players per position?

Recommended Posts

I'm drafting a 45 round, IDP, PPR, dynasty team, it's my first one and I' wondering if my breakdown for # of players per position makes sense. We start 18 players, 7 offense, 11 def. Very flexible line- ups. We also have 3 taxi squad and up to 5 IR.

I'm only listing the team thus far in case it helps you answer my question (this is NOT a rate my team post).

So far my team is:

QB:

Cutler 6.03

Quinn 21.10

Favre 26.03

RB:

Henry 1.10

MJD 2.03

Lynch 4.03

BJax 14.03

VMorency 23.10

AThomas 24.03

WR:

Colston 3.10

Ward 5.10

SHolmes 7.10

Cotchery 13.10

AGonzalez 15.10

RMeachem 18.03

TE:

HMiller 12.03

ODaniels 19.10

DE:

RMathis 10.03

TCole 16.03

DB:

Laron Landry 11.10

BSanders 17.10

EColeman 22.03

LShepard 25.10

LB:

KMorrison 8.03

DEdwards 9.10

NBarnett 20.03

my plan was to have

4 QB's

8 RB (can start up to 3)

7 WR (can start up to 4)

4 TE (but we can start 2, so maybe 4?)

6 DE's (we can start 3-4)

6 LB (we can start 3-4)

8 DB (we can start 4-5)

3K (maybe only need 2?)

but I'm wondering if that is a good plan? Are there areas you think I'll be thin if I take this approach? Am I skimping out anywhere?

I wouldn't carry a 3rd or 4th TE unless there's clear top 15 upside to be had or 3rd PK at all.

Use those spots wherever the best fit appears to be, but I'd plan on rostering another LB for sure.

4 QB's 8 RB (can start up to 3) 7 WR (can start up to 4) 4 TE (but we can start 2, so maybe 4?) 6 DE's (we can start 3-4) 6 LB (we can start 3-4) 8 DB (we can start 4-5) 3K (maybe only need 2?)

1 PK, unless it's 18 teams or more3 TE max, probably 2.You can get away with 5 DL7-8 LB - they are the "RB of the D"

We can start 2 TE's so that is why I was figuring 4, also I think our def scoring evens out the value of LB's a bit. We can also start up to 5 DB's which is why I figured I should have more DB's than the other positions. LB's 2 forced fumbles 2 Passes Def'd 1 Tackles .5 assists 1.5 for every .5 sacks DE/DT's 2 forced fumbles 3 passes def'd 2 tackles 1 assists 2 for every .5 sacks DB's 6 tackles 10-19 12 tackles 20-29 18 tackles 30-39 24 tackles 40-49 6 2-3.5 sacks 12 4-5.5 sacks 18 6-7.5 sacks 24 8-9.5 sacks

I still think you're not going to find enough TE's to play to need to carry 4. 3 shoudl be plenty, 2 and a bye week fill-in/project.

I'm in a league wehre DL are boosted relative to LB, and everyone usually carries more LB, there are a number of DL who won't help you.

At some point it's not goign to eb abotu how many where, but who's how talented where.
