QB Bulger

RB R. Bush, R. Johnson, Benson

WR S. Smith, Boldin, Reggie Williams, Engram, Porter

TE Heap

K

DS

Added a couple of guys. My thoughts:

QB: Bulger was the end of a tier for me in the top 7-8 QBs in my mind. 2nd QBs all went too early; better to take value at other slots. We'll see what happens from here.

RB: 3 starters from last year, all with concerns. Bush should be fine, especially in a PPR; other 2 are much more questionable. Need some additional depth here.

WR: Pretty strong group; 2 likely top 10 guys in Smith and Boldin, plus Engram for stability. Reggie and Porter should provide some high scoring weeks, hopefully to offset other off weeks from the top guys. May look for some added depth if value falls, but pretty good group here.

TE: Heap should be recovered from his hammy issues, and has played 16 games in 4 of 5 years before this past one. What will Cam's offense look like, and who will the QB be? Had I known Shockey would have dropped as far as he did, might have held off a little longer, but a likely top 3 TE in the 5th can't be passed in this format.

Overall: Foundation is OK so far; didn't participate in the QB run, allowing for better WR depth. We'll see what shakes out to see if it was worth it.

self critique:

QB E. Manning, A. Smith

Eli is boring, but has that job sown up. Also showed great improvement with the pressure on in the playoffs. Should reduce his turnovers, he had 27 last year, dont effect this league cause there is no minus for TO. But also killed some drives that would have resulted in more TD's.

Alex smith should get decent numbers with Martz at the helm. Showed improvement with Norv vs. rookie season. Regressed last year with different OC. 3rd OC in 3 years. I was in the QB run hopefully I only need Alex a week or two

RB McGahee, F. Taylor, D. Foster

Solid here yet unspectacular. McGahee with Cam in town now will be a focal point and is a good end of round 1 RB1. Taylor is the energizer bunny. Foster adds a little depth and the coach just keep playing him.

WR Jennings, Roy Williams, D. Jackson,Bruce

Nice top 2 if I do say so myself. Upside potential in the Martz O with Djax. Bruce is just a solid producer

TE Gates

Gates, nuff said. Top 3 TE take it to the bank, 300 points in these leagues. Bewarned though, I think his numbers might decrease from last year cause VJax/CHambers been getting it done. The SD passing O is on the verge of exploding

You might want to temper that Top 3 TE mark - by your own admissions, he actually DID decrease from Week 7 onward to finish as the #7 TE over that period (basically when Chambers arrived).

He will get plenty of stats.I'd be willing to sig bet his top 3 status at the end of next season in these leagues

thoughts on the rest of my squad?

Not bad, but I think Smith isn't a lock to start.

Again, another good group. Not sold on DJax, but good other 3 for certain. DJax's volatility should be smoothed by Jennings and Bruce.

Solid #1 TE, but might be too pricy again this year in redrafts. Many are starting to close the gap (about 5-7 on his heels).

As someone said, I think a lot depends on Shockey and whether he returns to form. Rudy's comments about drafting the 2nd QB early are interesting because the 2nd QB position killed me in 2 of my SSLs last year. In 1 SSL where I drafted 2 QBs, I was down to zero within a few weeks. In WSL, I had only Brees all season because Frye didn't play. Last season saw so much QB injuries that I wanted 2 sure-fire starters. I don't even have that, given that Edwards may not be a lock over Losman.

Thanks for the thoughts Jeff.Im pretty sure that the Owners of the Niners will have A.Smith starting the season for sure. Lots of cash invested there.

Could he struggle? yep. Could he be injured by week 6 cause Martz hangs him out to dry? Yep. Hopefully I only need him a week or two, now that Eli seemd to turn the corner

RZRBACK77 1.-11

QB McNabb, J. Russell - I really like having two guys that are known in the off-season to be starters in this format. McNabb is a consistent scorer at QB as long as he is on the field. I am sure that Russell will have a lot of bumps as a new starter and in Oakland, but he should start and he is tough as nails. I like the value here as I drafted these two as QB11 and 22.

