I watched Centurian the other day. I was entertained.

Watched the first 3/4 and thought this movie was really underrated. Then I saw the last 1/4, and realized it had been appropriately rated.

If you haven't watched anything from Jean-Pierre Jeunet, you are really missing out on a great filmmaker.DelicatessenAmelieMicmacsA Long Engagement These are all worth at least one viewing.

We watched Micmacs last night which was the only one I hadn't seen. Jeunet has a unique visual style and Micmacs didn't disappoint in that regard. But I think his set pieces sometimes tend to get in the way of his storytelling. Micmacs was hampered from the start by a simplistic plot and characters, so it ended up as little more than a visual exercise. It was entertaining in its own over the way but I'd start with any of the other three Jeunet films mentioned above.

Bill Burr: Let It Go is now on streaming. :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

I saw the live taping of this. So phenomenal. A must for any comedy fan, I think his appeal's pretty broad.
I wasn't expecting much, but this guy was funny.
I watched this entirely on your recommendations. Loved it. This thread is the best. Also I noticed that Sons of Anarchy Seasons 1 & 2 are now available.

You're looking at it backwards. What we need is for more sports to be available through the internet and Roku, ESPN3, etc. Then we can finally just dump outdated cable TV.

casual anime watcher here but fullmetal alchemist:brotherhood might have been the best series I've ever seen. I just got through with seasons 1 and 2 (on streaming) and am tempted to get the 3rd.

will check that out. one of the best things about the show is, no filler episodes. this 34.99 for season 3 on amazon is tempting.. damn you netflix and your unfinished tv show streams.

Yup, that's right. They also seem to have reformatted all of the TV shows so that every episode comes up under the same file selection instead of having different files for each season. Nice little upgrade in my opinion.

Not sure if I like this feature or not. I like being able to give ratings to the individual seasons in the event I ever go back to re-watch them. Seems like a season or 2 of every series stands out above the rest or there is at least one season not up to par with the rest. Harder for me to keep track of now.

Yes, once it is sorted this way it keeps track of everything. If it's not available on streaming it will show if/when the discs are available.

That's why I thought it was only one season. I noticed it was multiple by seeing my instant queue drop like yours. I'm a fan though and it'll make it easier to browse when I don't know what I'm in the mood to watch.

Completely into Sons of Anarchy right now. About 7 episodes in and loving every second.

With the kids in the room, watching Ken Burns Baseball, first couple of episodes of Cheers. Had a ton of family over tonight and started up Wings from the beginning and everyone had a blast. Loved that show from the very beginning.

The two OSS-117 spy spoofs are available--Cairo: Nest of Spies (2006) and Lost in Rio (2009). The films are like a French Austin Powers, except the humor is played a lot more deadpan. Jean Dujardin as OSS-117 also has a bit of Inspector Clouseau about him. There's more stupidity and politically incorrectness than bumbling slapstick.

Director Michel Hazanavicius nails the look of sixties spy movies. They're worth checking out if you love the Connery Bonds or similar films of the same era.

Three Kingdoms: Resurrection of the Dragon: Really liked this movie. Has subtitles for those who don't like those. Solid war movie staring Andy Lau.

Centurion: Didn't like this movie at all.

Carl Sagan's Cosmos is available.

I have to say, it's not as hokey or dated as I thought it'd feel. It actually holds up fairly well. I love the way he integrates historical anecdotes to explain the cosmos. Great stuff on a bored Sunday afternoon.

I mentioned this in the rental thread after seeing it in previews a few times. Are they both good? One better than the other?

The theme song alone makes me wanna drop everything so I can become an outlaw and just ride around all day long. The chicks on the pool table part would also be cool.

Hey Is Dee Dee Home - Highly recommended for any RAMONES fan. This is basically an interview with Dee Dee Ramone. They DO NOT really cover much of the Ramones history. The interview mainly focused on Dee Dee's relationship with Johnny Thunders of the New York Dolls. He talks about 'coppin dope' constantly. He talks about writing 'chinese rocks' and goes into great detail about what they are, and how they got their name. They show footage of Johnny Thunders playing it with the Heartbreakers. Dee Dee basically lays out the background for all the things happenening to him at that time which led to writing the song. All I can tell you is, listening to a guy whose brain is completely whacked out from doing heroin all his life can be pretty interesting... things you would never expect to hear in normal conversation come up like it is normal for him. There are very random stories (and I hate using the word random, but it fits too well here) mixed in with the main topic that are just crazy.

Troy's Story - this is an amazing documentary about Troy Bayless, basically a kid that grew up in the outback of Australia riding dirt bikes all his life. He starts riding sportsbikes at an early age and goes on to become a VERY successful sportbike racer. First, it's a pretty amazing story. Second, Troy is a character quite unique from his peers in the sport. These things combine to make a story I really enjoyed. I would tell more, but would risk spoiling... please go find out for yourself.

One note, I have ridden motorcycles over the years. I don't right now, but having ridden will make you appreciate the story more. Also, after seeing this there is no doubt in my mind sportbike racers are athletes... it's pretty amazing what they do from an endurance standpoint, in combinaiton with how they handle their bike. Final note, this is done in a 4 part series (1/2 hour each). It's not one big movie. Final Final note, Ewan McGregor is the narrator.

Agree about the theme song. Makes me think of the song from Deadwood, and is just as catchy as the True Blood song.Finished season one and dove right into season two. The one complaint/question I have is that if Jax is this badass biker, what is up with the shiny white shoes and T-shirts. Take his coat off and he looks like any preppy guy from the OC. Other than that, this is the best show I have seen in a while.

Martin Scorsese's 2005 documentary on Bob Dylan, No Direction Home, is now streaming.

Watched this on PBS when it came out and thought it was excellent. Received a Peabody Award in 2006 and a Columbia-duPont Award in 2007. Holds a 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
