Official Tim Tebow - The Tebow Era Begins

Recommended Posts

Absolutely ridiculous that a guy like Ryan Lindley got multiple starts this year, but Tebow couldn't.

I agree, and in 2014 AZ was the kind of team he would have worked best in, something to play for, great defense, run oriented, excellent WRs who can make plays on poorly thrown balls, and no other real options at QB.

If the rule changes and he gets them an almost automatic 2 point conversion, Kelly will seem like a visionary and all those rushing college QBs whose careers were done will suddenly get calls from NFL teams

But was it him in the pocket or allowed to run and freelance? Drop back a few steps and lob it to the WR?

This rule change would make it more college like.

Vince's head probably won't get him an invite, but Armanti was in the league as a WR last summer so maybe a team asks him to come to camp and be a 2 point QB.

You guys know the prime running ad-libbing college QBs better than I. Someone else could surely think of some guys that could get a call to tryout now

Tebow would be an awful choice for a camp arm. His inaccuracy makes it nearly impossible to evaluate your WR's and he brings media attention. Sanchez is clearly wrong.

But Kelly isn't hoodie.

A LOT of guys could look good with DJAX and Shady, etc on the field. I know, people would say the same about Hoodie and Brady and Gronk, etc, but overall, up to this point (and it can change), I think the history suggests that Hoodie helped make the players and so far, the players have helped Kelly.

This whole "thing" in Philly is very interesting to me because Kelly's arrival in the NFL truly excited me. I liked the idea of a new, fresh mind coming in instead of regurgitating all these washouts all the time. I liked the idea of fresh, innovative play. I'm not even an Eagles fan but I was excited to watch them. Now I am nervous that he's getting too big of a head and its going to crash around him. When you make the moves he has made, you had better win and win big and I'm not sure he can.

I'm mostly both interested and annoyed by the cliche psychology of it.

you say you liked the idea of 'fresh innovative play', but really only as long as it's done the way things have always been done, because if it's some change you don't understand or don't agree with it would be a personal affront --- dat guy tinks he's better than us!!

notice how people typically use us or we to pander to an audience when they actually mean I or me, as referring to themselves would seem kind of egotistical, and it's the other guy being portrayed as egotist --- you wouldn't get much support claiming some guy thinks he's smarter than you are, so you'd hide behind the crowd and say something from the back of the room like 'he thinks he's smarter than the room!', instead.

that's a fair point that he's not hoodie, but there was a time even hoodie wasn't hoodie

the villagers ended up 'winning' that one, in the end, as they usually do, dragging themselves from the muck of the thatch hovels they built for themselves to protest electricity, or vaccinations, or that hot chick that won't date them and ruined their crops.

returning to their lives digging in the dirt, safe in the knowledge that there's nobody around smarter or better than they.

remember when that idiot josh mcdaniels traded cutler for 2 firsts and a starting qb, right before unloading marshall for 2 seconds?

dat guy thought he was smarter than us, but we knews betters.

remember when the 6 win niners hired jim harbaugh who went on to average 12 wins the next 3 years, going to the conference championship each year along with a superbowl appearance?

that guy spawned threads about his tremendous ego and was run out of town.

I wonder if vince lombardi got the villagers all riled up like this, or maybe back then there was sufficient lack of telecommunication to keep us in the dark about the process so we wouldn't take insult.

chip kelly works with these guys every day and scrutinizes film of not only every breath they take, but every move they make.

I don't have any more knowledge of where kelly takes this team than you do, but I know we haven't seen it yet, so if you want something fresh and innovative then just enjoy it, stop complaining, and maybe accept the fact that when it comes to coaching a football team chip kelly is not only smarter than you, but better than you.

and by you I mean us.

Tim Tebow - QB - Eagles

Philly Mag's Tim McManus believes Tim Tebow has a "real shot" to win the No. 3 quarterback job in camp.

With G.J. Kinne transitioning away from quarterback, Tebow's competition for the No. 3 role will be the underwhelming Matt Barkley. Barkley is a better quarterback than Tebow, but Tebow would bring some versatility and short-yardage ability to a roster spot which was wasted last year. Tebow could stick on the roster if he avoids falling on his face during training camp.

Personally I think the extra point and 2 pt conversion are dumb and should be removed from the game. All TD's equal 7 pts with field goals at 3 pts. There is a dynamic with the 7/3 scoring system that is unlike any other sport. The scoring system offers strategy, drama and anticipation. The touchdown should be the primary goal so I do like the fact that it takes 2.33 field goals to equal a 7 pt touchdown.