RB Portis, Maroney, and S. Morris- YIKES! What was I thinking? I only have two RBs. I look at it this way. You can't be strong at every position. I have two guys that should play as long as they are healthy. Both are good at the goal line and Portis is an excellent receiver. I think that the Patriots passing attack will continue to be strong, but the running game will also be stout and Maroney will lead as he has down the stretch. If these two hold up, I should be able to compete against most teams here in this 16-team league while my WR depth will also assist the overall squad. Definitely need a couple of value picks late to supplement my dynamic duo.

WR Cotchery, Coles, A. Gonzalez, Stallworth, Burleson, S. Smith (NYG), Booker - Waited late to grab my first WR getting Cotchery at WR19 and 4.6. But added six more for quality depth while other teams added RB depth and TE depth. I hope that all seven of these gentlemen get prominent PT. Gonzalez should build on his rookie year and even be involved with Harrison back. Steve Smith got a lot more involved down the stretch for the Giants. Solid depth is a key to surviving and I like my chances with this group.

TE T. Gonzalez - Hope that Gonzalez continues to be the top target for the Chiefs weak passing attacj.

K and DS will be added later.

I do like the Irons upside pick, but your RB's have considerable questionmarks at this pointThe lack of any real TE scoring should be a concern as well. You'll need BigBen and your WR to carry you .

Yeah, I'm very high on Irons, I believe he is the best RB on the roster when healthy...he's one of my early sleeper picks for '08(now watch his ADP skyrocket)As for the question marks, I think people will like my RBs a lot more after the draft.

 And Bowe, Walter and Kelley for WR3 doesn't sound very good. This team has the chance to break a record for most "0"s posted in December with all those ? marks - either for age, health, rookie....

They are better than they sound...Bowe could be the next superstar WR. Walter was good for 60 receptions his first year as a starter and Kelley could have an impact right away.I love my WR depth.

I think that you are posturing. You only have five WRs total and one of them is a2nd year guy on a team without much of a QB and another is a rookie. Five slots for three scorers in a position known for volatility. Doesn't sound like something to love.

Bowe could be the next superstar
Bowe certainly could be the next superstar if KC had an actual QB. Certainly possible he hits top 25 numbers again, but relying on Croyle for those numbers...

BASSnBREW 1.-12

QB Palmer, Redman

I was fully prepared to go with one QB but thought Redman offered some promise to win the job in Altanta. With Palmer on board I couldn't justify burning a mid round pick on a guy who would only score a week or two.

RB Grant, W. Parker, Norwood, T. Henry

It's possible that I have 4 opening day starters rostered. Grant and Parker both offer two five potential but have questions and could bust. Norwood should be the starter in Atlanta and has exceelent stats when he plays. Shanahan wouldn't have gone to the mat for Henry unless he had plans for him.

WR J. Walker, Mark Clayton, C. Henry, D. Bennett, C. Jackson, Meacham, Jarrett, Mike Clayton

I'll finish in the middle of the pack or be a contender based on the performance of this group. Walker is risky as a WR1 but has the talent to finish top 5. Last year Clayton was a hot pick, this year the old man Mason. I betting the pendulum swings back. Henry...needs to stay out of jail and he'll score for me nicely in six weeks. I Bruce leaves the Rams then Bennett is a steal and I'm looking better. Jackson/Meacham/Jarrett all have more talent than the rookies that flew off the board. I suspect one will hit and two will bust. Clayton...hopefully he'll keep me from eating donuts on occasion.

TE Daniels, Crumpler

A strong area for my team. Crumpler that late was a gift.

K Kaeding, Scobee

Two that have jobs.

DS Chicago, Dallas

Two of the better fantasy defenses.

