Good luck! As I am sure I said in this thread previously, ask for Fentanyl for the procedure, you won't be sorry.

I'd strongly recommend getting knocked out - why be awake for this?I got tested the other day - happy to report no more fish left in my pond. No more kids or birth control for me.Not to scare anyone but the fellas looked like 2 ripe plums with staples (stitches) in them for 3-4 days after the procedure.Good Luck

I've had 3 wisdom teeth removed and 5 fillings and never been knocked out for any of it. Should be ok.

I think I took a grand total of 6 ibuprofin the entire time. No valium before either. You guys need to sack up so to speak. Root Canal is much worse start to finish.

Yup. I didn't even get the Vicodin for mine, but it also sounds like mine went easier than normal--minimal swelling/discomfort throughout despite minimal ice or Ibuprofins. Gooed Luck!

who the #### makes their wife tie off outside of doing it during a c-section anymore?

Even that is serious. It's a whole different group of doctors that are required.
Think some of you are confusing getting your tubes tied with a hysterectomy.
Incorrect. I was there when my wife asked about getting her tubes tied.
Whole lot of clueless here.If another ob/gyn had to come in and tie the tubes for your wife, I would never let the original ob/gyn deliver another baby in your family/circle of friends again. Edited by Balance

When I had the wisdom teeth done that definitely required vicodin. As soon as the novacain wore off it was like "woah... ok this ####### hurts"One of my teeth was growing in the wrong direction and was not obvious to the dentist - he spend about 20mins on just that one and he practically had his knee on my chest trying to pry it out the wrong way. He actually got winded. Edited by 17seconds

Sorry--maybe I was confused. I meant for the vas job--not the teeth pulling!

the deed is done

got the frozen peas on the package now and the local will be wearing off soon

a valium and a vicodin an hour before they start was a really good idea

basically it's like getting a filling at the dentist. discomfort with the shot and for a min after on each side but after that no big deal.

it does feel like someone kicked me in the nuts right now though.

just lying in bed watching poker training videos all day while my wife waits on me. we don't have a TV in our bedroom and I need to stay away from the kids so all I have is my laptop.

this is like a vacation. feel terrible for my wife though - she's constantly battling with our 3yo downstairs.

24hrs later and I don't really need meds. may take 1 vicodin for fun or switch to motrin.

My #1 tip - make sure you have a jock strap.

I didn't think this would make a difference from tight underwear but it does. They make the incisions very high, so without support the weight of your junk causes pain. 4 days later and I'm still wearing one. Will probably keep it on for a week.

:( I'm going in on Monday.

It's Tuesday, are you OK?
Yeah, outside of a low dull ache in the nether regions, I'm fine. The procedure wasn't painful per say, but they're was some strange pressure. It was one of the more uncomfortable things I've ever been through that wasn't painful. Keeping the mind from wandering to visuals of what was going on down there at the time was a real challenge. Luckily I had some tunes to keep me distracted, starting with 'comfortably numb'.I think I'll be over the vicodin today, and hopefully the boys won't swell up to the size of plums.

Sounds like it went the same way as mine. The Dr. had some new age reggae going at full volume. Didn't have any thoughts on what they were doing, just meditated and kept breathing in case a giant shock of pain came. I few tense moments, but not terrible. Like I said, a lot like the dentist.

So has anyone got clipped and still got someone pregnant and/or know a good friend who has?

The only way you ever hear about that happening is if the guy didn't bother to get cleared first, or else got after it too soon. I've never heard about it happening like 2+ years later or something. It's much, much, much more reliable than the tube tying thing as well.

Just had my vasectomy yesterday afternoon.

I was not terribly anxious or scared. Quite frankly, having read this thread helped ease my outlook on it. :) Was given a vallium to take one hour prior to the surgery. Honestly didn't do much for me - besides make me a little tired.

The procedure was uneventful. My biggest concern going in was the pain killer shots in the sack. Turned out to not be bad at all. The first side was nothing. Other side was a bit of a sting, but tolerable. The rest of the procedure was just a bunch of tugging.

My wife sat in on the procedure, which was cool. The doctor was talking/joking with us the entire time which was comforting.

Last night was pretty uneventful. A little pain - a dull version of the getting kicked in the nuts feeling. You know that low in the gut feeling. Bags of frozen peas and the painkillers that were prescribed took care of anything bad.

This morning... a little bruising. No swelling to speak of. Same dull pain but not nearly as bad as I expected. I'll play it up all day so I can relax... but so far, not bad at all.

One thing that is bothering me... was given a "post operation instruction" sheet. It says no sex until your followup appoiintment - 4 weeks :lmao: Not a chance in hell I can wait that long...

Got mine done at the end of Nov. A check last week and the doctor said I still have some live swimmers. Between making the juice with the wife and sometimes taking matters into my own hands I would have thought the pipes would have been cleaned out a long time ago. Nope, nurse calls and says to the doctor advises we still practice birth control until a clean sample. WTF!? Anyone else still test positive after 4 months?

Seems like a long time from what I remember. I think I got the green light by about 3 months. They wanted me to wait for 2 "all clear" results, but I settled for one that had ONE live swimmer, and one that was all clear.Tell the Mrs. you need to go on a very active schedule until this matter is resolved.

I had it done in November. One thing that I would recommend (although too late if you are going in the AM) is that you be put out for it. I opted for being awake with a local and I actually almost passed out from the pain. The feeling of a doctor pulling your vas defrens is inexplicable. No pain meds could prepare you for the feeling as the nerve endings are not where they numb you.

It took a good 72 hours before I could walk without a limp and a week to feel good . Also, the appearance of a third ball is apparently normal (although it scared the #### out of me) and easily treated with an anti-inflammatory pill. Prepare for alot of swelling and black and blue. It looked like a plumb dangling between my legs.

Good luck! Ice it down and report back after

WHY?

My urologist has canceled on me 3 times. Was originally supposed to be done in February. This guy sure golfs/vacations a lot. Currently re-re-re-rescheduled for July 18th.

He lLOVES to golf. I think he belongs to Tam O Shanter.
Been to a few Bar/Bat Mitzvahs there. Pretty close to where I grew up.

Oh yes. We had good friends that had two sets of twins. The husband got clipped, got the first 'all clear'. His wife was pregnant shortly after. Appeared that not all of the swimmers were gone after all.Crazy story.

The wife and I discussed this, but if we go the "we're not going to have kids" route, we're going to opt for "Essure" instead. :lmao:

This was almost my exact experience as well - had a single entry wound, but first side was nothing, second side was not a sting but some discomfort. Took the same Valium, did one pain killer right after - just to be sure - but I was not sore after the procedure or at anytime for the weekend. Still pretty bruised a week later, but no swelling to speak of. I had to play it up all weekend, so I could get a full day of NFL games on Sunday.

I take vicoden while drinking a ton a couple times a year. As long as you don't do it all the time the acetemetophin isn't an issue.I take 5-6 pills and have completely blacked out a time or two if i do tons of shots, but if you're stickimg with just beer a couple vics will just make you feel drunker.I recommend it. Also save a couple pills for the next day to kill any hangover.

Anyone keep any boys on ice in case of emergencies?

I dont think my 3 boys would fit in the freezer, so no. The oldest is only six, but unless I took the shelves out, prolly not

None of you guys have discussed cost here. I was pretty shocked by how much the urologist wants for one of these. Total after everything - consultation, procedure, surgical pack, follow-up swimmer counts -- is over $2,200. I hope my insurance would cover most of it. Either that, or I guess I'll have to consider "the county clinic" instead of a surgeon.

Most insurance plans will cover it...but probably not to "un-do" it if you change your mind later.

I believe mine covers 80 percent, but that still means I'm shacking out like $450.

Same here. LOL at 2k for a vasectomy. I'd do it myself for 2k.
