went to Saphire last night for the first time, big fan, I like it more then Rhino, much less upsell hustle, although I did meet one stunner that would only do private room (pass). My buddy says I need to check out OG, is it worth it?

I'm a big fan of OG. Most of the girls are super "friendly." If you get one you aren't super happy with, just move on to the next one. With a little patience and a little dough, you will have a great time...

Keep the reviews coming. I'm planning a bachelor party there for this summer, leaning towards Rhino at the moment. Been to OG, it was pretty good there.

you might want to checkout Saphire (702.303.3430 - free transportation too) instead of Rhino. I've been to Rhino drunk and been scammed pretty bad, took a girl to the back room, she never told me my time was up and ended up charging me 3x the amount, and then told me I had to tip the bouncer like $100 or something crazy like that. At Saphire, the waitress comes by when your time is up. Overall less upsell hustle at Saphire too, at Rhino, half the girls I talked to would not do regular dances, they were back room only. Talent is really the same between the two places. Hell I either met a playboy playmate at Saphire or she was wearing a fake diamond bunny necklace, she looked like Holly from the Girls Next Door show. She was a very attractive blond that says she was from 2004, looks like it might have been Miss July from that year after doing a quick search. A lot more space at Saphire too, Rhino gets too packed particularly on weekends.

Anyone checkout the Green Door? Cabbie was telling me about it last night, I am intrigued, $80 to get in, no liquor. Girls at the strip club said that I should not go (sounds like two thumbs up to me). How sketchy is it? Cabbie said he can drive me for free from my hotel.
A quick search tells me to avoid this place at all costs:http://www.yelp.com/biz/green-door-las-vegas-las-vegas
love the reviews  There were themed rooms, like golden shower rooms and bondage rooms. And there were stripper poles and boxes of Kleenex everywhere. :kicksrock:

Sounds like a couple of you guys would have been off going to one of the legal brothels for what you paid for in lapdances/cover charges/drink minimums.

I tried the $20 trick at the Imperial Palace two weekends ago - SHUT DOWN. I didn't get my $65 room upgraded even though there is no way that the hotel was booked full. :sadbanana:

My wife got a good laugh out of it though.

No upgrade at MGM Signature either, she said upgrades are $50 a night. My room is nice enough though where you don't need an upgrade, I think it is a jr. suite. The walk to the casino is a pain though (as expected). Taxi service is really easy though. Only 1 of the 3 pools for the 3 towers was open so you need a walk a bit for that too but it is not too bad. Gym is open 24/7, no sauna or steam room from what I can tell unless you walk to the spa at MGM.Next time I go to Vegas I think I will stay at Palazzo, I like their pool scene better, actually their sister hotel, I forget the name.

I was at the IP from the 12 to the 16th... Didn't try the $20 trick there, as I didn't think the hotel would have many upgrades available. What did you think of the Dealtainers?

What I do at the Imperial Palace is show them the bed bugs in the regular room. Then they upgrade me to their best suite, which is still worse than the worst room at the Mirage.

Maybe they were just confused, the actual upgrades may actually be cheaper than $20 at the IP. ;) (Not judging, stayed there twice myself)

That place is in one of those low-rent strip malls...the kind with a Discount Cigarette store.

I taught that stripper that trick you like.

$20 tip at Bally's check-in does wonders.

Now if only Louisville hadn't been the only #1 overall seed to fail to cover in the first round in like...well, forever...it would have been a great trip.

I gambled at Caesars Friday nite, and at the M Saturday nite, but ended up playing BJ late nite at the IP both nites. Dealertainers were fun, IMO. A little annoying in that they sometimes paused between hands to sing/dance along when I wanted them to just deal, but the atmosphere was definitely more live than at either Caesars or the M. People were BANGED UP and having a blast - overall I liked the dealertainers.

I know, right. Wifey and I ended up winning ~ 450 on the weekend, which covered our rooms, gas, meals, and drinks. It was essentially a free weekend in Vegas. Hell, we'd have spent $150-$200 if we'd have stayed home for the weekend.

yeah - i was on those tables for an hour or so, but it wasn't extremely lively at that time. and I was gambling with wifey, so it wasn't the same as if I'd have been with a bunch of guy friends.

We played most of our blackjack at the outdoor patio/bar area between the IP and Harrah's. Got pretty busy out there on Saturday night. I didn't play any of the tables in the IP though, couldn't handle the smoke smell in the casino there. We tried to get on at a table at Ceasar's in the Pcat doll area, but it was PACKED when we were there. I think my GF liked the show more then I did! :pics:

Id like to plan my first trip to Vegas for the wifey and myself, arrive Friday night, leave Sunday eve. Will be a surprise get-a-way for the wife.

Id say my priorities are:

1. Save some money on room to spend on Cirq show. We wont spend much time in there anyway. Where do I find the best deals in this area?

2. Not have to cab/bus much, would like to be in a central location. We will want to see what we can as we have both never been. Is there some sort of walking tour?

3. One expensive meal. Only recommendation to date is Lotus of Siam. We both love Thai.

4. Nice pool for some morning lounging. Ill be more hungover than her as she isnt a big drinker.

5. Fun casino for wife to play craps. Shes a beginner, but its basically the only gambling she does.

unwrap this for me like im 33 and never been to vegas before ...

Sounds like Flamingo to me - Good location / Good Pool / Good price.Food and Craps you will find.

Of all the Cirque du Soleil shows currently playing, which is a "must see". Need to get a show booked for Saturday night.
If you like the Beatles, definately "Love" I don't even really like them and liked the show. I preffered Mystere more than O but it was also the first Cirque show I went to. Mystere was funnier, O had too many water scenes, imo.

I can't help there. We always wait until the last minute to decide what to do and pay full price. We did the standby for Love

TommyGunz - How did you like M? Seen some great reviews on it.
loved it - thought it was lights out. was only there for 3-4 hours on a Sat nite, but the talent was outstanding for an off strip casino, and everything was clean and brand new (duh!). They had reasonable prices for food and drinks, and plenty of low limit tables. Flat screen TVs everywhere.

Has anyone here been to Sam Boyd Stadium? My googlefu indicates that u2's Vegas concert will be at this venue on 10/23. Looks like it's about a 15 minute cab ride from the strip to the stadium.

Great, I'll check it out in May. How far off the strip is it?

I've been to see music there. Getting a cab after the show is a ##### - the line will be absolutely ridiculous. I'd suggest greasing the cabbie who takes you to the show in an effort to get him to meet you somewhere close afterward. Decent venue though. Very cool views if you walk up to the top levels and look out over vegas as the sun sets.

8-10 miles?

1. i've been staying at the monte carlo, but better value at mirage and honestly a better location....see #5 for sure...2. mirage and a couple others right there fit..3. i love the palms at caesars but there are a ton of great places that i haven't even heard of...4. :lmao:5. by far the best place to learn/play craps on the strip is at the casino royale, a little #### pit across the street from the mirage...

Just got to Vegas today, and we are staying at the Hilton. It is a DUMP!!! My wife has a convention that is being held here so we thought we would stay close since the convention starts at 8 a.m., big mistake. We should have stayed at the Venetian or Bellagio again, and the price wasn't really that much different. The reviews online didn't have anything negative to say about the Hilton, but this place is like a Motel 8, and up charges on everything.

So tonight I am going to try and find a poker room close by...that's right no poker room at the Hilton. More updates coming...

Don't know about the best deals, but the best cirque show IMO is the original one at TI--Mystere.

Got back on Sunday from a weekend at Encore. Nice place but a lot tamer and smaller than Wynn. Even though Encore is nicer, I'd seriously consider staying at Wynn since going back and forth got to be a pain.

Somehow came out with money even though I was a drunken idiot on Fri Night.

Just got back from the Venetian. Nice hotel, had a great time, will be eating turkey sandwiches for a month.

Oh and the OG, I hate it. Give me the Rino way over that place.

Are you guys HHonors members? You should have been upgraded to one of the nice rooms - also the $20 trick works pretty often here as well.

I have seen Ka, Mystere and Love. They are all so different. I loved Love because I have a huge Beatle s fan, but Mystere was just plain awesome!!!!

I really found Ka boring, and wound not recommend it.

Here is a site I have used for finding discount tix in Vegas:

BMG 60.00

KA 69.00

MYSTERE 60.00

Have to scroll down a bit

Vegas discounts

There are some real good locals deals also. If you can hook up with FE or Assani, they could get the tix for you at a real discount.

Good info ... thanks

My guess is pool is going to be a relative priority as the schedule is dictating a July 24-26 weekend and it should be SCORTCHING. However, most of our time will be indoors.

Anyone have anything bad to say about the Flamingo? Prices seem great during that time of year.

The Flamingo was a bit of older crowd when I stayed there, but it was during the winter months. Pool was closed but looked cool.

Current agenda:

Hotel:

Flamingo - ~70/ni = $140

Shows:

Mystere - ~110ea = $220 (seems like locals can get MUCH better deals. I will hit up the FBG contingent)

Belagio Fountain - Free tourist thing. I will need further information on best time to attend, etc.

Fremont Street Experience Downtown Las Vegas - Reading online, looking for additional 'Vegas' things to see

Dining:

Mesa Grill - ~$220 (no booze / ultra expensive). Wife has been dieing to go to one of his resturants. I considered lunch, but this will be the splurge.

Ellis Island Casino & Brewery - Great rec's here. Price is right and has some gambling. Do they have craps?

Oyster Bar at Pennazi - Reading online. FBG thoughts? Decent reviews, decent price.

Gambling:

Still undecided. Will depend on free time in between other experiences. Might be based on time before/after shows and dining. Im not too worried.

Airport:

Best to get to and fro from airport? Cab? Hotel shuttle? Car rental?

We will be looking for low key since we will be escaping from 3 kids (5, 3, 1) for a weekend. Dont need craziness

If you're in the area, we usually pop in to see the lions at MGM Grand. And for a free show and a little Vegas kitsch, check out Big Elvis at Bill's Gamblin' Hall & Saloon. Free show, cheap drinks. Monday through Friday at 3:00, 5:00 and 6:30PM.

I'd bag Flamingo and stay somewhere nice. Rates are cheap. Try Bellagio, Wynn, Mandalay to start.