Very happy with this team. Things broke well for my in this draft and I think I scooped up a ton of value. As mentioned, WR will make or break this team

QB Roethlisberger, Garcia
Two solid ProBowl QBs...Garcia was good value IMHO.
RB R. Brown, S. Alexander, Mendenhall, C. Williams, K. Irons
I like this group quite a bit. Mendenhall has a the skillset to produce right out of the gates and Brown/Alexander should be starting week 1. Caddy was a risk/reward pick who is more likely to contribute two to three months into the season. Irons is one of my favorite sleepers this year as I believe he's the best back on the cincy roster.
WR R. Moss, S. Holmes, D. Bowe, K. Walter, M. Kelley ®, Limas Sweed ®, Craig Davis
Really like my WRs. A little bit of risk with Kelley/Sweed/Davis at WRs 4-7, but I believe I'm strong enough at the top to take on that kind of risk. Moss is like two WRs if he stays in NE.
TE E. Johnson, L. Pope
I'll need Johnson to play most games to be average at the position. Pope was real value where I got him.
K Gostkowski. ElamDS Jacksonville, Arizona
Went early on both K and D to make sure I didn't have any holes.I like this squad quite a bit and wouldn't have done things much differently in hindsight.

If your RBs don't #### the bed (way too much risk here), you might be a contender for second place.

Interestingly enough I see holes in all of the competition. Usually I see a couple of clear cut favorites. I also think the second half of the snake fielded stronger teams than the first half...I've near seen one of the drafts where I felt that way.

Agreed, and I think what we don't see now is what impact some of these rookies will make. I think the teams for the most part are all pretty close and the difference maker will be one or two of these rookies that come thru and have a nice season. It's always fun looking back and seeing a draft this early and seeing where everyone's mind was at.

Im going to give my hubmle opinion on all teams, a little different way this year:

FULLBACK FRO 1.-1

QB Brees, Delhomme

RB Tomlinson, J. Stewart, Fargas

WR B. Edwards, Roydell Williams, Patten, Stokely, D. Williams, D. Carter, Lelie

TE Dallas Clark, Scheffler

K Nugent, Tynes

DS Washington, San Francisco

Strength - LT,Brees,Braylon, solid TE platoon duo

Weakness- not much after LT at RB, alot of upside guys at WR after Braylon but looks a little weak to me

Will Win it all if - LT is LT, Stewart lands in a non RBBC job and a few upside WR come up big - Roydell and Dem WIlliams best bet here

Overall - A solid enough looking sqaud but to me looks a little weak at WR.

QB Kitna, V. Young

RB ADP, Dwill, C. Taylor, F. Jones, L. Jordan

WR Fitzgerald, Chad Johnson, L. Evans, B. Johnson, Furrey, D. Henderson

TE L.J. Smith, McMichael

K Folk

DS Buffalo, Cleveland

Strength - Deep looking RB squad, nice WR core

Weakness - Kitna/VYoung - solid value where you got them, might be good enough, no Martz in Det means less throwing and Vyoung is well Vyoung

Will Win it all if - LJ smith can be productive, got a nice bit of news with the Eagles franchising him. Need BJohnson atWr to land in a good spot.

overall - This is what a top of the draft team should look like. Good Job PAE

RUDY 1.-3

QB Brady, Croyle

RB McFadden, B. Jacobs, C. Johnson ®, Betts

WR Hackett, V. Jackson, Crayton, Wilford, J. Hardy®

TE Witten, M. Lewis

K Nedney, Lindell

DS Houston, Detroit

Strength - Brady,Witten

Weakness - RB/WR

Will Win it all IF - McFadden is ADP2, Hackett and VJax step up big

Overall - I know this is Rudys draft style in these, he has won a couple SSL's over the years. I dont think this squad has much of a chance to do that though

FRANK BLACK 1.-4

QB Hasselbeck, T. Edwards

RB Addai, E. James, Keith, M. Bush

WR Holt, Chambers, Reggie Brown, James Jones, M. Jenkins, L. Moore

TE Shockey, A. Smith

K Graham, Kasay

DS Denver, Cincinnati

Strength - Addai, top3 WR

Weakness - unknows about Hasslebeck's WR, Shockey? - RB2, I think Edge is on the downside for sure.

