to drop the bombs mcuh earlier at 960KMPH than you do at 600KMPH.

If you are not flying level, you need to account for this as well. If you pull up as you're dropping the bombs, you will lift them up much furhter ahead than you were aiming. If you are going to dive bomb, you must make sure the bombs are away before you begin your climb out of the dive.

Basically, if you drop the bombs after the target has passed beneath that intersection point mentioned in the first paragraph it was too late.

Also remember the bombs are special. Seriously. the have drag fins that allow your plane to clear the blast zone before they impact. This means that fast moving targets you need to lead with the bombs.

That's why when I see a plane bank into a bombing run on me, I always charge towards them. Close that distance as fast as possible and he might overshoot.

I PWN flight sims.

LOL, it replaced the word RE-TARD with special. Technicall, the bombs are considered r-e-t-a-r-d-e-d it's not a slur, it refers to drag fins that deploy to slow the flight of the bomb.

Great stuff Gator. That would explain three or four reason why I miss the whole carrier when I tried it the first time. I also need to setup a quick button to see my results after a run. I think its the forward chase cam.
