Got it today for 110.97. 3 payments of 36.99. I have actually never tried to get it for free. Just give me a price I am comfortable paying and I'll pay for what i think is a great product.

You better call back and get the Max package which includes the red zone...........I'm sure they did not give you that for 110$

I'm calling tomorrow, only after getting hyped up listening to some Mobb Deep. $110 is not a bad deal at all, but I will not be settling for $110 even with Max (the economy is so crushing, take mercy on me, DTV!). Free or bust.

I was still under contract for 14 months, but I still got some good stuff out of them

Ticket max for 75

$10 credit for 6 months so basically ticket is 15

Free hd reciever for another room (have to pay install fee of 49 for guy to come over and install but this rec was $99)

Free whole home dvr service and setup

starz and showtime free for 6 months

So, easily around $400 of savings with one phone call.

Thursday night national games all year now,Sunday and Monday night national games, double header game on Sunday is national. Throw in The Red Zone Channel and the uniqeness of SundayTicket has taken a hit. Tough to justify paying a premium price for it.

1. Go down the add/remove services, then sports package avenue

2. what Sunday Ticket deals for a long-time customer?

3. Better yet, what Sunday Ticket deals for a Cowboys fan? (he too, a Cowboys fan) -- Caution: If you live in Dallas this is not a valid reason

- Ensure he understands you want to see all of Cam/Spiller/Julio while also watching Dez

5. You really need the Ticket or else you plan to explore other opportunities. He can't help you, but he knows who can - The Fixer

6. Calmly tell The Fixer the truth about DirecTV, included but limited to:

- Discuss other area package options at low prices, for me Time Warner

- You understand DTV has the best customer service though

- Lady in the house hates the remote functionality (matter of fact, I hate it too)

- It does go out in a storm or even light rain, and the last technician told you that you must call when it goes out - Friday at 8:00pm trying to get some action with a Quiet Storm, it's the last thing Iyouant to do

- There are now cheaper alternatives to Sunday football - do you really need more than Siciliano?

- You came to DirecTV for the Ticket but can't justify paying for it anymore with the above short-falls

- Fixer tells you he loves the Ticket as well and checks from his phone while delivering bibles at church, here is when you say, yes, life without MAX is not a life worth living

7. The Fixer may make you pay $150 over 4 months but Fixer then credits you back total of $350 over 2yr, in the end the Fixer is paying you $200

good luck dudes

This thread inspired me (actually my wife, she is the uber-negotiator of the family) to make THE call today.

In addition to finding out (and getting credited back) that we were charged $7.99 a month for receiver insurance for the better part of a year, she got:

Sunday Ticket Max for free. No strange credits spread out over two years or work-arounds put into the computer.

In fact, the processing of the request was far longer than getting the retention specialist to offer it for free.

This was much easier than previous years and I will happily remain a customer for the next 12 months.

Tips from our call:

She talked about problems with service during rainy weather, mentioned my work schedule often has me missing live games on Sunday, so I watch the shortcuts because of my fantasy teams during the week. Didn't even have to push very hard. Also, got a free service call to check out the connection and placement of the dish at a future date if we want to call and schedule one.

They told me the same thing last year, so I told them to cancel my service because I could save $50 and still get red zone by switching to Dish. At that point, the guy miraculously "discovered" that, would you look at that, he was able to give me Red Zone as a standalone after all! It was weird how he managed to figure that out at the exact moment I told him to cancel my service... if I were a more cynical man, I might think he knew all along and was just lying to me.

The best advice I have is just keep calling to get what you want.

The randomness in how they give out discounts is frustrating at first, but then encouraging once you realize you can always just say "OK let me think about it.", hang up the phone, and call back immediately and get a completely clean slate with a different rep who is likely in a different call center.

If you had two dice and had to sit there until you rolled a 12 to get an awesome deal on your DirecTV service for 12 or 24 months you would probably do it.

I know I'm probably on an island here, but this isn't exactly how it works. I ended up dropping DTV 3 yrs ago (went to dish when they started doing RZ for free also with cheaper prices)... now when they have amazing new DTV deals w/ free ST, etc I am not eligible because not considered a "new" subscriber because I had DTV in the past. Kinda odd as you would think they'd want me to switch from Dish, but I have been told multiple times those deals don't apply to me and I said "OK I'll stick with Dish and Redzone if that's the case" and that's what happened. I can't really explain why this makes any sense from a business angle, but they seem to treat ex-DTV subscribers differently if you ever think about getting it back.

