Directv NFL Ticket.... (1 Viewer)

Tell ya what, that Fantasy Zone channel is a complete waste of money/resources. Half the times I looked in in it they were sitting around a desk talking....while football was going on!!! I always thought of the Red Zone ch as catering to fantasy players so I just don't get the need for this new thing. Stupid.

Is there any way to permanently get rid of that annoying pop-up that tells you that you can press the red button to track your fantasy stats? It pops up for me every time I change the channel to a ST channel and you have to close it manually. I've had to hit "exit" like 85 times today for it.

yeah I have zero desire to ever tune in. TV talking heads are generally terrible at fantasy advice and on gameday red zone is the channel that is on.

Does anyone here have their DirecTV 'bundled' together with ATT (home phone, wireless, TV, or internet)?

I'm dropping my ATT internet next week and they say because I'll be left with 1 service (home phone) that bill will go up since it's no longer 'bundled' with another service. They suggested I bundle my DirecTV with my ATT home phone (I think they are partners or something) to retain my pricing. My only concern is if I do that, will I still be able to deal directly with DirecTV for this annual Sunday Ticket 'dance', since my bill is now being paid through ATT. The ATT rep said I would still call DirecTV for any programming changes (I didn't mention Sunday Ticket specifically when I asked), but I want to make doubly sure and see if anyone else here has insights/experience with this?
So I emailed DirecTV to ask and this is what they just got back to me with --

Dear Mr. xxx,Let me begin by thanking you for keeping our service for several years. We most certainly appreciate your business with us. Our thoughts turn gratefully to those who have made our progress possible.

I am excited that you are interested to have bundled service with your DIRECTV account with AT&T. My name is xxx, and I am a Customer Service Specialist from DIRECTV’s Email Support. I am very glad to help and provide the information you need.

Mr. xxx, we are unable to discuss the cost of bundle offers through email. We also want to be sure that you have the best option available for you. Since you already have an existing AT&T, please call them to have your DIRECTV account bundled with their service. They are staffed with knowledgeable and goal oriented Customer Service Representatives who are ready to help you.

Sounds like I'll still be able to make the yearly call I guess?

Is this the yearly thread with tips to get it for free? I've gotten it the last two years and haven't made the call yet, I can't remember when I did last year.

It is. Luckily for me my contract ends August 1st and my argument will be just like every other year when my contract is up.

"You want me to stay, NFL Sunday Ticket it is. I have no reason to stay if I dont get the ticket."

I've done the same for a long time, but this year the approach is different. I need new receivers. Some replacements, some new, And that means a couple-year contract. So I'll get it free this year, but probably not the next couple. So I have to make sure this deal is as good as possible. Time to load up and make myself future-proof with 4k receivers.

You can usually still get a pretty good deal even if you're under contract.

All you guys that haven't done so already need to do follow the steps here: https://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index.php?/topic/537834-can-you-negotiate-with-directv/page-23#entry18043177

I was able to get $45 off a month, free Sunday Ticket Max and a $200 Visa gift card.
Me too. Called yesterday and set a cancel date, they called me today with the deals, I didnt even have to ask.

The deadline may be tonight, so you need to do it ASAP. Worst case scenario, if you cant get the deals, just cancel the cancellation.

Worth it to save $1066+ with a simple call.

Called today said I wanted to cancel. After a 10 minute call, I got ST Max for free, $20 off bill per month for 12 months, Showtime free for 6 months and 1/2 off HBO for 6 months.

I'll do it all over again this time next year.

In Australia you can get game pass, redzone and NFL Network for $129 for a year. Why do american companies make up pay so much extra for being here. Drugs anyone?

Why did the NFL limit viewers to Directv? Why isn't it available on cable, dish or online? Roku would be nice. What bull NFL.

Called yesterday. Asked for cancellation department. I asked if there was any promotions I qualified for. He said I could get MLB innings free. He also offered premium channels free for 3 months. I asked him if there was anything for ST Max. He said no. I told him that was not going to be good enough that I would call him back to cancel when my billing cycle ended. He asked me to hold and after a few minutes he came back and said that he didn't have any promotions for ST Max because the system is already showing I have it for free :) I said awesome. So I asked for more free stuff. Got a few more discounts for 12 months/$35.

It really depends who you get on the other side...just keep trying.

I made a phone call last week and the rep wasn't able to offer me anything. He went on to say they don't have their Sunday Ticket deals available yet and told me to try back next month. I plan on calling early to mid August. I haven't paid for NFL Sunday Ticket in all 10 years I've had it, so I hope I'm able to get it at a discount again this year.

Skip the Sunday Ticket and just get the Red Zone. So much better.
Not an option for DTV customers. The Red Zone is part of the Sunday Ticket and not an ala carte channel unfortunately.
I have gotten red zone only in 2 of last 4 seasons with directv. Just call them, say sunday ticket is too expensive and you want only red zone. If you speak to customer retention and threaten to leave they'll give it to you free. You can get sunday ticket for free some seasons as well.

