Looking into a business trip to one of our stores where I travel through Memphis for this. 20% chance.if anyone wants to pull a last minute drop in this year, the door is open.
It would be great if you could make it. This year is going to be the by far the best one yet. The kitchen is as organized as it has ever been and the party is always second to none!Looking into a business trip to one of our stores where I travel through Memphis for this. 20% chance.
I also sent the logo to my BIL and we talked. He agreed with your assessment that it's not too conducive for a relief laser cut, although it could be modified somewhat to possibly make it work. He doesn't do the computer layout part but he's going to show it to the guy who does to see how much work it would take. Not getting my hopes up but it doesn't hurt to try.
We will definitely do some live streaming on Facebook of both the food side of things and the party side of things. There better be some ####### night time party streaming. I really DGAF about the meat preparation.
less food, more hot wimmenz. We will definitely do some live streaming on Facebook of both the food side of things and the party side of things.
FACEBOOK - I do the majority of the posting to our Facebook page and will be broadcasting live a good bit. I'll be capturing a mix of party and food.
TWITTER - I will be posting a good bit here as well.
INSTAGRAM - Tommy will have control of Instagram during the festival... he's a maniac and will likely be streaming/photographing lots of ladies.
I was just coming in here to ask this. Doesn't it rain pretty much every single year? I guess my memory was correct on that one. And isn't it usually like horrendous thunderstorms? Now way this weather holds..we've never had a fully dry BBQfest week in the 13ish years I've been doing this...
#reversegunz
Part of the annual battle of this festival is trying to fend off at LEAST one day/night of terrible weather.... every year.
Bruh, we got up your Insta game.We will definitely do some live streaming on Facebook of both the food side of things and the party side of things.

Yes... we've had some downright monsoons with significant straight line winds. We've gotten pretty good at rigging tarp systems custom measured to our scaffold to enclose the booth so the party can go on... but a festival without at least ONE day being severely cut back by a major storm is rare, indeed.I was just coming in here to ask this. Hasn't really been a priority for us, but we will likely begin ramping that up.Bruh, we got up your Insta game.
I wasn't a believer in IG at all. Thought it was stupid. It's the hottest social media platform there is. Load up on pics this weekend and then feed them into IG a few a day until you run out. Next year, feed them all back into the feed in the weeks leading up to the event, then load up on more pics and feed them in for the next few weeks. The next year before the event, repost all the top performing pics leading up to MiM. Then load up on pics and keep doing that.Hasn't really been a priority for us, but we will likely begin ramping that up.
WHA?!Got an email from Maggie yesterday raving about how much fun she's had the last couple years and wants to come back this year with 3 GFs. Of course. She then says she's upset we've never met up in the booth and told me to look for her friday so we can grab a drink and finally meet face to face.
She sent these pics.

Wedding (Right)
I'll be in touch. I generally snap 50-75 photos a day down at the river and have albums of hundreds of photos from the last several years.I wasn't a believer in IG at all. Thought it was stupid. The money to be made on Instagram is absolutely sick. Like my wife quit her job to be with the kids because of what I make on Instagram sick. As in, I very well leave my job by the end of the year sick.
BBQfest is a strange place. A good buddy on the team isn't one to pull much strange, but 2 years ago I walk back into the kitchen and this smoking hot 6' Brunette in a mini dress has him pinned to the prep table getting about as down as you can while fully clothed.WHA?!
Create a folder on a cloud drive you have access to from your phone. Go through ALL the pics you have from every year you've done this from every camera used to take pics. Load the top ones into that folder and start pumping them into IG right now. Do 10 a day. Do them all at once if you like. Oh, and hashtag the crap out of each pic. Oh, and I'm your 17th followerI'll be in touch. I generally snap 50-75 photos a day down at the river and have albums of hundreds of photos from the last several years.
Oh, the girlfriend thing. Now I get theBBQfest is a strange place. Another female friend once texted me joking about her girlfriend taking a guy from my team home to their hotel room. She sends a pic of them still in bed. Dude isn't on our team... just ran game and it worked
I think it's the bartender/backstage effect... they're at a ridiculous party and the guys running the show get on some mental pedestal in some chicks' minds I guess. Who knows...some wimmen are nuts.
I have an amazing, gorgous GF so I will prob say hey to Maggie, then sic her on @sbonomo
I don't even have the keys to our Instagram account. Nobody knows who does so I gotta figure that out. I'll get that sorted this weekend.Create a folder on a cloud drive you have access to from your phone. Try to log in from a computer and say you lost the password. It will email to the email address associated with the account. Then tell all involved to look out for the email and change the password to whatever and then you start posting.I don't even have the keys to our Instagram account. All my images are on iCloud and I have a 1TB Dropbox account so that much is easy. Thx
Right on! Standing invite has been there for years, buddy. Next year lets make it happen.Oh, and next year, get me down there with my DSL and phone, I shoot all weekend, live posting pics on the spot, as well as doing Instagram Live and then I go home, edit the hundreds and hundreds of pictures I take and load them to your drive and you're set for years to come.
