Great flop here. BTW, I've come to hate the limp re raise preflop with aces- it totally gives your hand away. If he had played this more straightforward then he might have gotten more of my chips in preflop. As it was, I way willing to lay this hand down after the flop, although it might've been a bit harder than my similar laydown yesterday because of his shortstack.

I believe Assani was referring to the fact he was willing to lay down his pocket queens if the flop did not help him. An example would be if maybe an Ace or King came up and he didn't feel his queens were good anymore. So basically what he was saying is that he wasn't going to call down all the way with queens if he didn't think they were good.

So after nearly 3 years as an online poker player, I've finally broken down and spared the $55 for Poker Tracker. It'll be nice to be able to post the stats that it gives me along with my other writings here. I'll wait to get somewhat more of a sample size first though. I also bought PokerAce Hud, as it was only $25 more and offered a few addittional features.

2:00 now. Gonna play some NLHE at Party. Plan on playing in some MTTs later on tonight. Have a business meeting around 4:00 and would like to get to the gym sometime today...other than that, I should be able to focus on poker. My friend Kent came over and watched me play last night(hes the one who convicnced me finally that PT was worth it). He brought up the issue of me burning out playing so much. I am playing a ridiculous amount of hands per day right now, but honestly I feel no fatigue at all. I realize that the fact that I'm running so well probably has something to do with that though, and it'll undoubtedly be tougher when I go through bad stretches. Anyway, lets get things started....

Absolutely nothing going right so far. Looking back on this hand, I absolutely should've pushed on the turn imo. I think I feared that he had rags and had hit two pair because he was playing out of the BB- in fact, the fact that he was the BB made it hard to put him on anything since theres a ton of hands that he'd call $40 into a $140 pot with preflop. I was hoping to hit the flush obviously on the river, and hoped that my call of his check raise would scare off his aggression if I didn't hit it and I could check it down. After the river, I simply couldn't put him on a hand worse than 2 pair other than a bluff, and I'm not in the business of calling down bluffs with one pair on the river unless I really feel strongly. Very very upset at how I played this hand though.

Kent just busted out on a ridiculous bad beat...have to feel bad for him. He had KK and raised preflop and pushed on a ragged flopped. AJ called him and spiked an ace on the river.

Wow, I guess I got a little lucky here(he was a 55/45 favorite after the flop when most of the money went in), but I have to think that I played it well. How the hell does he call that bet on the flop? What hand does he think I'm raising preflop and then check raising with?? FWIW, I had stolen the blinds 2 or 3 times recently, so perhaps that factored into his decision a little. I dunno.

He didn't min. raise...he made it $600 to go, which most likely meant that all the money was going in on the turn. I can't make a play based upon runner-runner flush draw...that never even enters my thoughts. Why do you think AQ or AK? I think his flat call of my preflop raise screams "drawing hand". JJ wouldn't surprise me in the least. See my notes about aggression on the first page of this thread. An A or K could win it for me, but there no way to be confident about that, and I think that the 3rd guy could've easily had AK, which takes away two of my outs. Re-raising here pretty much commits my entire stack to the pot. Do you really want to risk your entire stack of $2000 on a missed AK when the opponent has shown extreme aggression by coming over the top of you(and he did so with the 3rd guy still to act). His move there showed extreme strength. I'm perfectly fine with letting a guy overplaying AK take this pot from me here, as if he did play AK that way, then its a horrible horrible move imo and he won't be playing at these stakes for long.

actually I think I was mistaken. You're right...he did min. raise. I think a set is possible here. I think hes firing on the turn and I'm going to be in a tough spot. I think I'm beat and I don't know how badly, and he is the aggressor...I don't like this spot.

actually I think I was mistaken. You're right...he did min. raise. I think a set is possible here. I think hes firing on the turn and I'm going to be in a tough spot. I think I'm beat and I don't know how badly, and he is the aggressor...I don't like this spot.

Well, here is my thought process:You are on the button, V1 in the SB and V2 in MP. V2 limps, you raise ~5BB from the cutoff, V1 and V2 call. ~15BB in the middle

(~15BB) T 7 2 rainbow. Texture of flop is that is missed everyone. Checked to you the raiser and you put out 2/3 of the pot continuation bet. You probably make continuation bets 99% of the time when you are the PF raiser.

V1 knows you dont have a flush draw. He doesnt know how much you like your hand. I would guess he puts you about 1/3 to be a complete bluff, 1/3 to be drawing, and 1/3 to a made hand. I read his min-raise as "how much do you like your hand?" Raising into V2 is weird, which makes me think he is trying to get you HU and does not have a set. Would you play a set like this?