Will win iF - Shockey returns to form, Bush plays in Oak, Hasslebeck's starting WR arent Obomanu & Burleson all year

Overall - Solid squad here Frank, should survive awhile. Chambers will have a nice season

FIDDLES 1.-5

QB Rivers, Warner

RB Westbrook, J. Lewis, K. Smith, F. Jackson

WR A. Johnson, M. Harrison, R. White, Ginn, Hester, Darling

TE H. Miller, F. Davis ®

K Gould, Longwell

DS Tampa Bay, NY Jets

Strength - Westy/Jamal, AJ & solid value in Marv

Weakness - TE - IMO HMiller is not a good PPR TE, more a TD heavy league TE

Will Win IF - Rivers breaks out and believe me I think Norv has him on the brink, H Miller needs to be more consistent, Jamal to resign in Cleve.

Overall - good job Fidds, I think you might have been better off grabbing Volek wtih your last pick, just in case there is an issue with Rivers knee. I think your WR after White/Ginn are kind Meh too. But this squad will survive

FRANK BLACK 1.-4

QB Hasselbeck, T. Edwards, Losman

I like my QBs especially with Holmgren coming back next season. I'm not sure Edwards is a lock to start all season. I opted to draft Losman in the last round instead of a scrub WR so I feel better about the #2QB.

RB Addai, E. James, Keith, M. Bush, Wright

#1RB looks good especially with Keith for insurance. Edge should be adequate. Bush is a wildcard and much about this core depends on him. Does anyone really expect Fargas to be healthy 2 years in a row? I wanted Jordan for insurance but couldn't afford him.

WR Holt, Chambers, Reggie Brown, James Jones, M. Jenkins, L. Moore

This group is not spectacular, but they are much better than the WR core that I took to the Championship this past season. I see Chambers close to being a top 12 WR next year. Brown has ?? but I think he'll be ok whether or not McNabb is there. James Jones will catch more of the TDs that Driver no longer catches. Jenkins and Moore will have the occasional big game. Does anyone really think Patten will be healthy 2 years in a row? The #2WR position in NO will be up for grabs.

TE Shockey, A. Smith

If Shockey returns to form, my team looks a lot better. I wanted Boss for insurance but had too many other needs. Smith doesn't excite much.

K Graham, Kasay

DS Denver, Cincinnati

The fate of this team may rest on M. Bush, Reggie Brown and Shockey as the make or break players.

AHRNCITYPAHNDER 1.-6

QB Garrard, T. Jackson

RB S. Jackson, L. White, K. Watson, M. Morris

WR Houshmandzadeh, H. Ward, Driver, Toomer, Wade, M. Jones, C. Wilson

TE Z. Miller, K. Boss

K Bryant

DS Pittsburgh , Indianapolis

Strength - Sjax, WR's

Weakness - QB & TE - I know garrard had a good season, but to me his upside is limited and Im not a believer. Those TE's are weak

Will Win If - Lendale over produces and gets some kind of TE production. Tarvarias Keeping his job is a must

Overall - Waited a little too long At QB1 IMO, nice solid WR core should keep you around the first half of the season

TWILIGHT 1.-7

QB P. Manning, Clemens

RB Gore, McAllister, R. Rice ®

WR Colston, S. Moss, S. Rice, L. Robinson, D. Jackson ®, Jacoby Jones, J. Hill

TE V. Davis, G. Olsen

K J. Brown, Vinatieri

DS Carolina, Oakland

Strength - Peyton/Gore/Colston

Weakness - pretty weak after Gore at RB, #1 TE & #1RB on the same bye

Will Win IF - V.Davis fianlly lives up to his potential, andDeuce is full recoverd and brought back to NO

