When it was all said and done, IMO Roberts deserved it.

Kershaw pitches on 6/26 with Doyers trailing SF by 8 games. He doesn't pitch again until Sept 9th when they're up 4 in the division

Did that as a rookie manager with only about 90-95 starts from his pre season projected rotation, 31 pitchers total, the Puig headache, etc.

Maddon tinkered because he could, because he had room for error. Sure he looked genius at times, because at times it worked, but I don't think he ever needed to truly manage that team. They were on cruise control from day one.

I voted Ventura

No big deal to manage the 108 year World Series drought of the Chicago Cubs with all of the "best team in baseball" expectations on top of it.  To own that from day one and still pull it off is pretty impressive.

Bochy should get a best supporting manager nomination for that

@JLester34

While my efforts to eliminate pitchers from having to throw to 1B didnt pass, I'm proud of the PA & Owners for coming together on a new CBA!

I'm a fan of the wade Davis deal. Soler needs to play everyday to see what he is and that wasn't happening in Chi

Jason Heyward has to be better next year, right? Just an abnormally down year?

He hasn't hit for #### since his rookie year right?

Heyward is a mess.  Maybe he'll settle in and get back to at least being average.

I would have preferred a starter for Soler, but his value wasn't where it needed to be to make that happen.  One year of Wade Davis, healthy, is seemingly a better option than Chapman or Jansen at 5 years and $80M+.  The Cubs have some young guys they're going to need to throw money at very soon.

I like that they're kicking the tires on Tyson Ross. Hope they sign him.

Yeah but it's gotta be a multi year deal. I'd live this move.

Got married this weekend in Columbia, MO (about 100 miles west of St. Louis).  Had the DJ play "Go Cubs Go" about 3 songs into the night.  Me, my newly wed wife, and 5 groomsman (all cubs fans) were singing along and dancing around.  One of my favorite moments of the night.

First, congratulations you idiot

Second, was at a wedding a few weeks ago in the Bloomington area, big family event prolly 20-80% cub to card fans

bride and groom played GCG and several Card fans lost it, getting very upset   I told my uncle to relax it's just a song , and when that didn't work, I told him to stop acting like a #####.    Now that didn't go over well one bit

my my grandmother, who is pushing 90, had to yell at him to settle him down

catdmial fans are are still a little upset

Anyways, my 5 year old asked me to play a Christmas song on my phone this morning so I did. Afterwards, I asked my 3 year old to pick a song and he requested Go Cubs Go.

I liked what I saw on MLB Network last night.  He's definitely getting the bat head out sooner.  Taking that from the cage to 96 MPH in a game is the challenge.

He really needs to work on using the whole field.  He grounds out because he's trying to pull everything

Friend of mine is a chef at a high end BBQ place downtown

Said friend had a meeting with Theo about hosting the Cubs official WS party.   Apparently they haven't had an opportunity to have a real bash.

Theo had a couple requests:

Party is for about 150

Stay open until 4(usually close at 1, but are out of meat by 10)

They will supply a band, but several members of the party will end up on stage(Eddie Vedder will be in attendance)

Several Chi-Celebs will be there, including musicians and actors

After food service is complete, the staff is expected to party too(pictures and videos are welcome)

Well, the party is 1-7 at Green Street Meats(good luck getting in)

Don't know why I'm posting this here, guess I needed to tell someone.

The thread for the World Series Champion Cubs cannot fall to page two of the Baseball Forum.

So, save a minor signing here or there they seem to be done for the off-season.

Adding Wade Davis, hopefully healthy, and Kyle Schwarber both for an entire year to this team seems like plenty to me.  Speculating on a Joe Maddon lineup is a fool's errand, but I'll take a shot at the Opening Day lineup and roster at least.

Kyle Schwarber - LF

Kris Bryant - 3B

Anthony Rizzo - 1B

Ben Zobrist - RF

Wilson Contreras - C

Addison Russell - SS

Jason Heyward - CF

Javier Baez - 2B

Jon Lester

Jake Arrieta

Kyle Hendricks

John Lackey

Mike Montgomery

Wade Davis

Hector Rondon

Pedro Strop

C.J. Edwards

Rob Zastryzny

Caleb Smith/Brian Duensing

Justin Grimm

Koji Uehara

Jon Jay

Albert Almora

Miguel Montero

Matt Szczur

Tommy La Stella

I really wished for Ross, but kind of like the Anderson move. Maybe tinker with a 6-man while he's healthy
