I am fairly new to fantasy football and have the first overall pick in a start up Dynasty ppr league. Who should I draft first? It is a snake draft...

Several ways you can go. Depends on scoring and starting requirements as KellysHeroes noted. You will probably want a top tier player at either RB or WR, but I saw Aaron Rodgers taken 1st in some very QB friendly leagues last year. There is a Dynasty start up thread in the SP, you might want to take a look at that, and here are some links from recent startups and mocks that you will give you some idea who is falling at 1.01 (couple of the mocks also have IDP but the first few rounds usually are about the same):http://football14.myfantasyleague.com/2012/options?L=25609&O=17http://football99.myfantasyleague.com/2012/options?L=61369&O=17http://football6.myfantasyleague.com/2012/options?L=76433&O=17&DISPLAY=CONFERENCE01&POSITION=*&FRANCHISE=0000http://football11.myfantasyleague.com/2012/options?L=17298&O=17http://football19.myfantasyleague.com/2012/options?L=61611&O=17

Thanks for the replies. My league will score this way. 0.5 points per reception, 6 points per rushing, receiving and passing TD , 1 point per 25 passing yards, 1 point per 10 yards rushing/receiving.

Now need to know roster requirements and league size, that will determine if u want RB or QB 1st. If 12 or under u should take RB, I would take either Martin or trich. If 14 or more teams I would take rodgers.

Take Calvin first and cash in at the end of the year.

There aren't many leagues where I wouldn't take Calvin first. Any 2-QB league I would take Rodgers ... but even 16-team leagues with one-QB VBD says it's better to take Calvin. Calvin at 22 PPG PPR is so much higher than the lowest scoring starting WR relative to Rodgers and the 16th best QB, even in 6 TD leagues.

I agree if standard league and just starting a dynasty Calvin is the choice (unless is start 2qb)here is mine:http://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=677040&st=0#entry15303403

I am amazed that Peterson was the first pick in four of the five drafts you posted. I didn't look at scoring/starters, but I can't imagine investing 1.01 in a 28 year old RB, even one as amazing as Peterson. I'd go Calvin/Rodgers. The one problem with taking Rodgers is it really hurts your flexibility if a quarterback falls and presents value later in the draft.

I have seen some more recent drafts where Calvin went first and one with Richardson. Taking ADP first is not that amazing IMO in that if you want to make the playoffs in the next two years he is probably the safest best - and with his physicality he could be a top 10 RB a couple years after that. As far as taking Rodgers early, yes a QB you grade about as high may be available later in the draft but maybe there won't be one you like nearly as well. In dynasty leagues you sometimes only get one shot at a player and that is in the startup draft, from that point on they may be untouchable (as far as acquiring in trade) so I can seeing taking Rodgers if you view him as hands down the top QB prospect (as many do, although I am not in that camp).
