The Harry Nilsson doc was pretty good. Not great but pretty good and a few decent stories in there too.
Definately entertaining. I think I enjoyed the music as much as anything as a lot of his songs I had never heard before. For sure seemed like an interesting guy, wish they delved a little deeper into some of the stories they were referencing about him, sounds like there were some really good ones.
Yeah, I had heard Howard Stern talk about it a few weeks ago saying that it was really depressing to see a guy throw all of his talent away. But I didn't really get that feeling and I kept waiting for them to really show the horrible depths, but I just came away feeling like he was a guy who had some issues (that were never fully explored) and who just lived his life the way that he wanted to. He also got really heavy toward the end, but there was no explanation about that. The ending seemed more or less happy to me with all the stuff about his family. But I was interested in the overall subject. I had never heard the name, even though I have heard at least 5 of those songs many times.

Just fniished the second season of Damages. AWesome show - a little ticked that season 3 isn't avl. Same with Dexter only having two seasons available. BACK to Nip/Tuck...
Jeebus...........that's some horrible taste. What do you chase that with? Harry and the Hendersons?

Ip Man

This is a really well made foreign flick from China. It's "A semi-biographical account of Yip Man, the first martial arts master to teach the Chinese martial art of Wing Chun". The guy actually taught actor Bruce Lee, which by itself makes him pretty damn awesome. The drama is overdone in some parts and I think I would have enjoyed it even more if it stuck more closely to the true story. But it's not so bad as to take away from movie. The fight scenes are fantastic, it's obvious a lot of effort went into them.

I guess there's no way to crack a blu ray player to stream Netflix if it doesn't come with it normally, eh? I had put a blu ray player on my amazon wish list and someone purchased it, but from the recent reviews I saw and things that I read elsewhere, it looks like it formerly listed Netflix compatibility erroneously. It supposedly doesn't actually stream it.

The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia is pretty interesting if no one has mentioned. I actually know people like that!

I really liked the streaming at first...but after awhile it gets really old. Old movies that are suddenly streamed are not new...The Money Pit???

You can't stream anything hardly that is new on video. Or is MOP not doing it right?

If you are one of those guys who has to have the latest action movie it may not be as rewarding. I find plenty of docuementaries / foreign movies / indie movies / older gems to keep me busy for years, but you do have to make an effort to find them.

Watch King of Kong, Moon, Ink, or 11:14 and report back

:coffee: If you are looking for great new releases, streaming is definitely not for you. What I like about streaming is they have improved their tv offerings by leaps and bounds. I have been watching, The First 48, Pawn Stars, The Office, Gangland, Friday Night Lights, and Lost just to name a few. And there are a ton in my queue I haven't gotten to yet. And you are spot on with documentaries. Awesome selection.AS for movies? I don't watch to many on there. Casino is there, they have Lord of the Rings, 2012, and Iron Man. And some older movies that are pretty good. I also enjoy the foreign action/historical films.

Anyone heard of Valhalla Rising?

Just came out in 2009, movie about Vikings, 71% on RT, trailer looks good. I might try this out soon as it's available on Watch Instantly.

Not my cup of tea. It looked like something that I would enjoy but just got a bit surreal in the middle and end and not in a good way IMO.

It really, really, really drug along. It took itself way too seriously and used shots that were way too long on inexpressive characters.

A LOT of movies, documentaries and TV shows are leaving instant streaming on January 1st. It's pretty lame. Too many to list but you can probably find it on instantwatcher.com.

 1,100 titles (24 pages worth on this Instant watcher link) are expiring in the next month (most on 1/1).

Here are the upcoming adds which looks like a much shorter list by contrast.

Wonder why that is?

It's always nice to have a lot to choose from but I'll be happy as long as the turnover is fairly quick. Many of those that are leaving I would never have watched and I've already seen a lot of the "good" ones. There has always been enough available so that I have more than enough that I want to see without ever running out of solid options. Also with the growing popularity of Netflix instant streaming devices I don't think we'll ever have to worry about not having anything to watch. They'd never let that happen.I look forward to when they add current TV episodes. It seems to be more a matter of when, than if, that happens.

My guess is that Hulu will become the preferred method for delivering current TV. That's not based on anything more than how we currently use our Roku device. If we're in the mood for a movie or an old TV show, we go to Netflix. If we're thinking maybe a recent episode of a TV show, we go to Hulu if it's not on our DVR. I think on-demand programming for everything is the wave of the very near future, but for whatever reason I have a hard time seeing Netflix as a catchall. My prediction-again, based on nothing- is that in a couple of years most people will go to Hulu for whatever TV they didn't watch live, their cable provider or Amazon or some other on-demand service for very recent movies, and Netflix for anything that's been out more than a couple months.

The thing I hate about hulu plus is the commercials. I decided to watch the Office on netflix streaming. They had every season except the most recent one. So I watched them all on netfllix streaming, then went to Hulu. Commercials were annoying. Less than regulat tv, but still annoying,Would love to see Hulu Plus add movies (they have some that are horrible)

Priceless is actually a pretty good movie. French with English subtitles. Very funny and Audrey Tautou is hot.

Yeah, this ticked me off as well. Ended up borrowing the first two eps from a website. Now I'm not even sure I wanna invest in the series. Does it pick up?Wife and I have been going through FX's Pillars of the Earth, based on Ken Follet's novel. If you like the book you'd most likely enjoy the miniseries.

After watching the intial mini-series I had no idea what was going. Peaked a little early, but still some great television. Worth continuing.

Wife and I started Into the Electric Mist last night. Tommy Lee Jones stars, based on a James Lee Burke novel. We agreed it seems like a network TV movie. Only reason I can think that they even made it was to bring some money into LA after Katrina? Some of the actors seem to be folks they rounded up at a juke joint and stuck in the movie.

If you like James Lee Burke, it's probably worth the watch. If not, you're not missing a thing. Oh, except John Goodman topless...

I saw this too. Does this mean that I'll be able to buy the DVD online somewhere or will it be released in select theaters? I see that its been out for a while in foreign countries.
