And the game ends on a pitch that had been called a ball most of the game.

Got them to two outs in the top of the eighth with a lead, and then I had to leave to come back to work.

:wall: But am I really all that surprised? Sheesh.

Just wait til next season when the Astros aren't in the division anymore. That's a dozen wins GONE.

Dempster had his splitter working all day and the stat line shows it.

Woody needs to challenge people coming out of the pen.

Tracy and Desmond hit some pretty good pitches low and out of the zone by Marmol to take the lead, he gets a pass.

Granted it wasn't a good day to hit and I hate being a negative Nancy, but I'm pretty sure this cubs line-up is THE worst I've seen in my lifetime. I checked all the opening day lineups dating back to 1980. Here, you be the judge........If Sveum can get these guys to win 75 games I'll be impressed.

Might be a fun-ish year if the cubs run like this all year.

Oh and so far I like this Mather guy

This can't bode well for LaHair. Platooning with Jeff Baker?

#Cubs Sveum picks Baker over LaHair at 1B vs Narveson: "[baker] swings the bat too good against left-handers to get him out of there."

Grand slam for LaHair. Cubs slobberknocking Wainwright.

The Cubs have a chance to take a series versus a division rival IN St. Louis with no David Freese and our new skipper puts out THIS line-up.......

Reed Johnson

Blake DeWitt

Stalin Castro

Jeff Baker

Ian Stewart

Joe Mather

Geovany Soto

Marlon Byrd

Paul Maholm

No Darwin Barney, David DeJesus, Alfonso Soriano, and Brian LaHair (has a grand slam in the series). These guys are probably your best everyday hitters outside of Castro and Stewart. As lame as that sounds.

Want to shake things up? Why not put in Clevenger who's been tearing it up offensively (hitting .667) and bats left-handed?

Good call Sveum.

He's generally been effective when healthy throughout his career. For now, the reports are his shoulder is just fatigued. I haven't heard any mention of surgery.