Overall - Twi, feel like you reached on Smoss and Rice and I thought there was better value on the board at the times of those picks. After colston this WR core IMO isnt very good. That beign said it looks like a pretty good dynasty group of WR

RB R. Bush, R. Johnson, Benson, K. Faulk, A. Green

WR S. Smith, Boldin, Reggie Williams, Porter,Engram

TE Heap, Scaife

K Akers, Stover

DS Tennessee, New Orleans

Strength - Reggie in PPR, Rudi/benson & the rest provide nice depth, great WR top 2

Weakness - 2 great wr then it looks like you just drafted RB's the rest of the way

Win Will IF - Bulger stays healthy - get production out of WR 3/4/5 and Heap bounces back. Delhomme stay healthy

Overall - I think getting Benson where you did was great value. I personally love Bulger as a value play in H2H leagues this season. Heap is tricky and a risk.

WR Marshall, Welker, Galloway, Branch, Gaffney, A. Davis

TE Winslow. Des Clark

K Crosby

DS Kansas City, Atlanta

Strength - TE,WR top 2, MB3

Weakness - RB2

Win Will If - Favre doesnt retire, Winslow stays healthy, Selvin Young grabs the starting gig

Overall - Perry very nice job best looking sqaud I've seen so far. Early odds on favorite. I almost took Welker over ROyWIll and kinda wish I did

QB Cutler, J. Campbell

RB L. Johnson, M. Turner, K. Jones, A. Peterson

WR Burress, Calvin Johnson, Curry, Gage, Northcutt. Muhammed

TE D. Lee, D. Martin

K K. Brown, Suisham

DS New England, NY Giants

Strength - LJ,Burress, Cutler

Weakness- TE/ CJ too early

Will Win IF - CJ lives up to the hype, Turner lands in a great spot and Kjones is healthy. D.Lee continues to improve

Overall - I expect LJ to come back with a vengeance and was great value where you got him. CJ went a bit early for my liking, D.lee showed flashes at TE

DUCKBOY 1.-8

WR S. Smith, Boldin, Reggie Williams, Porter

Weakness - 2 great wr then it looks like you just drafted RB's the rest of the way

Overall - I think getting Benson where you did was great value. I personally love Bulger as a value play in H2H leagues this season. Heap is tricky and a risk.
That's because, since you are going off PVH's list, Bobby Engram should be included as well (added Troy Will to but he's a long shot). I'd agree my fate is likely tied to Heap and Rudi/Benson. They perform and this squad could go a long way; could also be out first week if injuries/benchings occur.

RZRBACK77 1.-11

QB McNabb, J. Russell

RB Portis, Maroney, S. Morris, Davenport

WR Cotchery, Coles, A. Gonzalez, Stallworth, Burleson, S. Smith (NYG). Booker

TE T. Gonzalez

K Reed, Feeley

DS Green Bay, Miami

Strength - Top 2 RB, Deep WR core, Tgonzo

Weakness - McNabb is oft injured, carries a risk, your backup meh

Will Win IF - Healthy McNabb, and Maroney gets carries early on

Overall - Solid squad, Likes Perrys alittle better but you and PAE are in the top 2-3 range right now. Your WR depth is very nice even though you have two jets and two fish. need a seperate bye week there. Love the Samm Morris handcuff and could be the pick that wins it for you

BASSnBREW 1.-12

QB Palmer

RB Grant, W. Parker, Norwood, T. Henry

WR J. Walker, Mark Clayton, C. Henry, D. Bennett, C. Jackson, Meacham, Jarrett

TE Daniels, Crumpler

K Kaeding, Scobee

DS Chicago, Dallas

Strength - Palmer,RB depth, TE platoon

Weakness - You got alot of WR, but no studs to build a foundation. Do have some upside guys

Will Win If - Palmer stays healthy and you get a couple outstanding WR performances.

