Marques Colston is TE in CBS LEAGUES! (1 Viewer)

Marques Colston, while listed as a WR on the Player Page, shows up in the roster Grid as a Tight End and also as a Tight End when setting lineups.

I tested this by trying one of our Flex Rules.

The scenario I tested was one in which we can start

1 QB, 1RB, 3 WR, 2 TE, 1 K 1 Def

Example:

QB- Manning

RB - Gore

WR - Moss

WR - Glenn

WR - Colston

TE - Shockey

TE - Gates

K - Reed

D - Indy

This should be ok by league rules, however, it keeps saying I have 3 Tight Ends and my lineup is illegal. Obviously it is listing Colston as a Tight End.

Anyone else notice this? Anyone heard from CBS on this? Should the league mandate that Colston is a WR or play it as CBS has it?

Do you have to start 2 TE's? If so, then keep quiet about wanting to make Colston a WR. You would have quite possibly the 3 best TE's. Teams should be offering up value for one of those guys.

he's a WR in my league.
me too. If I insert him for my TE spot, I get a "too many WR's" message

He is listed as a WR in my CBS Sportsline league. He also shows up as a WR on the roster too.

Trust me I tested it. You will only be able to tell if you try to plug him in to your lineup. The player page says Wide Receiver, but the lineup and roster Grid have him at Tight End.

As I mentioned a couple of posts above, I did in fact try to insert him in my lineup. He is a WR in my league and causes an error message that I have too many recievers if I insert him in my lineup as if he were a TE. He is also listed as a WR in our roster grid

couldn't find red X smiley.Roster Grid - listed as WRTry to put him in lineup - You have 3 wrs and no TE's.

Even if he WAS listed as a TE on cbs, the NFL lists him as a WR so I wouldnt be able to play him as a TE.

I am the commish in my CBS league, have a TE requirement, and can't do as directed above. I could, however, use him as a TE until just before week 1. You must have found some goofy loophole, so exploit it while you can! Just hope that the 'loophole' doesn't change at some point making your roster illegal and you loosing that week!

How many posts do we have to see on this subject

he is a second tier wr or second tier player in general

can we please MOVE ON ..

I have no idea why this works for my league and no other. I'm the commish so I had the owner try and see what happened if he set the lineup as noted.

Reply

In the format you just laid out, sportsline tells me i have an illegal lineup, even though Colston is listed as a WR. Saying I have three tight ends.

Original Text

Try putting Colstin in your lineup that consists of... I want to see if it works for you. CBS is saying he is a WR and this should not cause an error.

1 QB

1RB

3 WR Include Colston

2 TE

1 K

1 DEF

I dont get how any league would let you start him as a TE even though hes a WR, regardless of how the site lists him.

If Peyton Manning somehow was listed as a RB on your league site, would your league let you start him as one? I doubt it. So why do some leagues allow Colston to start as a TE when hes NOT ONE?

The only way I can see him as a TE in CBS is if the Commish used the "Edit Service Time " option to manually puy him as a TE.

He is a WR , no matter what the site says, and in my league he is not eligible as a TE.

imho, exploiting "loopholes" isn't what a fantasy league is all about, especially when money is on the line. Unless the league constitution specifically has a rule that allows multi-position players (and what criteria establishes them as being multi-position), then what sportsline "allows" you to do and what the rules state are not in alignment. As commissioner in my league, best case is I would put the current season to a vote, and set some firm guidelines in place for next year. (Which I've already noted for our league's offseason rule change discussion.)But.. that's just me. Maybe I'm old school where some things called 'honor' and 'integrity' mean a damn. :nerd: fwiw, our sportsline site does not have this loophole.or, is the OP just trolling?

Edit I thought it was just CBS , apparently Yahoo has him as a TE as well.

Good question. Everybody knows he is not a TE.

just plugged him in to my lineup

says "warning you have 0 active tight ends. between 1 and 4 are allowed."

but it doesn't say "WARNING: Your lineup is illegal"

this is great news. i don't have to waive anyone to fill the TE spot when Shockey goes on bye.

I would be careful with that stratagy, it may not work as well as planned. Unless you league allows up to 4 starting TE's, that warning message tells me your league is not set up correctly for roster requirements. It is also telling you you have 0 TE's and that at least 1 is required.

FYI, picked him up today in Yahoo league and he is currently at TE for me in place of Gates. Did he play TE at all in college?

If he can start at TE on Sunday, not my fault. But I will check Sunday at gametime to make sure it is not changed.

He was my starting TE in two Yahoo leagues last week.

Scored better than Watson and Crumpler so it worked out well. I have no clue why he is a WR/TE, but I like it :)

waiting for a clarification reply from CBS. i have 12 days to figure it out.

It is your fault if you play him in the TE position when you know he is a WR. You are taking advantage of a flaw on Yahoo. Your other teammates are playing TE's in the TE position, but you are knowlingly playing a WR in that position, all because you can get away with it.

I wouldn't say it's necessarily a "flaw" -- Yahoo deliberately listed him as both a WR and a TE, just as it deliberately lists Chris Cooley as a RB and TE.At some point Yahoo will re-evaluate this decision and they will probably revoke his TE status.

Fanball's system is a little weird with Colston through tomorrow (they say it will be fixed then.) I wonder if the same thing is happening with CBS:

Basically in Fanball, if you have owned Colston since the beginning of the season, you still have the ability to start him as a TE (and not as a WR). But, once he has been dropped and then added, you no longer can no longer start him as a TE, only as a WR. Basically it is fixed in their system, but for some reason that doesn't translate to teams that have owned him since before week 1. The fix for commissioners until Wednesday (I believe) was to drop him from the team and add him back, thereby updating his status to only be able to start at WR.

Fanball also left a message stating that his status will be updated in all leagues Wednesday (I believe) regardless of when he was added.

I run 2 leagues on CBS. One league had him as WR and the other a TE. The league where he is a TE, I dropped him and added him back to the team and it corrected the problem. Have your commish do this.

I am in two CBS Leagues as well. One he is listed as a WR but shows up in the Lineup/Roster Grid as a Tight End, and the other he is simply a WR in both name and Lineup/Roster.

I do think it has to do with when he was picked up as the league in which he was a TE he was picked up Week 1.

The second league he was a free agent that was just picked off the waiver wire. In this league is can only be used as a WR.

I believe that's the way Yahoo works too. He'll be "grandfathered in" if you already have him, but not if you pick him up after the status change.

Don't think so. I just picked him up (Monday) and he's still got the WR / TE option. Though he hasn't been rostered yet by any of the 10 teams.

Did the guy ever even play TE .... ??

In baseball you can play a guy recently called up form the Minors or a Rookie at a position where he played in the Minors (Josh Willingham at C) for at least 1 year.

 I picked him up a week before week 1. He was listed as a TE at that time, but the next day it was changed to a WR. I told the commissioner when I picked him up that he wasn't a TE, and the commissioner said CBS will probably change it, but if they didn't in a few days, he would change it himself. CBS changed it, and this was before week 1 started.