Its 10BB to you, there is ~45BB in the middle giving you just about 5-1 to make a call. If a club does come, you are ~4-1 to hit it again on the river. Will he bet more the 1/4 of the pot on the turn with you calling his CR? Your flush would be hidden well.

The 3-bet would be if you think he is trying to put you off your hand. What would the chances be of him folding? For me, if I have a strong hand, I always wants to give my opponent a chance to put more chips in the middle. A 3-bet would be advertising AA-KK, again I would play a set slower.

In the end with the texture of the flop, your 5BB raise PF, you having position against a CR with t72R flop ... I think you have the best hand. I dont know your opponent, maybe you had a read on him. I dont like a fold here though, not with what the pot is offering you and possibly 6 more outs with AK.

Did V1 have any image? Were you able to pick up anything 4-tabling? I would imagine your image was one of trying to steal the blinds from the button more than 25% of the time. Do you think he would call 4BB from the SB with AT?

1 thing to keep in mind is how you are playing AK (suited or otherwise), now I realize this is a ridiculously small sampling, but I would assume you play AK pretty much the same way each time, let's take a peak at your last session:

(suited) PF Action: reraise

Result: fold

(suited) PF Action: reraise

Result: fold

(unsuited) PF Action: raise (first in pot)

Result: fold

One leak I patched in my game was not building pots with AQ or AK. I could be wrong but it looks to me like you are playing this hand very aggressively - often reraising PF.

Granted there could be mitigating circumstances for why you reraised in each situation. I was kinda shocked to find out you are playing these stakes and have not been using PT all along. PT is well worth the money (100 fold in your case), it is much easier to find leaks in your game. You may have very good reasons for playing these hands as aggressively as you have - on a good note you know when to let those hands go and fold, but I think you could do yourself one better and not put so much stake in them to begin with - you will get those cards more often then you would like to think and if you have a leak playing them PF it will add up.

I just looked over the first session you posted on page 1 - same behavior - you raise or reraise each time you got AQ or AK. At the very least you might want to mix it up a little or only raise in favorable positions (CO or Button).

I don't think I had a loose image really yet. I think his raise with someone still to act is a very powerful move. I don't think its very likely that all 6 of my potential outs were live. I understand his move if he thinks that I'm trying to by the pot there with a continuation bet. If hes going to do that then I'll crush him when I have a legit hand by smooth calling there and letting him fire again on the turn before I come over the top, and he'll start to think twice about that move. In the meantime, I think I'll wait for a better opportunity.

Very small sample size so far, so we'll have to wait for more results. From my first 3 days of playing, I am:+$5132.50 with AK

-$1851 with AQ

At third break, I have 27K, average is 29K, 27 left, already in money, need to get to final table to start to make anything significant.

Thoughts about calling here. If BB folds, then I'm gettting decent pot odds. But the fact that the BB was the big stack scared me a bit, and I wasn't sure if I wanted to push in order to isolate.

Sure this play will be questioned. My thinking is this: Theres no way he checked preflop with an ace, so I completely rule that out. I think he would feel the same about me and bet an 8 on the flop- Obviously I was wrong about this. So when I hit 3rd pair on the turn, I think I'm good, and I check to induce a bet. Frusterated to get so far and not win it. More frusterated that I was outplayed.

Wow what a mixed day. I started off running terribly- Quickly lost $4K. Came back after a break and won a little bit back. Then played very well in this MTT. Got to the final 20 players or so and hit a rough stretch...looked like I was done with only 4K in chips and blinds at 1.5K/3K. Was upset because I had played for so long and it looked to be a miniscule payday. Then the cards ran me over and I was quickly the chip leader at the final table. Then I got to the final 3 and for the first time in a while, I feel as if I was clearly outplayed in a big situation(by big situation I mean a time where I was not multi-tabling and the money was very signficant to me). So I'm very upset at myself over that. But at the same time, I just logged my 4th winning day in a row...how can I be upset over that? This is starting to wear a bit on me though. I'm not ready to go to bed now, but I don't know if I can play anymore right now. As it stands right now, I'm +$3274 on the day. I might play some more....not sure. BTW, was looking over my stats at thepokerdb.com. Allow me to brag a bit about my recent results at Stars:

Don't feel like I'm playing particularly well...I'm tired and not totally focused, but this hand was fairly straightforward and a nice score. I feared 8-10 a bit, but it was pretty much an easy insta-call....well nevermind, lost the HH there. Anyway, I ended up with a pretty good session mainly due to 2 big pots in which I flopped a set. This raised my winnings for the day to $5273. My stats for this last session:

I would put him at 66+, ATs+, AJo+. That gives you 38% equity and you were getting better then 2-1.