Interesting. We cancelled a year ago and they offer us deals like we were never customers at least monthly. I am happy to be gone from DTV though and will not go back. Could I get Ticket etc. for free if I went back? Sure. Not enough to make up for the 30 or more channels of crap and infomercials I was paying for on a monthly basis, and them constantly taking good channels and adding them to a "package tier". Good riddance......

They never OFFER it as a standalone, and will often tell you that it is physically impossible for them to give it as a standalone. This is a lie. They told me the same thing last year, and so I told them to cancel because I was going to Dish (note: this was not a bluff- I really was going to go to Dish if I couldn't get Red Zone on DTV without paying for the whole Sunday Ticket package), and then they discovered that they could do it after all.

Just made the annual call - very easy and painless this year. Background - DirecTV customer since late 1990s with autopay bill, Choice Extra package, 4 HD DVRs, Whole Home DVR service, and contract expired two weeks ago. Called, said cancel service at the prompt. It was a very polite and friendly discussion for 15 minutes. Free NFL Sunday Ticket Max ($299.95 value), $33 credit for 12 months ($396.00), Free Showtime for 3 months ($38.97), Free Starz / Encore for 6 months ($38.97). Total value of $773.89. While I did have to agree to a 12 month contract ($10 per month if terminated early and I didn't activate any new equipment), it's not really a problem for me since I've been with them for 15 years and I'll be a "free-agent" again next summer. Good luck to everyone and remember: 1. Be nice 2. Don't accept the first deal offered 3. Be nice 4. Call back as needed or if you're not successful on the first try.

Called a few days ago and got ####. Very pleasant + easy call w/ the DTV rep, but "I'm not able to offer anything more at this time".

Been with them since 98, auto pay, the whole deal. They offered ST Max half off, that was it. Declined. Will call back in a few weeks.

This has nothing to do with getting a better deal haggling with Direct TV, but........

Amazon.com has an exclusive offer, when you purchase the Madden 25 Anniversary edition on their website ($100), you get access to the NFL Sunday ticket on computers, tablets, and mobile devices- including access to the award-winning Red Zone Channel.

As a NON Direct TV customer, who can't even get the service, this deal worked out great for me. I buy Madden every year anyways which costs $60 by itself. So for another $40 I get access to NFL Sunday Ticket on my computer, which I can just HDMI out to my big screen, and watch all the NFL games.

Even if you aren't a Madden video game buyer, you could just resell the game and get at least $40-$50 back, or team up with a friend who buys the game, and just split it with them so you get the NFL Sunday Ticket.

Not that I'm aware of. I have 8 TVs and have to pay $8 per month or whatever for each of them (first is "free"). I looked into the new Comcast Infinity whatever and they charge even more ($10 per). Those monthly per box charges really grind my gears

OK, did the yearly dance. She said I can't give it to you for free because you've gotten it for free for the last few years.

I almost burst out laughing. Kept talking about Dish with Redzone blablabla....

I wound up paying $147.95 spread out over 4 payments for the NFL "Max".(Normally $299)

They offset that cost with a $15 per month credit for 15 months(+$225)

So net net I made roughly $77 for an 8 minute call.

Also, no new contract. Mine expired next month and no renew lfor other deals down the road.

Have done it the last two years. Here's last year's link:

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2012/08/29/directvs-nfl-sunday-ticket-returns-to-ps3-launches-in-september/

I got nervous last year, because I hadn't heard anything most of the summer, and then it got announced late. Which is what happened the previous year. Has Redzone Channel, and every game (will blackout any game broadcast locally, however).

My general setup was one TV on RedZone channel, and PS3 TV on whichever game I was watching. (Two screens--three is too distracting, IMO).

Just got the Max package basically for a little better than free. Called and told them that I was having a bad year financially and considering other options since there was no way I could afford the package this year, and thats the only reason I tolorate the lost signals during rain and snow and stick with DTV. They gave me the Max package for the price of the refgular package ($224, 6 payments of $37). Then they credited my account $40 per month for 6 months, essentially paying me $18 to take the max package for free and remain a customer.

I have been with them since 99, and do autopay. Pretty sure my contract is up also. I do think that facotred in.

I've read how that might not be the case, that you just get a credit off of DirecTV through this deal (there seems to be some fine print about the whole thing). I'm a satellite/cable cord cutter, and have been trying to find ways to receive as much NFL as cheaply as possible. I'm looking at both this Madden "deal", as well as the NFL mobile app which apparently would get me the Red Zone channel, and trying to see if I can "sling" that to a big screen via an apple TV or something similar?