First off, download IFTTT app and search for the IFTTT recipe "Instagram to Twitter." Then link the two accounts. This will push the picture to Twitter from Instagram every time you post rather than just the link.Right on! Standing invite has been there for years, buddy. Next year lets make it happen.
Got the account sorted out. I'll populate it with some #### now and cross promote from Twitter/FB pages a bit.
Our FB presence is a page not a set account. I have no option to post to anything other than my primary account timeline when in Instagram... I am game!!!!! Honestly, I could hook up every night at this event if I wanted too. Whether it is someone from the booth or in the walk home on Beale street it is a target rich environment.BBQfest is a strange place. I still want to see the video of the gals flashing the camera man last year in our promo videoCreate a folder on a cloud drive you have access to from your phone. This thing is a beast - I will post pictures of it fully loaded on Wed/Thur when we load her up for feeding the masses.
My point is it's only allowing me to link to my personal FB page. Oddly went I went back to it an hour later it gave me options to post to my pages I admin..... so thats a good deal. Thanks! If you are an admin on the page, you can post to the page from IG. I do that with just about everything I post from IG. It has grown my FB feed by 29,000 followers the last 12 months
$35,000 gets you the ability to slow smoke 84 Butts, or 72 Slabs of Ribs, or 96 Chickens in all its computer-controlled, convection-circulating, self-basting rotisserie spinning glory. This thing is a beast - I will post pictures of it fully loaded on Wed/Thur when we load her up for feeding the masses.
I'm considering adding another smoker, but this might be a bit out of my price range.$35,000 gets you the ability to slow smoke 84 Butts, or 72 Slabs of Ribs, or 96 Chickens in all its computer-controlled, convection-circulating, self-basting rotisserie spinning glory.
For the price of a good car, I would think there would be no or's in there!?$35,000 gets you the ability to slow smoke 84 Butts, or 72 Slabs of Ribs, or 96 Chickens in all its computer-controlled, convection-circulating, self-basting rotisserie spinning glory.
Yes, this, so much this. You need to focus on quality. That is vital to growing both on FB and IG.My point is it's only allowing me to link to my personal FB page. Oddly went I went back to it an hour later it gave me options to post to my pages I admin..... so thats a good deal. Thanks!
I'm going to have to work with the guys on posting guidelines as we have some dudes who will take 59 crappy pics or drunken wobbly videos and chase off our followers. With this linked and double posting I need to keep the reigns pretty tight to keep on message and quality of content/communications high.
LOL I hear ya. There's no way I'd buy one of these unless I owned a restaurant and even then I'd do the non-mobile version. For the price of a good car, I would think there would be no or's in there!?
Yep I take decent photos for on the fly iphone stuff. I've seen some videos/photos posted by others with no real subject, zero concern for visual balance or lighting, and no real purpose for sharing other than "YAY I'M HAVING FUN!". Folks following at home don't want to be shown the fun, they want to feel like they're being brought inside the event or to be shown something specific they can connect with.Yes, this, so much this. Well if you ever have a falling out with Southern Pride, let me know. I've got an in with Ole Hickory.LOL I hear ya. There's no way I'd buy one of these unless I owned a restaurant and even then I'd do the non-mobile version.
Thankfully Southern Pride provides the unit free, cleans it for us, etc. We don't have anywhere NEAR the kind of bankroll it takes to own one of these (nor would it make sense for 1-2 events a year.
I will say it's an awesome luxury for mass feedings though.
Lighting and perspective are the biggest keys. Shooting outside, stay away from direct sun light. Find some shade. Perspective, for food, make sure the shot is tight on the food. Most people are looking on mobile and only see a thumbnail of it. If the food is not front and center and people aren't sure what's going on, they won't look at the pic and thus no like and no follow. And you can't make up for a bad pic with a caption. A pic you have to explain is the same as a halloween costume or joke you have to explain. If you have to explain it, you did it wrong.Yep I take decent photos for on the fly iphone stuff. and... as you know very well.... If you're shooting food, you HAVE to make effort to make it look amazing/appetizing. Perspective, lighting, etc all play crucial roles. Simply snapping a pic of a steak on a grill isn't good enough. Of course it looks awesome to us... we are there... but folks online only have that picture to go by and if care isn't taken in composing/editing/optimizing the image... it's not going to connect with folks.
I'm going to have a sitdown with the 3-4 guys who will be posting stuff and try to relay some of this.
thanks again for the feedback/guidance @TheFanatic
Well.. the festival doesn't start till next week... soooooooWTF does the party stream start? More hot chicks and fewer photograph nerds please.
