Jeans for work are hard to find. On one hand, you don't want the real boring, ugly "farmer" blue jeans. On the other hand, you don't want them being too "cool" with crazy pockets, washings, holes, distressed areas, etc. It's still an office and you have too look semi-professional.
I hear that. That's why you have to look at jeans like you do dress slacks or whatever (i.e. spend a bit more money on them). I'm a big fan of APC, Rogan, and Paul Smith denim. About $150-200 but great denim without all the bs designs on the pockets and def not farmer jeans:example:

http://www.farfetch.com/shopping/men/item10033802.aspx
What is it with huge pockets the size of New Hampshire?
you can go with APC if you like smaller pockets. And make sure to buy straight leg. Boot cut is so 2002.http://www.tobi.com/product/22669-a-p-c-ne...?color_id=27257

501's are my go to. I'm not sure what loving these and Jack Purcells says about me.

J
That's a great pair of Levis there (selvage denim). Any idea how much those run? Probably north of $100edit: searched and $150-200 for this style of Levis
Did you see 150? I just saw toggles or whatever that is at 220. That's a lot for jeans.

Tell me more about these APCs. Look like a 501. I'm too old to do too fancy on jeans.

considered by many as the best denim for your dollar. Roughly $160 although price is rumored to being raised to $180-200. Some of them fit a little too skinny for my taste but the :style: I have are a nice straight leg and great comfort. They are from France so if you support bloody socialist scum and eat fries, then these might be for you.

Believe he's looking for the green soles though. The link I posted was in the UK, but look like they do US sizes and money for purchase (could be wrong though)

I really wait for these. Offdee whats up for us this fall season??
Some things you'll start seeing more of:- tailored double breasted blazers/suits

- three piece suits

- grey jeans

- jean jackets

- the solid dark blue jean (no rips, whiskering, no wash, minimal stitching on back pockets) (with straight leg fit, no boot cut)

- hi-top fashion sneakers (not b-ball shoes) and boots (with straight leg jeans)

- fitted henley shirts

- retro sunglasses

http://www.celebrity-sunglasses-finder.com...anye_west-7.jpg

- military (on steroids) almost marching band looking type jackets: http://media.onsugar.com/files/ons1/333/33...ca15e_dolce.jpg
:memorylane: How many of these did we get correct?

 my bad, I thought you said green trim. This is what happens when you're multitasking a boring conference call with FFA. I'm really feeling these Red trimmed Smiths on Zappos. Never seen those before.

Picked up a new pair of APC raw selvage jeans this weekend.....my first pair of raw denim type of jeans.

http://images.andale.com/f2/110/104/635251...81_P1010029.JPG

Anyways, the guy that owns this boutique type clothing place was really passionate about denim so we sat and talked for a good 30 minutes and he gave me all kinds of great insight into the break in process to these types of jeans, how to order a size smaller than what you normally wear because they will stretch out, and was adament to hold off on washing these things until as long as possible as that will give them the most "character" down the line.

I asked about the times that I'd wear these out to places with cigarette smoke and would have to wash them and he gave me this little genius tidbit for all clothing...

wrap it up in a brown paper bag and put it in your freezer overnight. This will kill the bacteria that makes them smell and be fresh as new.
Quote of post #1203 (pg 25) for Joe regarding APC jeans. The responses after post #1203 go into some more thoughts about APC jeans and raw/selvege denim.

These are a great pair of jeans....took a few wears where they weren't the most comfortable, but now fit like a glove.

Wait black Jeans are back in :style:? I'm convinced I could wear everything I had from college and be a :hipster:
black and grey denim have been in style for the past few years. I'm actually in the market for a great fitting pair of black denim but have yet to find something I'm 100% happy with. Next colors you'll be seeing is bright colors of jeans (orange, green, etc). Not my :style: but seeing more and more of it:Levis Color
So basically any jean colors the black guys in my high school wore in the late 80's and 90's. Perfect

I need a pair of dark, casual shoes. Not sure if I should go with a canvas (like Jack Purcell) or something like this.
For an extra $30 I prefer these...http://igbs.com/v2/shop/view_product.php?pid=1740
For an extra $600 I prefer these:http://www.barneys.com/Astronaut%20Sneaker...default,pd.html
$705.00 to look like a total #####? Seems worth it.
You could cover the high top portion with a pair of these jeans :class:Brioni jeans

The more you look like an astronaut, the better chance of reaching the stars. Think about it.

Here's a fashion tip: go to the top of a skyscraper with a wad of $100 bills and let them fly. It looks sweet.

With either of those... what kind of socks? Assuming jeans.
If wear with shorts go barefoot or very short ankle socks (below the ankle bone) so they are barely showing. Black shoes are kind of tough with shorts though, so your best bet is to wear with jeans (with short, below the ankle bone socks).

Why pay that much more for Vans? http://www.zappos.com/vans-era-black-pewter

My favorite thing about Vans other than comfort and :style: is designing your own shoe. Lots of fun:http://shop.vans.com/webapp/wcs/stores/ser..._-1#/selectShoe

I ended up going with these instead. I figured being a little lighter color made them a little more flexible. Probably ok with shorts.

Can't go wrong with some classic Chucks. I personally prefer the grey color the best for these as well.Only thing I caution with these is to be aware that they have absolutely no padding or arch support...like walking on a piece of cardboard basically. Get some sort of cushion insole thing if you'll be wearing them regularly.

Stu, not a huge deal, but if plan to wear these with shorts more than pants I prefer the slip on versions.http://www.zappos.com/converse-by-john-var...slip-pewter-mil

Classic. Can't go wrong. Definitely go with the laces. Adding $50 just so you can look like you forgot the laces is :goodposting: J

Agree it's not worth $50, but if can find them on sale or similar to regular Chuck's I prefer them. The regular Chucks with the laces tend to make your feet look like skis due to how skinny and slim they are. Also the vibe of the no laces just lends itself more to a casual look which matches nicely with shorts.I'm not 100% certain about this, but from the pics, the John Varvatos vintage no laces looks like it may have more foot padding as well which is a plus. But, again, this is just from pics so that may not be the case.

Yes, just not a fan of useless stuff like eyelets with no laces. To me it's the same thing as suspenders drooped down not doing anything. (And yeah, a necktie is sort of in that group but that's another story...)And I guess too part of it for me is messing with a classic like Chucks. If it were a new shoe that way, I'd be better with it.J

Maybe I don't like cushioning. :goodposting:

I think my new Chuck's are much more comfortable than my "running" shoes. I also think flip-flops are very comfortable, even if I'm going to be walking around all day.