Interesting stat I saw today, Tim Tebow leads active players in successful 2 point conversions, ahead of Brady, Brees, Rodgers, Wilson. I can't imagine he has nearly as many attempts as those guys but it's still a stat.

Tebow rushed for four touchdowns of 2 yards or less in his two Bronco seasons and was two-of-two in two-point rushing attempts during his magical 2011 season.

Barkley is going to be gone. I'm not sure how Tebow has changed in the past 2 years, however I like Tim Tebow and enjoy his story that said I can't see how there are not better fits on the open market that are better overall quarterbacks. Chip did not sign him just for the press. I think there is a plan for him and I believe he is on the roster week one.

Eagles Practice Observations: Bradford limps, Tebow struggles, Thurmond to safety

http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/inq-eagles/Eagles-Practice-Observations-Bradford-limps-Tebow-struggles-Thurmond-to-safety.html

Excerpt:

-- Tim Tebow, in his first public appearance as an Eagles quarterback, helmed the third unit as Matt Barkley ran with the second team. There have been reports that Tebow’s throwing motion and release had improved after his work with Tom House, but there didn’t appear to be much difference than how he looked two years ago. I haven’t watched Tebow up close for his entire career, but it still takes a long time for him to ####, load and throw. There’s an unnatural dip in his windup. Tebow has never been a good practice quarterback and he’s obviously still learning a completely new offense, so there shouldn’t be too much stock taken in how he threw on one non-contact day in May. But the guess here is that it will be difficult for Tebow to beat out Barkley for the third spot, even if you include his intangibles. He struggled to throw the ball downfield. He was working with a bunch of young receivers, but he often held the ball too long or would check down with a short pass. At one point late in practice, he had a throw tipped at the line that fell into the arms of 6-foot-9 rookie defensive end Brian Mihalik.

Tebow had enough problems, but being out of football for so long just adds to them, take his issues and then add rust.

However, it's been said elsewhere many times but he was more effective than most NFL backups. He's not a starter but your team has a better shot with him in there than Ryan Lindley or Matt Barkley. Put him in a creative system and he can do more.

Lord, help us.

Lord help us that we are wasting time reading threads about Tebow.

Let's start a thread about Tevo the steer at Texas oh sorry Bevo I think.

Anyway Tebow sucks as a qb. Sorry but he is a good person and Christian I do applaud him for that.

One thing I have never understood is why teams have 3rd QB's like a Lindley or Barkley who stink? Tebow himself stinks, but has proven on the field that he can win games. He's no starter, but much better than most backup/3rd QB's around the league.

Tim Tebow has been "struggling" in OTAs.

Reports of Tebow's improved throwing motion were predictably embellished. Two months shy of his 28th birthday, Tebow is an old dog who can't learn new tricks. If there's one coach crazy enough to keep Tebow around as a gadget player, it's Chip Kelly, but it's still hard to see happening. Roster spots are simply too precious. Tebow belongs on the SEC Network, where he's quite good.

This is the Tebow effect and a little bit Roto. The tweet is literally one word-struggling and look at what Roto wrote in there.

On Twitter, there are a few guys today that have said he is inaccurate and someone must've asked Chip if he'd play another position because there's a slew of "no he's a QB" type tweets.

A few days ago, he was very accurate and surprised some folks AND Barkley chimed off that he is NOT taking his spot on the team and not taking his practice reps! Barkley's statement makes me think he must've looked real good to make Barkley get so defensive.

Today Barkley has looked good and the tweets indicate he is taking Sam's spot (he is resting, was just a toe in the water day) with the one's.

Tebow's mechanics are improved. There's little doubt when there's 800 tweets about it being so. One, however, called it the slowest release imaginable.

Kelly said they'll be kicking the ball not running in XPs from the two-which if so takes away some value from Tebow but it's also contrary to some other quotes so ya gotta wonder if that's coach-speak in June.

This 3rd string QB battle just started. It won't be over for a long while. Both Tebow and Barkley are going to have good and bad days. Unless there are a ton of bad days by one of them, it's foolish to jump to any conclusion. It's just gotta play out.

Bradford's injury history may give them a better shot than usual but these are still 3rd stringers not likely to play in an NFL game.