Overall - This team is a contender due to the shear number of solid RBs. Will need to catch a break or two at WR to win it

RAVNZFAN 1.-13

QB D. Anderson, Leinart

RB M. Jones-Drew, Bradshaw, L. Washington, Dayne, Duckett

WR Wayne, K. Curtis, D. Mason. Hilliard, N. Washington

TE Cooley, J. King

K Bironas, Janikowski

DS Minnesota, Seattle

Strength -TE,MJD.Wyane

Weakness - messy RB2, not liking WR after Wayne

WIll Win If - MJD takes over most ofthe carries from fred, Mason has a re-peat performance and Anderson maintains

Overall - Not the best looking squad IMO, Everyone of your backs shares touches. Mason overachieved last year, the great unkown is the Balt QB situation. Anderson should be fine.

Pretty much how I see this team. I do think my strength at K and D will buy me points relative to most of the field. Thanks for doing the writeups.

LHUCKS 1.-14

QB Roethlisberger, Garcia

RB R. Brown, S. Alexander, Mendenhall, C. Williams, Irons

WR R. Moss, S. Holmes, D. Bowe, K. Walter, M. Kelley ®

TE E. Johnson, Pope

K Gostkowski. Elam

DS Jacksonville, Arizona

Strength - BigBen, top 3 WR

Weakness - TE and ???? at RB

WIll Win If - Brown and Caddy are healthy. EJohnson stays in NO or Pope blows up

Overall - usually I like your teams, but this one is not your best effort IMO, even if RBrown is ready for week1, Caddy wont be and Alexander is washed up. You'll be lucky to get any production out of your TE. Big Ben and your top 3 wides will have to carry you

QB Romo. Grossman. Orton

RB M. Lynch, Graham, T. Jones, J. Jones

WR T. Owens, Berrian, S. McDonald, Randle-El, Manningham®

TE Watson, C. Baker

K Dawson, Hanson

DS San Diego, St. Louis

Strength - Romo,TO, RB

Weakness - TE, WR after TO

Will Win If - McDonald continues his pace, & Berrian lands in a good spot. Watson produces

Overall - I like the Graham pick as noted during the draft, I expect him to be week1 starter, and quite frankly he earned that job. Berrian is a UFA if he stays in Chi, not the worst thing that can happen but he might move on. Watson looks a little weak at TE1 to me, he needs to be more consistent

BICYCLESEATSNIFFER 1.16

QB E. Manning, A. Smith, S. Hill

RB McGahee, F. Taylor, D. Foster, C.Henry, J. Charles®

WR Jennings, Roy Williams, D. Jackson, Bruce, Jurevicius, Kennison, Parrish

TE Gates

K Rackers, Wilkins

DS Baltimore, Philadelphia

Strength - gates, top 2 wide,

Weakness - solid vet team, not a ton of upside with late picks, QB after Eli

Will win If - Eli continues his progression, gates maintain his high level. Djax is #1WR in SF, Bruces situation is positive.

Overall - Really like my top 4 picks - McGahee-Gates-Roy-Jennings. I think I have enough in Freddy,Foster,Henry to get RB2 points in most weeks. DJax-Bruce-JoeJury provide decent enough depth after my top 2. I went out of my way to try and have 2 top D's and K's to make up for any lost points.

In general tend to draft stud TE and Vet WRs, this strategy has proven good for me.

Why wouldn't Brown be ready?
Caddy wont be and Alexander is washed up.
You're forgetting Mendenhall...who will likely go to a an above average team in the second half of round 1. Additionally Irons is going to win the starting job in Cincy. I'd put my RBs against most.

What do you think the difference in production was in '07 between Antonio Gates and my Two TEs??
well Pope got a grand total of 96 points in this format including scoring 6 zeros during the year.Ejohnson who is a UFA got 138, from week 11 on he got 10 points or more a total of once, lots of 5 point weeks from EjohnsonGates scored 295.

Torn Acl in October for Brown, certainly a risk at this pointMendenhall could have a job, but that siutation is unknown at this point. Plus he's a big 10 RB, so he's slow

Irons is not winning that job coming out of camp and you know it.
