IMDB site

Series introduces the Robertsons, a Louisiana bayou family living the American dream as they operate a thriving business while staying true to their family values and lifestyle. Ask anyone in Louisiana and they'll tell you that the bayou state's favorite first family doesn't live in the governor's mansion but in the backwoods, where the Robertsons' rags-to-riches story is still unfolding. A homegrown mom-and-pop operation, Duck Commander has become a sporting empire by fabricating top-of-the-line duck calls and decoys out of salvaged swamp wood. This newly minted multimillionaire family is kept in line by business-savvy Willie, who runs Duck Commander with the help of his brother Jase, their respective wives Korie and Missy, patriarch and founder of the company, Phil, and uncle Si. Together they run a booming business that employs half their neighborhood, but at the end of the day, you can find the whole family around matriarch Miss Kay's dinner table.

"the problem with the world today is there's too much concrete"

I've pretty much turned into a duck hunting fanatic over the past few years so this is right up my alley.

Awesome show. Love Phil.

"Find you a woman that can cook. They say you can live on love. That's crazy. You'll starve to death."

"The more make up a woman wears the more she's tryin to hide. Make up can hide a lot of evil."

"She may be an ugly woman but she if cooks squirrel and dumplins, that's the woman you go after"

"If you catch squirrels for your woman she will never cut you off in bed."

If you don't have enough time to kill and catch things...well you don't have enough time.

I'm not sure there is true 'reality' television, if there ever was. What you get is a sit-com where every action and word is scripted, or "reality tv" where a general outline is provided with some ideas for a plot, and then the characters are free to make it up as they go along. What was that movie with McConaughey where a camera followed him but he had no script and was supposed to go about his normal day? Was it Ed? That would be real 'reality' tv and I doubt it would last very long.

Every last bit of it is scripted, but it's still funny as heck.

Early Real World is the closest to true unscripted tv.

I cannot stand scripted "reality" shows, but this one is fantastic. Love it.

Love this show...yes, its obviously scripted.

But the timing and just how Phil and Jase talk is gold.

Add in Si and its high comedy.

Only complaint is they need to do away with Mountain Man. His part(s) are so the most obviously scripted and the slow-talking schtick is painfully unfunny.

A (not so) little-known fact: The Dad (Phil) was actually a stud football player who was ahead of Terry Bradshaw on the depth chart at Louisiana Tech, but gave up football because it interfered with duck hunting season. And for all the attention given to being "backwoods", Phil actually holds a Masters in English :banned:

Oh, I figured he was pretty educated...he speaks well and you can tell he just has a ton of knowledge...but he is still pretty backwoods from the standpoint of he seems he would rather just live off the land and that this whole show seems odd to him in a way.

More of something Willie is pushing over him really wanting it.

Phil has been banging out videos and doing marketing appearances for years. He's just playing a role.

Whoever writes this mat'l is very creative.

I don't think its totally just a role with him.

Look at his house/land vs. the kids.

I think Willie pushes much of the expansion to where they are over him.

Just my opinion on that.

And looking forward to the Phil/Si/Miss Kay appearance here in Nashville next April.
