eta: I don't know how you guys feel about your own drafts, but I'm crushing this thing!!!!!!! You should all just hand me the championship right now!!!! That's it, just hand it over, it's okay........because it's over before it even gets started!!!!!

BTW, I didn't understand that trade of picks today.....doesn't even seem like it was necessary.

I was between a few players, and he wanted one player in particular. Since i couldnt decide who i wanted, i figured i would let the others decide for me. In turn, i get to move up two spots in the next round. It may not matter, but if it does, then it works out for both.

Flacco was likely my pick there anyway, so it cant hurt.

On to my team. Its funny you say we should give you the trophy now, i was thinking the exact same thing. As far as your starter at RB36, i wouldnt be too confident with that, and i would be careful how much attention you pay to training camp fluff peices.

With two of my top 10 FF QB's(Ryan/Flacco), 4 of my top 25 RB's, including 2 of my top 8, i have the best RB corps in the league.

I only have two WR's at this point, but i have two of my top 10, so anyone i add as a 3rd will still give me a good WR corps.

Having had a quick look at rosters I'm liking sholditchs team at the moment.

I like to talk smack and I do realize that you can't win a league championship through the draft alone. I just like to get peoples blood pressure moving a little northward.

I too like sholditch's team......he will be very competitive.

The main reason i started the QB in the first round thread in the sharkpool is because i was trying to guage a QB's preceived value and how it related to the other positions. I do my own personal rankings system that i keep updated and use for my dynasty leagues. It also has fun tools like a trade calculator, Team analyzer, and a draft tool that i use to help me during a draft.

The draft tool keeps score of each teams total player rankings value. So it will put a numerical value on what i believe to be the best team at any point of the draft. Obviously my team is 1st, but since i weigh in players perceived values as a large part of their dynasty score, it is alot closer than i thought it would be.

With only half the teams though the 7th round, the scores wont be very comparable yet, but here they are anyway.

Team1 - 323(through 6 players)

Team2 - 303(through 6 players)

Team3 - 319(through 6 players)

Team4 - 254(through 6 players)

Team5 - 294(through 6 players)

Team6 - 314(through 6 players)

Team7 - 359

Team8 - 352

Team9 - 328

Team10 - 374

Team11 - 284

Team12 - 282

Not that these scores mean much to anyone, but i thought i would post them in case anyone cared.

I dont know who is who, other than myself, but they are in draft order.

Looks like i like team7, team8, team1 and team3 the best(other than mine)

lol my team is dead last. I assume it goes for who has a shot at this year? Because I don't think there's a snowball's chance in hell I win this year, in which case your ranking is dead on :goodposting:

Actually, its based on dyansty scores. They are my rankings, so it only really reflects what i think. What i have noticed, is that the 3 lowest teams are the ones that took QB's in the first round.I should point out though, my dynasty scores have the 3 QB's going in the 2nd round, so im not totally devaluing QB's.

My team doesn't seem to be rated fairly high either based on the new stats posted in the other thread. Oh well, maybe with a top draft pick next year it'll look better in '11

Thoughts on my complete team and my mindset going into the draft:

QB - Matt Schaub (4.08)

QB - Chad Henne (9.05)

QB - David Garrard (18.08)

RB - Ray Rice (1.05)

RB - Ryan Grant (3.05)

RB - Brandon Jacobs (8.08)

RB - Willis McGahee (15.05)

RB - Jerome Felton (16.08)

WR - Michael Crabtree (2.08)

WR - Jeremy Maclin (5.05)

WR - Chad Ochocinco (6.08)

WR - Pierre Garcon (7.05)

WR - Lee Evans (10.08)

WR - James Jones (11.05)

WR - Kevin Walter (20.08)

WR - Deon Butler (21.05)

TE - Tony Gonzalez (12.08)

TE - Jermaine Gresham (13.05)

TE - Tony Scheffler (22.08)

TE - Jared Cook (17.05)

PK - Stephen Gostkowski (19.05)

DT - Green Bay Packers (14.08)

My strategy going into the draft was to get as much quality youth as possible with the biggest upside. I shied away from aging veterans as much as possible except when the value was too good to pass up. I had my sights set on Aaron Rodgers, but with him off the board, I was happy to land Ray Rice. I didn't anticipate the run on RBs that transpired so it left me somewhat thin at the position, however I wasn't going to let my need dictate my draft because there was still quality depth available, namely at the WR position.

I knew that after missing out on Rodgers, I needed to get one of my top 5 QBs and I did just that with Matt Schaub which I was very happy with. Schaub is my 4th rated QB in dynasty formats. His injury history concerns me so I wanted to make sure I had a quality option behind him but also one that was still young enough to grow into a future starter for my team. I was looking at either Stafford or Henne to fill that spot and managed to get one of the two.

Getting Garrard as my QB3 to add some depth to my lineup in the 18th round was good value and good insurance. I am happy with my QBs.

My thinking with my WRs was to get young guys who could be mainstays in the top ten to twenty ranked WRs. Crabtree obviously fits the bill for me. I tried to avoid the likes of Reggie Wayne and Randy Moss opting to wait on younger guys like Maclin and Garcon. It might be tough sailing this year as I wait for these guys to fully develop, but I should hopefully be set at this position for a number of years beyond 2010. Getting Lee Evans as my WR5 I think is a steal. The guy is an immense talent and once Buffalo fixes their QB problems (perhaps with a Jake Locker or a Ryan Mallet) in the 2011 draft he will finally be able to make good on his talent instead of having it wasted by poor QB play. He's young enough for me to wait on for the Bills to solve that issue but still serviceable enough to use as a bye week or injury replacement.

I had a few guys targeted at TE. One of my biggest wants was John Carlson and I was disappointed not to land him. I was happy that I waited as long as I did to grab Tony Gonzalez and then back him up with two promising young players. Getting Tony Scheffler in the 22nd and final round I think might end up paying dividends down the road. All of the reports out of Detroit are very positive about Scheffler and he might allow me to make a trade from this position to shore up other areas.

My biggest regret was missing out on some of the young RBs I coveted. Namely, LeSean McCoy, Jahvid Best and Justin Forsett. Those were three players who I wanted to get on my team but wasn't able to and left me scrambling somewhat when they came off the board earlier than I anticipated. I am not too thrilled with Ryan Grant as my RB2.

Given the state of my RBs, I felt the need to handcuff Ray Rice with Willis McGahee. An injury to Rice could have potentially knocked me out of contention completely this year so when I knew that I wasn't going to have the same type of depth at the position as other teams, it was crucial that I protected my investment.

Jerome Felton as a late round sleeper may turn into something decent. With both RBs ahead of him on the depth chart prone to injuries, it's a worthwhile gamble even if it doesn't pay off.

I feel going into 2010 that my team is about average. I think my QBs are among the best in the league, while my WRs are good with the potential to be great. I should compete for a playoff spot with this roster but not sure if I have the top end talent to compete for a title.

Going RB-QB-WR-WR-WR definitely hurt my chances at a solid, consistent RB2 next year, and I will have to focus on RB heavily in next year's draft. But I think if I can play matchups right, and some of my longshot picks pan out, I could be ok. No one on my team will make a good RB2 (unless a miracle happens with either Caddy, Slaton, or McFadden) but I am loaded at WR for this year and possibly next with starters of Randy, DeSean, SS1, and Meachem, who I think will be an above average flex play this year and is IMO an emerging stud who could ascend to WR2 or even WR1.
