Some folks come to FBG to ride on the coattails of the excellent staff's projections. Others come here to discuss the NFL and attempt to prove their mettle on these forums. On the topic of the latter, there are some great I thought this would be an entertaining way for folks to show what they've got.

THE CHALLENGE:

Project the top QB/WR/RB/TE each week. You'll be projecting the top 10 at all positions except WR where you'll be projecting the top 15. No need to post points. Just a simple numbered list at each position. Posting commentary is allowed but not required.

THE METHODOLOGY:

WEEK 3-11: Each week entrants cut to the following numbers:

Week 3: 26,

Week 4: 24

Week 5: 22

Week 6: 20

Week 7: 18

Week 8: 16

Week 9: 14

Week 10: 12

Week 11: 10 Finalists

WEEKS 12-16: Scoring Resets then Top 10 Compete for Title with cumulative scoring over the 5 week period.

SCORING:

Utilize Scoring System Below

One point for each player correctly in Top 10 (or 15 in case of WR).

One additional point for each player correctly in Top 5

Bonus 3 points for player correctly listed at #1 at his position for the week.

Passing TDs = 6 points

Interceptions Thrown = -2 points

Fumbles Lost -2 points

Rushing TD = 6 points

Receiving TD = 6 points

Passing Yardage = .04 points per yard (25yds/pt)

Rushing Yardage = .10 points per yard (10yds/pt)

Receiving Yardage = .10 points per yard (10yds/pt)

Receptions = 1 Point

2pt Conversions = 2 Points

FINALIZED

THE REWARD:

I'll buy the winner a 2012 FBG Subscription. I know it's not much but the real reward is the bragging rights/cred associated with winning something like this. In addition I feel the entire community benefits from seeing these projections each week. I know I personally value the opinions of some folks on this forum more than others. I know I'll be looking at their posts in this contest closely. If FBG (or others) wish to offer any sort of other prizes associated with the challenge thats great.

WHO CAN COMPETE:

THE FIELD IS CURRENTLY LOCKED. Only the FBGs who competed in Week 2 are able to enter. Exceptions will be made in the case of LHUCKS or MOP.

DEADLINE:

Entries can be accepted starting now through Saturday at Noon. If you want to change your Entry, please edit your original post. One entry per person. For purposes of the tiebreaker, your final post/edit time will be considered your entry time.

ENTRY FORMAT:

For simplicity purposes, entries must be formatted in format of the subsequent post. Simply reply, remove the quote tags and complete the "Form". Please try to maintain the colored formatting. Please try to at least spell the players last name out fully and use the first initial. Shorthand/Nicknames make matters harder to score. Also incorrect entries (ie incorrect number of players, etc) will be voided.

Oh shoot I just noticed the deadline as well, I made a last minute adjustment - I had Fitzpatrick at 5 Flacco at 6 Rodgers at 7 and Cutler at 8, I flipped Rodgers and Cutler ahead of Fitz and Flacco, up to Icon as far as fair or foul, dont wanna be a special case.

I am going to assume that entries that were late or edited after the deadline will not be included - if we have a noon Saturday deadline it should be firm (yeah would be particularly chaffing when I was out of town for a family funeral and didn't have a chance before the deadline to get Gates out of my lineup)

Icon hasnt posted in this thread in a while, im curious whether my entry that was submitted a day early then edited 2 hours after the deadline that I was also unaware of lol still counts, was hoping he would have posted back by now - I only made a small change it ended up being irrelevant since the 2 QBs I moved up finished in the top 10 anyway and the 2 I moved down also finished in the top 10 but none of the 4 were in the right spots.

I know I came in late as well - really had nothing to do with who would be active or not. My best friends wedding was the night before...long night. Anyway, even if I'm out of the running for the prize I'd still try to compete for bragging rights.
 
I will official :shrug: my indifference to adherence to the deadline for my fellow competitors. If they are kept in, that fine by me as it's a fun free contest :)

IMO we're going to give a 2 point penalty for any entries submitted/edited after noon.

In the interest of fairness... I'm going to move the deadline back to 5pm CT on Saturday to allow late edits, however I encourage everyone to remember:

1) WEEK 4 : Any edits or posts after 5pm will DQ the entry. Period.

2) Ties go to the earlier post/edit time. Lots of these entries are clumped together in scoring... you're running a pretty big gamble editing your post toward the end of the week as you're going to be moving yourself to the bottom of the pack in any scoring cluster you end up in. It's not as critical early on... but as things thin out, it could be the difference between elimination or advancing.

It all depends how James Casey (HOU) is listed - TE or RBIn either case, delete Finley at #4 and either insert Casey at #3 or Heath Miller and Todd Heap tied at #10.If Casey is a TE and not an RB, he would come off the RB list, moving everyone below him up one slot and MJD and ADP would slide in tied at #10.I agree with the rest of the lists. -Byron

You have Casey listed at #6 RB, but he is listed on most sites (all that I have seen) as a TE
 
27 if Casey is a RB, 29 if he's a TE (per Bronco's assessment above). RB's owned me this week, a dismal 4. Hope I survive to redeem myself.

Nice, fair solution, ill be more careful in the future.Pending whatever errors (I think the James Casey in the RB section should be someone else and #10 should be peterson) I have 29-2 for late entry. 30-2 if Peterson sneaks into the top 10 - could have been worse 4pts on my RBs sheesh.

I did a quick self count of 26 before casey and double fin resolved. Completely gross week at rb with only 3 pts.

Icon,Could you please address these points before it becomes any issue in future weeks? It's going to create a big mess if we can create conditional lists depending on who is active/inactive in various games and at various positions. Likewise with shared names like 'Nelson'. Jordy or David could easily finish in the top 10 in a given week.

As an example, I knew when I listed Peyton Hillis that I did so at risk. If I didn't like that risk, I could have just left him out and entered someone else.