Interesting...had the exact call two weeks ago and gave the CSR the reason for my canceling and they said they would fill out a note card about wanting the Red Zone channel only. They let me cancel the subscription with no mention of adding the Red Zone Channel as an ala carte.

Just called tonight.... Key, just get to The Retention Dept......

12 months $10 off

12 months $10 off

6 months $60 off

Another $54 or so off

Free Starz for 4 months with auto cancel

Max Ticket is costing me about $5, I will take it...

I got my monthly price to $81 (saved $30) and free NFL ticket for renewing for a year. I told them that I see ads for $29 a month to join plus free NFL package. Why as a loyal customer can't I get that same deal? They spun a good sales pitch and made some offers. My goal is to ALWAYS lower the monthly price each year, and the last few years it has gotten significantly cheaper. They must be hurting financially. I would never opt for a two year contract with them unless they gave me the farm in the process. Don't carry insurance/protection plan with them either. You can always add on then make a claim a week or so later. One of their agents told me that.

I am a two year contract customer who still has a year left on his contract.

Based on some of the recent responses I decided to call back and inquired about only getting the Redzone channel due to not being able to afford the NFL Sunday Ticket (even though I was told not available a few days ago).

Told automated system I had a programming question and the first CSR stated they did not offer the Redzone Channel ala carte but could knock off $60.00 of my bill for the year and wanted to transfer me to another rep who might be able to help me further.

Next lady offered me reduction of $160.00 off bill for year with no strings attached and NFL Sunday Ticket for half off ($120.00).

By simply calling and asking for Redzone Channel ala carte due to high cost of Sunday Ticket I not only got the NFL Sunday Ticket but saved $100.00 for the year.

The difficult part is deciphering my bill to see if I will actually get the savings. :wall:

Moral of the story is call and if not satisfied call again. Different reps will go an extra mile for you when others won't.

ETA: Looking at my programming I got NFL Sunday Ticket Max for $120.00 which appears to be more expensive version of NFL Sunday Ticket. Bonus....

Nice job!

When you call you need to say "cancel service". That way you get right to customer retention. If one rep doesn't give you what you want, hang up and call back. Every rep has a different cache of stuff they can offer it seems. You absolutely can get free red zone. You can get free ST as well depending on the rep you talk to. I just made the call for a friend. It took a few different reps but finally got free sunday ticket max, free baseball package for the rest of season, $43 off bill for a year and a one time $100 credit. They'll bend over backwards to keep you if you threaten to leave.

Dang...that is impressive.

What'd you spend that 2nd $200 gift card on Willie?

No sign of that 2nd card yet. They may be on to me.

Call them back, say "cancel service" and when you get the person on the line explain to them you just got ST max for 120 but your friend called this morning and they gave it to him for free. Tell them you're a little steamed that you have to pay and he doesn't and ask if there's anything they can do. If they don't give it to you for free they'll probably try to give you other credits to make up the difference.

AT&T bought out DirectTV correct?

What happens when they officially take the reins...
You should expect to find hidden activation fees, overage charges for watching too much Tv and a general attitude that they're doing you a favor by letting you be a customer.

Don't forget the moving shell game where they will move your bill date up from the first of the month to the last days of the month so at some point, you actually will pay the bill twice during one month yet see no proration for those 3-5 days you moved.

I have always found that to be an effective tactic in the past. I have had great luck with them. However, this year, I am in the same boat as the above poster who has a year left on a contract and I got shot down on the first go around. I'll call back again..and again...if needed and I'm sure at some point I'll end up with some savings. It's funny how this works but I find this year I don't have as much fight in me. I might skip the ticket this year. Honestly, I only miss Redzone. But next year, when I'm not under contract, I'll rake it all in again, no doubt. It's a game. I think in 7-8 years, I have probably paid the equivalent of 2-3 years worth of ST list price due to this freebie and that discount here and there. Take what you can get. LOL.

any good streaming deals?
It is 200 for broadband, same as NBA league pass. However, quality is subpar for streaming online, buffers, stops, doesn't work for certain games, etc. I don't have cable so I got it last year. Still no choice as without sunday ticket, you don't get many games, a few a week on national tv.

Just made the call. Very happy. My contract was up. Got 40 bucks off my bill for next 12 months lowering my bill to 68 bucks a month. Got 3 receivers, hd dvr all home dvr. No premium channels. Got ticket for free. Signed one year contract but I will call again this time next year.

I moved out of Philly a few months ago and went with Verizon Fios in my new area (Media, PA) as the house was already set up for that. Not really interested in making the switch as Fios has been pretty good on all fronts.

Has anyone looked into the full streaming option, which includes red zone?

just called and talked Stephanie....VERY happy with my new deal....$35 off per month for 12 months ($110 total down to $75 total), free NFL Ticket, free movie channels for 4 months and zero hassle from Stephanie, in fact she seemed very happy to find me these deals....GOOD LUCK to the rest of you.....

Didn't get as good a deal as I did last year. Was trying to downgrade to just the redzone channel, came back with an offer of $50 off my bill per month for 12 months, new receiver. So with the credits the NFL MAX is costing me a little over $8 a month

Are you in or out of contract?
