This has been a sad (but interesting) thread to read. Someone addressed legal action earlier, and I'd like to learn if fantasy football is considered illegal gambling in California, and if so, if that precludes all legal recourse.

Sorry, but the government considers fantasy football a game of skill, not gambling. So basically we're talking about a contest awarding a prize, not gambling.

Spot on here. I commish a league with my buddies and even though our total entry fees were only $2k I hated that I kept it in my regular bank account this year. Every time I checked my balance I had to remind myself I actually had $2k less than that and budget accordingly. I can't imagine how much harder it would be with a much larger amount and I could see how it could easily get out of hand if you ran into some money trouble. I think you're comment on not mixing funds is HUGE. If any commish does that... that's a big risk.

#### that. get the fbi/treasury involved. if dude is committing mail fraud/bank fraud etc across all 50 states they might go after him. especially if 1000's of victims. And 5-6 figure losses (if he had other leagues too?) That's what the feds are forfootballguy#1 said:
