Sober February

Recommended Posts

Every February after Superbowl, I attempt to not drink the delicious brownest of all brown liquors JD and any other alcohol.

I generally make it until the end of week 3.

This is a documentation of my ascension into madness.

Did this for most of January. Not too difficult if you're not a sot.

How ya feeling Bob? Getting any better?

Still hacking a little but I feel a ton better. The doc gave me some super antibiotics and some sort of steroids.

How the hell did you watch football all month without drinking!?

Thinking about giving up booze/beer in general.

What did you do?
Nothing. Just at a point in my life where I rarely drink(usually on vacation in the summer). Buddies from college drink all the time but I rarely see them. Usually hang out with parents in my neighborhood or friends parents of my daughters. Hardly any drinkers among them. Went to a SB party on Sunday and just drank diet coke. It really didn't bother me. Oh. I'm thinking about giving up quilting then.

;)

Did you hit any of those superbowl squares?

January 6th for me.
I'm amazed too & I can't believe you are going all year. I think until March sometime is plenty to prove your sobriety.True drunks can't even make it a month.

If you already don't drink much at all, why would giving it up have any value to you?I don't get it. What benefit would come from giving it up the few other times you consume it? And would it really even be hard to do?

Get sponsored for charity...

Although it's in Aus. Saw the ad, thought about it, realised I've got waaaaaaaaay too much on in Feb (it's still summer here too), decided that while my liver could use the break, my social life had no such need.

You are correct. I'm not really giving up much because it doesn't have any value to me. I guess I'm just getting old.

I have not had a drink since the Superbowl either. However, estimates put me at 8 beers, 5 jaeger bombs and about 12 Jack & Cokes (casino size) on that occasion.

I will probably have a beer or two tomorrow night.

I stopped drinking for good as a New Years resolution. Hasn't been that hard except for times that are deeply associated with booze... Like watching the playoffs yesterday and eating hot wings. Trick will be to get through a few of those and unimprint the association.

I haven't had a drop since NYE primarily bc newbaby and old baby have pummeled us so bad I couldn't handle the wake ups with even a beer or two.

This is easily the longest I've been without a drink in over 15 years.

My wife definitely likes me more when I'm drankin but I am now in a weird place where I don't know when I'll decide to. I am a binge drinker so no amount really ever satisfied so with Dad responsibilities I am better off without the delicious sauce these days.

If I wasn't still a little hungover from Sunday, not sure how I'd be doing this.:willpower:
