4 QBs in a row going 5-6-7 & 8. ........The times they are a changin'

This change is indeed unprecedented in the WSL Drafts, but it due in part to the time of the year that the drafts take place. There are so many question marks at the position and combine that fact with the meteoric rise in passing statistics, it seems like one of those things that should have happened a year ago.I have noticed that the top of the rookie draft polls has a similar outcome where Luck and RG3 are in the top five drafted where history sees few QBs being drafted in the first round, let alone the top of the first round. Will this focus on QBs maintain steam all through the off-season and into August when the 2012 Redraft leagues draft? Glad that I took Rodgers early, even though I had to give myself a talking to in order to do it. I might not have done it without the extra day when the board was down.

it's crazy for teams to not try and move the ball through the air anymore......taking an uber qb early can keep you in the hunt most weeks....

the people this may hurt is those feeling pressure too early to grab a qb after the studs are gone....

Not only are the QBs dominating, but the RB position is a freaking mess, committees, injuries (devastating ones too), and general suckitude of the position in general.

The second round has witnessed a nice RB run with 6 in a row taken now. Anybody surprised at the early drafting of some of these second rounders?

Sproles, Lynch, Peterson, Mathews?

not at all.I think with the injuries to several key RBs and the top5 QBs off the board, the WRs all look the same and the RB position is a mess.I took Mathews because I love his upside and Im a homer and I expect his best season to come, and he will be a top10 pick in these next season.

With the WSL there is no baseline to go against as far as calling a pick early. I was up until my pick going to go another direction until I looked ahead to what my crew would look like if I didn't take an RB here. I feel like I can more likely find anchors at WR and QB in the next few rounds than I would an RB1.

Looks like this will be the patience encouraging draft. We are a full week in and still have not gathered any momentum at all.

Not happy about the 2nd Rnd RB run . Decided to swing for the fences and skip over the more obvious WR

Thats who I was targeting at 2.7 before I switched to RB.

Nice pick with Eli fiddles. Really wanted him there but I guess Romo isn't too bad of a fall.

Was hoping one of Eli or Romo would make it to me, but wasn't really expecting that to happen. So close though.

10 QBs in the first 3 rounds  certainly made some value slide

1.07 Drew Brees QB NO:

Sometimes need those big weeks from your QB to get you through. Safe pick here with lots of weapons. Brady was next option and little surprised to see Cam go in front of Brees. This team likes to throw the ball and I see that continuing. Really should have beaten SF and advanced in the playoffs so I don't see this team freaking out too much on offense and committing more to the run, etc...I expect Brees to continue to put up monster numbers each week. Expect to Colston to resign.

2.10 Roddy White WR ATL:

1st in targets and 2nd in receptions, even with Jones in town. About as solid/consistent as they come. This team may throw even more than they did last year. Gotta start 3 each week.

3.07 Aaron Hernandez TE NE:

To me this was a no brainer and I almost took him in round 2 because of this scoring system. But saw how he was falling in the other WSL's (kinda crazy), so thought I could get him here which seems like a gift. Blew up in the playoffs, which doesn't count in this league, but just sayin. If my math is correct (am using Anarchy scoring which I believe is basically the same as Survivor) in weeks 1-17 he had the 4th highest overall (non QB/RB) avg points per week, trailing only Gronk, Graham, and Megatron. Points per week is what you want in this format. Cosidering that Welker and Gronk were healthy all year, Hernandez still got his. Averaged over 21 points a week in this format. I expect this offense to continue to feature the pass which is why he is selected over someone like Davis, he's younger than Witten, healthier than Gates, and Finley disappeared at times last year. I'll take the 4th highest scorer and 21 points per week in the 3rd round, plug him in at TE, and take my chances. One could argue he might get a bigger peice of the pie next year. :banned:

Maclin was a steal, was eyeballing him at the bottom last round.

I wondered why Bass didnt take him, but he already has McCoy and Vick, so too many eagles wouldnt be good fro bye week issues

That was the main reason, but I have him behind Thomas and Lloyd anyway.

1.07 Drew Brees QB3 NO:

2.10 Roddy White WR6 ATL:

3.07 Aaron Hernandez TE4 NE:

4.10 Marcus Colston WR20 NO/FA

Think he resigns/tagged. Only 28. Liked getting him here. 80/1143/8 on 107 targets. And he missed 2 games and only had 1 reception first game back. After that he was a beast especially late in the season. Tough receiver. WR10 in points last year even with 2/basically 3 missed games. WR7 in points per week avg.

5.07 Steve Johnson WR26 BUF/FA

Could also get tagged, which might be best. 76/1004/7 on 134 targets. WR16 in points, WR24 in points per week avg, 11th in receptions. Solid WR3 in this format as can have some big weeks. Didn't like what was left at other positions here so locked up WR "starters". Could come back to bite me going this direction but I think after the top 7-8 or so RB's we are all going to be fighting for scraps/points at the RB position. Passing league.

I like this start Ref. You got a round value with picks 3-5. I considered Hernandez at the 2/3 turn. Colston is an early 3rd rd value, johnson late 4th.

I keep looking at Broadway G's team in 3 and think, how I wish those players would keep dropping to me but alas, this group is not letting anyone drop that I prefer. Making picks is hard right now.

