The sound of one hand clapping? In SSL #4, there's three teams with three of the same bye weeks through the first five picks.....nine teams with dupes plus one more (Bloom) with a second duplicate week....that 12 out of 16 teams with bye week considerations.

That ought to generate some discussion somewhere.

Almost went with my third RB in the 5th. With 21 picks until my next selection, I didn't want to get lost at WR, so went that way instead. Had considered Owen Daniels in the 5th, but MasterShake slipped in and snagged him prior to my pick.

I'm okay with this start, not ecstatic. It's really going to be a challenge to find value and avoid bye issues the rest of the way. Thanks to all of you for making this draft one of the toughest mocks I've ever participated in.

thx for the thread BK but you have me down for lance moore instead of hines ward

Liking the start so far. Planned to have 3 WRs by now to help offset week 4 but I couldn't pass on the value Grant and Winslow provided.

I'm very happy with this team so far. If I were going to change anything, I might have gone with McNabb instead of Roy Williams, hoping to get Coles instead of Ward, and Ward or Beanie instead of Shockey. But I'm not even sure I'd like that team much better. Ward and Moreno are both guys who should be the primary ballcarrier on their team and are capable of being excellent three down backs. I clearly need another back to make the position stronger, but considering I went WR-WR, I'm thrilled with my RB strength. Smith has the potential to be the #1 WR in football, and has been consistently very good. Welker has 112 receptions in each of the last two seasons, and is as consistent week to week as they come. With Brady coming back, he has the potential to do even better. Roy Williams has the potential to be a WR1 for teams. He could also bust. But as a WR3 on my team, I feel like I have the best WRs in the league. And Shockey had 50 receptions in a year when he played with a sports hernia and missed four games. I like having some of the top targets for Tom Brady, Drew Brees and Tony Romo.

I like this team a lot too. Not a fan specifically of Jacobs or Grant, and you've got the week 4 bye issues, but it's early in the season, and if you get past that, you'll go far.

Love the WRs and Shockey has good upside in that offense. Really don't like the RBs. I would have gone with Kevin Smith instead of Moreno and I just can't help the feeling that Ward parlayed a good running attack in NY to a good payday for him. I'd draft him for value if I could but at 5.13 I don't like him. I think you'll really need to add some depth here.

QB - WarnerRB - C. Johnson, S. SlatonWR - A. Bryant, D. AveryTE - Greg Olsenmeh
Hopefully, Warner is great once again, as I'm deeply connected to him with Fitz and Boldin. Great PPR RBs. But those picks came at the expense of WR. You'll need Bryant to not be that one year wonder...hopefully him and Winslow can take some pressure off each other and have a QB that can get them the ball. Avery will be up and down. WR depth will be key for you. Olsen should be good and steady.

Romo (6)Forte (5), McFadden (9)Jennings (5), Mason (7)Dallas Clark (6)Would have taken either or both of the Saint RBs if not that they share a bye with my first two picks, Forte and Jennings.
I like it so far. Key right now is whether McFadden lives up to and exceeds his draft slot. Good job.

PalmerGoreBensonWayneHolmesCooleyNot great but not too shabby either.
I can't unwrap this team yet. What's the effect on Palmer with TJ leaving and 85 being 85? Great potential in middle 5th round though. Gore should rebound from a poor 2nd half last year. Can Benson continue his "good" play from last year? Wasn't thrilled with the Wayne pick with Andre and Calvin Johnson on the board but Wayne should still give you a good WR1. You're already in bye weekl hell with Gore and Wayne off Week 6 and the rest of your team off Week 8. Your hands might be tied the rest of the draft with some picks.

Don't love it. Don't hate it. Manning is a sure bet though I think he's fallen back into a group of QBs in the top tier and isn't worth a 2nd anymore. People are too down on LT this year and could be a great 1st value pick in redrafts. Jones scares me a bit, as I don't think he sniffs 15 TDs again. I think Brown could get a lot of play time. The past couple years it seems like 85 is good for a couple huge games each year with the rest just being average. Let's see if he really steps it up w/o TJ on the other side. Palmer may be forced to look his way a lot more. I like DeSean and would have taken him if he didn't share bye with Fitz/Boldin. But it'll be interesting to see if Philly does really run more and if McNabb continues to spread it around as usual.

Pretty happy, I basically got to 'anchor' each of my positions, although I'll need to make sure I don't draft any other week 9 bye WR's, but otherwise I dodged any major issues with that as well. Very happy with how the team came together.

Edit: OP updated. My team is awesome.

I agree with your comments except for Andre & Calvin, who are deemed to be "sexier" picks than Wayne. Given that Andre has never been a stud in back to back seasons and seems to be an every other season WR due to injury and other factors, and that Calvin will have a rookie or a washed up QB throwing to him, I see Wayne as the safest pick and having a downside of only slightly below Johnson and Calvin. I realize that many here disagree with me.

:mellow:I'd like to hear if I took any of MasterShake's picks when he timed out. I don't know if I'm getting better picks because of that 1-pick "bump" or not.ETA: While the Matt Ryan pick may not have been in my wheelhouse, there was a reason for it - his bye is Week 4, and McNabb and KWarner were gone. That meant my QB2 would have zero conflict with QB1 as long as I didn't pick Delhomme. I nearly picked Big Ben but thought he might slide, but if he didn't I would have nearly every QB to choose from at the next turn.Pierre Thomas, a good value, also had a nice and early bye.

Picks 2-5 were made under durress (and the influence) for me,I might have taken Owens over Marshall but that is it. while owens can have huge games, the image of him dropping SOOOO many balls that hit him in the hands over the past couple of years, to the point where even the owens pick was not a gimme. I would have still passed on Bowe, Thomas and Ryan.nice looking squad Jeff.

Thanks for the reply, MasterShake. Owens wasn't a lock for me, but I didn't like the QB situation for Braylon and I think Eddie Royal isn't quite at that tier. Hard to dislike TO's touchdown numbers, which is a big deal in Survivor.

We shall see, but I'm sure that >1 team will have 2 of their Top 9 picks on a bye in Week 9 with six teams off that week. Plus I still have half the draft to go.If Week 9 is the biggest hurdle this team has, I'll take that chance every year.

I wouldn't as much about it (the week 9 bye week), Jeff. Others will have major bye week issues, and if you hit it right, you can weather the storm. I have my own bye week issues over in SSL4 that are far worse. :coffee:

Pretty happy with this group. Missed out on a few players I really wanted at QB2, RB3 and D, but I feel like this is a well balanced team. The RBs and QBs are weak, the Ds are average, and the WRs are thin at the bottom. The TEs are strong, the WRs are very strong at the top, and I have some guys who can improve throughout the season. I could very easily get knocked out the first week if my WRs all start slow and Moreno doesn't get the nod from day one, but this team should get stronger throughout the year. Two picks on kickers and two picks on WR/RB left to round it out.

Some people are truely blessed / lucky. I attribute my success to clean living :goodposting:

I just realized that as I am headed into my round 14 selection, that I have been using a 2008 bye week grid!!! :goodposting:

ironically the bye week spacing actually works out better when i reslot my picks into the 2009 schedule.

I think I can do pretty well with this group. I got in at the beginning of the kicker run, so I just need to pick up another kicker, and I'm pretty set. Also need 1 more WR to cover the week 5 shortage. Other than that, I have no real bye week issues. But as always with only 18 spots, injuries will play a major role for all of us. 3 more rounds to go. :P

Other than that, I have no real bye week issues. But as always with only 18 spots, injuries will play a major role for all of us. 3 more rounds to go. :headbang:
oof...your WRs are slightly above horrible. You completely reached 1-2 rounds early for Moore and Walter and that will absolutely kill you. I'd like to hear your reasoning for choosing Moore over Housh, 85, Edwards, Royal, Cotchery, and maybe even Bryant or Roy Williams. (You could've hand one of those WR and possibly come back with Moore in the 4th.) And then you follow it up with Walter instead of Gonzalez, SMoss, Evans, Driver, DeSean, Coles, Avery, Berrian. I understand with going with guys you like but with so many options on the board, you screwed the pooch IMO. Moore posted most of his stats w/o Bush in the lineup. With Bush, Moore appeared to be an afterthought. Almost half of Walter's games were 5 points or less. While Breaston has potential, how often does a WR3 post back to back years like that? He's way over valued right now.
