Shadowfax has Bush at 1.13 in PPR and that avatar, pretty lucky I think.

Brady, 17th overall...where should he go this year?

I was all set to go another route this league...either QB/WR or WR/WR but couldn't pass on Bush in a PPR league at 13. Now, if I can just track down my avatar.... :tfp:

We're kicking back ino gear in day three. Really concerned about starting RB-RB, but not so much after grabbing T Holt for my WR #1 at 3.7.

Holt was a nice pick and I was set to pair him up with Fitz until you snagged him 1 pick before my pick. Instead I agonized between Welker and a couple of other WRs until I concluded that Welker was the safer pick, although I don't expect last year's numbers.

well i am loving the start to my team Manning MJDRoy Williamspretty good start for me :lmao:
Not to rain on anyone's parade...but I'm sure most like the start of their team after 3 rounds or so. The next couple rounds will really start to define the teams.
:lmao: Except that I'm not overly excited about my start because I know that Welker will not have the same #s as last year. Yet, in a PPR league he's a steady producer. Some weeks he will put up #1 numbers.

Grant, TO, TJones is not inspiring me relative to some of the better first three.

Teams updated.

I don't know about anyone else, but deciding what position to address is making me crazy.
:bag: Sixteen team drafts are very tough. Its almost always a difficult choice from round to round what need is most urgent. But its fun!
I haven't found being in the middle as bad but near the ends it definitely is a struggle deciding which direction to go, as you can get royally screwed watching a run on a position and you have 25+ picks until your next turn. I've been doing these for 5-6 years and I still seem to guess wrong a lot of times. But it does make it fun and challenging.

I think a healthy Heap is a bargain. He had played 16 games in two or three years in a row before last year's debacle. What do y'all think of Todd HEap for 09?

If I would have known I could get Heap at 5.04, I might not have taken Witten (who I have as the #1 TE) at 3.04 - that's how much I like him for this year. We know now that the hammy was torn, he wasn't being a wuss, and as you say, his record of playing all 16 games in a season is much better than people think. Heap is perceived as an injury risk, because he seems to always be on the injury report, and he's had a lot of surgeries in the offseason, but he plays through the pain. The only real worry I have about him is the possibility that the passing O goes in the crapper because we are either watching Troy Smith get schooled, Kyle Boller play his mediocre brand of football, or Steve McNair start to put the other foot in the football grave.

I was hoping to get Witten in the 3rd, but like Heap in the fifth almost as well. I am of the thought that an ineffective or struggling QB is not a bad thing for a really good TE as he can get him the ball easier than the WRs. Anyway, hope he's healthy and thanks for the comments.

Nice work on running through a bunch of picks last night/this morning :deadhorse:
I meant to comment on that quick turn by the top of the draft, but got slowed down by all the copying for the new thread. I do agree that y'all did great work on that.

I have to say I like Yudkin's team a lot. He, imo, was able to grab Chad Johnson and Cotchery as last receivers of their respective tiers. I am not terribly happy with my team. One of those drafts where you feel like you are chasing value with each pick. Here is to hoping for a huge year by LT and Romo to cover up mediocre years by some of the rest.

I do like his start, but its a long way back to him and his only RB is one who shared opportunities last year. Granted he made trememdous results out of his chances, but if he continues to share? We are already at RB30 and its still 20 some odd picks till it returns to the top.We only have four owners that have one RB at this point. Thoughts? Concerns or not?

I don't disagree, but the name of the game is scoring the most points (especially in a league like this). There are still a few players I would not mind having, and bear in mind that after the first couple of tiers of running backs the scoring differential of the next big crop of players is not all that great. So basically the difference in Top 10 scoring is probably greater than the bandwidth for the next 30+ running backs. Factor in the PPR scoring system and other positions seemed more likely to benefit my team than a so-so RB.Also bear in mind the history that a large percentage of Day 1 starters lose their jobs or get hurt as the season progresses. Add in the fact that there will be rookies added to the mix, so guys projected as starters could suddenly become backups and some of the available RB options were not that appealing.I generally am strongest in taking proven players that fall to me early and then hitting on some folks that do way better than expected in the middle rounds. Last year, for example, people said I drafted too many RBs and had terrible WRs because of it. But I ended up hitting on Mason (ranked 14th), Crayton (35th) , and Walter (31st) to go with Colston.Obviously we need to wait until the draft plays out to see how the treams stack up (and how things look in September or December will be way different than in April).

All good unless your lone RB is one of those that get hurt, since he's definitely not in the possible lose your job category. Well put response and I hope that I can get some of those lower selected WRs that come up large.