3.07 Aaron Hernandez TE4 NE:

4.10 Marcus Colston WR20 NO/FA

5.07 Steve Johnson WR26 BUF/FA

6.10 Michael Bush RB25 OAK/FA

Could have gone with a few different backs but have been eye balling M. Bush. Really like the way he runs and finishes off runs. Was kinda surprised that he had almost 40 receptions last year for almost 400 yards. Total roll of dice here that he somehow ends up being the man somewhere whether that is in OAK or elsewhere. I think his services will be in demand. Best case scenerio, they deal McFadden and Bush is the guy. Next best, he goes somewhere else and is the guy, after that I guess I just settle for splitting a little time with McFadden until he gets hurt again. Hopefully not eliminated by then. At this point in the draft having committed to scraps at RB I went with a guy whose game I like the best of the remaining backs. His situation may not be the best right now, but I thought he presented the most talent left and gambled on his upside should things work out.

7.07 Ben Tate RB33 HOU

Was hoping for Hillis or Helu here but had a feeling they wouldn't make it. Had two other names typed in that will probably go pretty soon but changed my mind at last minute. Started thinking about my Bush pick and decided to go with another potential upside pick. Talked myself out of what seemed like the obvious pick here at RB and took another gamble on talent. Even when he gets just a few carries he can be somewhat productive. Hated this pick but Tate had almost 1000 yards last year and HOU has a great run blocking scheme. Almost said screw it and went QB here. Maybe should have as a QB2 run is probably on the horizon. Having Brees on board may allow me to pass on the QB2 run for a round or so and add some depth.

QB 1.05- Aaron Rodgers – WSL drafts more than any other have less sure things at the QB position. Combining that with the fact that these are 16-team leagues and you really need to get a solid QB to anchor your team. Rodgers is extremely reliable over the past couple of seasons and has an abundance of receiving options and is my top choice for solid QB anchor.

WR – I determined to weigh the WR and TE positions more heavily than RB in this draft because there is more certainty (or rather reliability) at that position over the season. I also weighed the individual WRs a little heavier than the TEs as I believe that the TE position is continuing to develop more depth.

2.12 Greg Jennings WR8

3.05 Vincent Jackson WR 14

4.12 Miles Austin WR 22

These three guys are all heavily targeted WRs on aggressive offenses and each have the ability to produce top WR scores on a week to week basis. I will rank these three guys against any other team in our league. I still need to acquire depth as even with solid anchoring players, there is weekly volatility and with 3 WRs scoring each week, more options must be added.

TE – 5.5 Dustin Keller TE 11 – He is obviously a very athletic TE that is capable of doing more than he has done to date. I waited late and obviously still need to add another nice receiving TE.

RB – 6.12 Shonn Greene RB 26

7.3 Mike Tolbert RB 31

– was happy to get Greene after waiting this late to draft my first RB, however extremely disappointing at the run that went on at and after the Greene pick. Had targeted Hillis first and Ingram second for my next RB the next round and wound up settling for Mike Tolbert, who is a free agent, with even more uncertainty.

very comparable strategy to Stinkin Ref, who posted immediately before this one.

I like the Greg Little pick. He's a talented player & I think Cleveland will bring in a QB that can get him the ball (RG3 or Flynn).

QB - Matt Ryan, Ryan Fitzpatrick

RB - Ryan Mathews, CJ Spiller

WR - Larry Fitzgerald, Torrey Smith, Greg Little

TE - Jason Witten

After my boring start of Mryan-mathews-Fitz-Witten, I have added upside.

CJ Spiller carved himself out a bigger role in 2012 even if its a time share. I also think FreddyJax is old and coming off a bumm wheel.

Torrey Smith is a deep ball specialist and already has passed Boldin as the #1 option as a rookie.

Greg Little should improve on a decent rookie campaign, hopefulyl Cleveland addresses their QB spot.

I took Ryan Fitzpatrick because the backup QB run has begun and the picking were getting slim, capable of big games for sure.

Decent start, through 8, Im usually more Vet focused than this draft for me has been.

QB Phillip Rivers. Not much to say here. Top QB is needed by all. I think he rebounds this year after a somewhat down year last year that was still not that bad

RB Arian Foster, Beanie Wells, Mark Ingram. With 16 teams and having to start 2, they go quickly. I have loaded up here this year. Still think Beanie is extremely talented and if healthy can have big games. Ingram in year 2 hopefully picks it up. Foster is what you want as not many all round RB's this days

WR Mike Wallace, Jeremy Maclin. Certainly not as good as most that have put up there units but still not a bad start

TE Jared Cook. NOt a top TE but played well near the end last year. Was really hoping Gresham would drop to me.

Not a bad team and certainly no bad picks as Ingram and Wallace were real value compared to other drafts. No real reaches with Beanie being the highest and maybe should have gone Maclin and Holmes there instead but wait and see.

Edit to add that after our slow start, we have really made some progress and caught up to 3 and not that far behind 2 now. Well done.

Took the Luck Plunge... Figured out of all the backup QB's coming up he was the most interesting. Also liked Fitzpatrick a lot there.

If Luck starts in Indy as presumed, he should have some decent weapons to throw to and I took a flyer on Dallas Clark hanging around. The defense might also set that team up for some shootout type games.

* I'm usually around during the week but, can we set the "Twilight" clock back to 8 hours - I'll be skiing from Friday till Tuesday and might hit a snag but, I'll send picks around the best I can.

Really? I have maclin infront of both of those guys, easily. I remember last year when everyone's slam dunk was DeAngelo going to Denver. I know Lloyd in NEpat land is a "foregone conclusion" but we will see.

Good point on deangelo. Lots of Wayne to pats speculation as well. I don't see it though. Skins will probably outbid them.
