Shark Pool Mock #2 - "What teams WILL do" - Spots open. (1 Viewer)

Andy Dufresne

Footballguy
Last time was a combo of what they will do and what you want them to do. This time, let's keep it as close as possible to what we think the team WILL do.

TRADES WILL BE ALLOWED. I can't see any way that teams like Miami, Arizona, and San Diego aren't looking to trade up to spots in the top 5 to get those tackles but we'll see what goes here.

I'd like to give those that participated in the first attempt the "right of first refusal" to do it again in this one. If anyone drops out then we'll solicit newcomers.

So...who's in? Who wants to be in if a spot is available?

I'll drop out of the Ravens #32 to let a homer draft for them.

I'd love to draft for the Steelers #17 if EG72 cant do it.

I'll stick with Bears. Switched to this username. For some reason the board was all weird for RBM after the switch to the new format.

I'd love to take a shot at the Packers since I seem so critical of everyone else's picks for them.

Andy, I won't be able to pick for San Fran this time around. I've got a busy week ahead of me and will be gone for long periods of time. I'd hate to hang the draft up waiting for me.

This should be pretty fun. Hopefully we can limit the "on the clock" trade waiting a little bit. It's going to require teams to either PM interest or not rather quickly in order to keep it moving.

I'll draft for the Vikings if the current owner doesn't want them.

I'll take other teams too if needed, definitely want in this and prefer more than one team if we can't fine enough.

I would be honored to pick for the Raiders again. However, if another Raider homer wants to jump in I'm ok with that. It would be nice to see a different perspective.

I think a trade down is more likely for the Phins...but I'd look to do either depending. 12 is not a good spot for their needs.

Only if they stay put and all the LT's are off the board.

But would you put it past Ireland to take D.J. Fluker at that spot?

From what I have been following, it doesn't seem like RT is one of the positions Ireland is after in the first. Also sounds like they think Johnson is a clear step below Fisher/Joeckel. Could be a smokescreen though.

One thing that I think might happen in the real draft, which I'm curious to see if it happens here (doubt it) is possibly multiple teams at the top of the 2nd trading up into the late 1st for qbs.

I have been lax checking up on the bigger picture so I probably need motivation to look into the rest of league and it helped me the last time we did our early mock so I'll be glad to select for the Cleveland Browns again to force me to do more homework.

I am hoping we establish limits both of knowing the number of rounds we have going in and of having a time limit during the weekdays. How about three rounds and during the times of 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM EST we establish a one-hour time limit to make picks. If someone knows they will be busy at work or won't have net access when they are scheduled to pick they can shoot you a list with a number of different options.

If they are due to pick at noon but they'll be out and four teams are scheduled to select ahead of them they'd leave a list with five players in descending order so when their pick comes up they are covered and we can continue uninterrupted.

Some other thoughts/suggestions.

For trades and for unpopular picks like QB Geno Smith, this mock is for what we think our teams will likely do. So teams in need of a QB would very likely take a QB even if the selector doesn't like that idea and for trades their will definitely be trades and some at the bottom of the first round will be from teams in need of a QB moving up from their second round picks to get a QB.

Other trades should be based on widely reported rumors. For instance, a team like Miami who is in dire need of an OLT and who has already been in preliminary discussions to move-up with Cleveland and Detroit it seems very likely they would move-up rather than move-down even if the fan picking for the Dolphins isn't keen on that idea. This mock is supposed to be what we think teams will-do rather than what the selector wants their team to do.

Its crucial when you make a trade note the picks exchanged so everyone can keep track. So if you trade the 24th pick in the second round for the 28th pick and some other picks in later rounds, when the third round starts check to make sure that the picks in the third round have been updated. If that trade isn't noted with the third round order then reply to the thread to note the trade so no-one gets confused.

Also lets make it easy for teams to know who has or hasn't been picked.

When you make your pick put your TEAM NAME and the numbered order of when you are picking and give a head's-up to the person picking next. Also when we go up to the next page in the thread, somebody please cut-and-paste the entire mock up to that point so we don't have to go back-and-forth between pages just to see who is up on the clock and who has or hasn't been picked.

I'd be happy to take any of the open teams. SD, SF, or Baltimore (even multiple). I've been looking a lot at the rookies for the Build a Franchise draft so I have a pretty good feel for who will go where I think.

Take Baltimore for now as that's the one that seems to almost never be filled for some reason.

I'll take Detroit and New England if we are taking multiple teams and want to get started.
I'll give you Detroit.

I'll take Philly for now. That pick is definitely for sale.

Also, Branden Albert is available for a 2nd round pick.

Rams 16th not necessarily available for trade, but the 22nd likely will be. I'll see where the draft goes for a bit, though. I believe the Rams trade phone will be busy with incoming offers on draft day.

Bears at 20 are hot for 2 prospects. Not interested in moving up but will be looking to move down if they are gone (which they prob will be).