Any other "cheap-skates" out there finding ways like that to watch more NFL? (Sorry if this is the wrong forum).

I did some digging to find out about the quality of streaming NFL Sunday Ticket. Below is a link to a review of all the streaming options for NFL Sunday Ticket, on the PS3, PC, and iPad.

http://www.sportsgeekery.com/28860/review-nfl-sunday-ticket-on-ps3-ipad-and-online/

I also found something interesting in another forum thread. "The code from Madden grants a Direct TV account (established by registering a username and password at the DTV website) access to the tablet/computer version of the Sunday ticket, fortunately, that access also worked (and hopefully will work this year) on the PS3 app (the PS3 app would require you sign in using a DTV account)."

Because from the above linked review, it seems like the streaming quality on a PS3 is better than streaming quality on your PC. And I have a PS3 to try this on. So hopefully the code works like last year, and I can access NFL Sunday Ticket on my PS3, if it is indeed better quality.

Either way though, I can deal with average quality, as long as I can watch my Fantasy team players.

I agree with the above, I'm not as worried about the quality of the stream (assuming it's at least watchable), as long as I know that I can stream on my computer after spending $100 on the Madden game that I likely won't play.

I'd like to know with 100% certainly that if I purchase the game, I'll be able to stream any game I want to on my computer to my TV LIVE.

**EDIT** - I was a DTV customer at my current address up to 3 years ago. I dropped it cause I didn't watch enough TV to justify the $130 I was spending each month. So I do have DTV "available to me", I still have the dish in my backyard (left it there in case I ever change my mind or sell the house and the buyer wanted DTV). That's the part of this that worries me that I wouldn't be able to stream games on my computer.

Good info. By the sounds of things all options are at least a small step down from the traditional method. (Unless you intend to just watch on a mobile device. But, even then the lag between switching "channels" would annoy me.)

And from the product description:

Exclusive Offers From DirecTV

  • For fans who are not currently DirecTV subscribers but are able to receive DirecTV service, they will receive a promo code entitling them to $10 off per month for their first year of service and one year of NFL Sunday Ticket Max at no additional charge.
  • For fans who are already DirecTV and NFL Sunday Ticket Max subscribers, you can access NFL Sunday Ticket on your computer, tablet, and mobile devices using your current DirecTV username and password.
  • For fans unable to receive DirecTV service, each Madden NFL 25 Anniversary Edition will include a unique code to access the 2013 regular season (17 weeks) trial of NFL Sunday Ticket on computers, tablets, and mobile devices- including access to the award-winning Red Zone Channel.

So with the description here, I don't see any reason why you wouldn't be able to stream the NFL Sunday ticket games live, from your PC hooked up to your TV. As long as you can stream them on your PC, which from the above it states you can, then hooking up your PC to the TV wouldn't affect anything,

EDIT: If you aren't going to use the Madden game itself, just get the NFL Sunday Ticket code out of it, and then throw it up on Craigslist as soon as you can, I bet you could get $75 for it, being that it's the Anniversary edition going for $100. Someone might not care about the NFL Sunday Ticket code, but they want the anniversary edition for the other in-game benefits.

EDIT #2: There is a limited amout of Anniversary edition copies, I believe 50,000 for each system. Also when I ordered my Amazon pre-order, they did not take any money out of my account. So I'd assume they don't bill you until the game ships to you in late August.

Ordered already, and they don't bill you till it ships. The line you bolded above states "for fans unable to receive DirecTV service", which isn't me as I am able to receive it, I just choose not to. Apparently EA has come out and said that you don't need to have DirecTV service, even if you can have it. I'm going on that assumption. I'm also planning on selling the game itself when I get it.

Here's hoping I just got Sunday Ticket and the RedZone channel for a net of about $40!

Having to do the song and dance with Direct TV.

Not sure what the big deal is, they could just say no dice to any deals. You have an opportunity to get huge discounts and free stuff for a phone call and you're not looking forward to it?

I don't think DirecTV has anything to do with it. This is between EA and the NFL (and to a smaller extent Amazon). DirecTV apparently has ZERO to do with the online viewing ability that the Madden 25th anniversary game gives you.

If you sell the game you definitely should get $60 back for it, considering it's the $100 anniversary edition. I'd ask $80 and go as low as $60. For $40 it's hard to beat this deal, assuming you don't have or want Direct TV. I remember last year they had NFL Sunday Ticket streaming on the PS3, but it cost $300 I believe. That was too much for me to pay for just NFL Sunday Ticket. I would have probably signed up for the PS3 streaming if it were $100-$150 range, but not $300.