Are these drafts dead on weekends or do I need to stay tuned? Is there a clock? I thought I read something about a clock.

Favorite teams:

Yudkin

ravnzfan

restless natives

Teams I think have a lot of potential depending on later picks:

Thom Yorke

Bloom

prymetyme25

Teams I just don't get:

Aposulli

Coin Flip

Manning

MJD, C. Taylor, D. McCallister

R. Williams, D. Mason, J Porter

C. Cooley

Deuce was to big of value to still be sitting there in the 8th. 3 #1 recievers on my team. A top 5 TE and one of the bestQBs in the game. Don't think I could be any happier with my team at this point. :bag: I haven't had to go  with any of my picks yet.

Looks like the teams to beat thru 7picks are:

Ruds

Rzr

Restless

Teams I think have a lot of potential depending on later picks:

Thom Yorke

Bloom

Teams I just don't get:

Aposulli

Coin Flip
Thanks. I think I should just be honest and say that I have no idea where my team is going. I think that is because this is the first time I have been in the middle of a survivor league draft here; inevitably, I wind up at the very top or bottom. Once I took Moss in the first round, I knew I was in for a wild ride.

What is PDSL?
Pre Draft Survivor League, one of many FBG Mock Draft Forum leagues. Earliest is WSL (Winter Survivor), then PDSL, then SSL (Spring Survivor) right after the NFL Draft and it seems like one more. White Elephant is too much for me, where player steals and repicks are allowed.

 I've had plenty of drafts in your shoes. Looks like I need to revisit what I did wrong in the 5th round though.

My team is a little unusual for me at this point. I have usually added RB depth by this time and have never taken two TEs as early as I did before. I think that resulted from my waiting on QB which is common and realizing that I did not like as many this off-season. So, with an elderly Kitna that might lose his job mid-season with a new coaching regime, I went with a guy that I see as playing all year. Russell's results may not be top line, but I think that he will play. He is strong and I am hoping no injury. SO the two compliment each other, an older vet who will start the year, but might not finish and a young gun that should improve as the year goes on.

Similarly, even though I have high hopes for Heap, he has a couple years pretty much lost to injury. I thought he was value where I got him at 5.7, but also with the Ravens QB issues, felt obliged to back him up with a solid option and there were few left in the ninth.

The entire group has restrained from the defense and kicker selections with only one defense gone as we are in the middle of the tenth. That will change soon and we'll have a massive run.

A quick review of the teams looks like a lot of equality out there. So, other than the speed, its been a solid draft thus far.

In the twelth and now we are into the DST mode. I hadn't noticed, but Shadow brought it to my attention that Coin Flip has six RBs through the twelfth round. That is rather unusual.

Still slow going. Really hoping that we can finish bu next Friday, although not looking likely.

If this was my crew, I would try to schedule a meeting. I hate afternoon meetings. I say we get together first thing Tuesday morning and discuss this business (while we roll through a round or two). We should have a Friday morning meeting too. I always like Friday meetings. I'll bring coffee, the good stuff from Kona. Someone else get the danish.

That would be great, but it takes all 16 to function. I'm all for progress though as I am leaving a week from today for a 3-day business trip followed by three days of vacation.

My decision related to the skipping of Aposulli and the continuation of the draft. We will not proceed beyond him a second time. When he comes up next time, IF HE HASN'T PICKED BETWEEN NOW AND THEN, someone (possibly me) will make selections for him and either someone will be selected to fill in or we will make picks for him by committee, with volunteers making his picks each round.

I just feel like the loss to his team will be minimal this late in the draft and the rest of us who are fulfulling our committment have been delayed enough.

Please post in the team discussion thread if you would be willing to make a couple of selections for Aposulli's team and I will decide the order of who will pick.
Sure, I'll make some picks. Heh, heh...teamramrod, maybe? I think he was too late to the party and isn't in a PDSL, but was last in the sign up thread.

Update on plans for Aposulli's picks. I sent an invitation to teamramrod to take over. If he wants to he will jump in anytime and make two picks and by so doing will take over. If nobody jumps in and make picks for him, when we return to Aposulli's spot PLEASE PM ravnzfan who will make the four picks (11,12, 13, and 14th rounds) then due. One of which must be a TE.

When that slot comes up again at 15th and 16th, I will make the selections.

Jeff T will make the ones for 17 and 18 and I will continue to seek volunteers for the remaining picks, if teamramrod does not take over.

Thanks for the input and let's pick up the pace.
