Baltimore - Inner Harbor area. (1 Viewer)

I'll be in Baltimore Monday night, flying out Tuesday and looking for a place around the inner harbor area for good seafood and a place to watch the game. It doesn't have to be the same place.. I'll have no car so it must be within walking distance, though I suppose a cab is an option...

Spent a couple of days in Baltimore back in May, we ate at Philips Seafood at the Inner Harbor. Family thought it was great. I've been craving the crab cakes ever since.

Sorry, can't help with the football game.

Bumping this. Going to be in Bmore with a large group this summer for my bach party staying in the inner harbor. Where are the best crab cakes? I love G&M but its too far. And i hear obrycki's closed. So whats my next best bet for crab cakes? Also, any other restaurants/steak places near the inner harbor we can do for dinner one night that would accommodate around 15-20 people?

Also, tips for nightlife are appreciated. Was thinking of checking out powerplant and fells point(been to both before and they were fun). How about strip clubs?

I'm calling the authorities. It's quite clear you've been kidnapped and are forced to enter this into your keyboard.

Heh. I'll let the B'More guys tell you where to go, but I lived half an hour away for a while back in the nineties and Fells Point was always fun for a night out, if a little rugged. Had a great record store at the end of the street that I loved. Can't remember its name for the life of me.

Regardless, I'm just kidding. Have fun and congratulations.

Mama's on the Half Shell has some pretty solid seafood. Never had a crab cake from there though. Was always partial to G&M. I remembered hearing that Jimmy's Seafood was supposed to have really good crabcakes and they are off Harford Rd. Could always do Phillip's which is where the ESPN Zone used to be, but they're nothing special.

As far as steak places near the harbor, there's Fogo de Chao, Prime Rib and Ruth's Chris. Little pricey, but all pretty solid. Can't go wrong with Fogo de Chao if you've never eaten at one before.

What kind of night are you looking to have? A nice chill night, I'd recommend Fells Point. If you're a big craft brew guy, Max's Taphouse is amazing. They have a huge selection of beers on tap. If you're looking to go wild, then Power Plant is the place to go. All the bars over there have covers, but it'll be packed and its basically a huge party scene there.

For strip clubs, could always try Scores. Never went to any there, but I heard they weren't really anything special.

I'm definitely out of the bachelor party demographic, but am happy to offer some general suggestions. A lot of the best places to go in Fell's Point probably can't accommodate a group of 15-20 very well, so I agree with the suggestions above about the steak places near the Inner Harbor. A little more touristy and a bit more $$, but also better suited for large parties. Although you might contact Thames Street Oyster House - they might be able to give you most of the upstairs as a private room. That's right in the middle of Fell's Point and the food is excellent.

Also, traveling with a group that big, I think you're better off doing Power Plant. Have you figure out a date yet? Might be fun to tie it in with an O's game - with 15 or more people you can definitely contact group sales and get some decent seats for a reasonable price.

All good suggestions so far. One thing to keep in mind about the power plant..it will be summer. It's been a few years since I've gone, but there are a lot of colleges in Baltimore and the hot girls that were there during the semesters takes a hit when school is out. "The block" is next to power plant, but I would not recommend going in any of those strip clubs.

By the stadiums and near the casino is The Goddess. It's ok. Hustler club will have the best looking girls and it's nearby.

I don't know the age or income level of your group, but Harbor East is the trendy place with new bars and restaurants. There is a Flemmings there too. It will be more expensive than power plant, fells point, canton or federal hill, but it's nice. Canton and federal hill are two more places to consider. They are set up like fells point with one bar after another for a block or two. I'd say canton is your early 20s crowd and Fed hill is a little older. Harbor East will be 30+.

Crab cakes are good just about anywhere you go. Don't kill yourself trying to find the best.

Thanks for the tips thus far. Any suggestion for daytime activities? The O's game is at night unfortunately. Trying to find something to do during the day. Is renting a boat an idea? Any day time vegas style pool parties?

When we were there, they had a speedboat that would hold groups of people. IIRC it would hold 25 people.

Flying into BWI Thursday afternoon. Need a spot for lunch before I drive to Salisbury. Where should I go? Want to try something new....

Hit The Narrows after you cross the Bay Bridge
I'll endorse this - you definitely don't want to go north of BWI for lunch since you're heading to Salisbury.

Nice to see some of the old Maryland crew here, @Uruk-Hai and @James Daulton, just missing @roadkill1292. Don't post a whole lot anymore, hope you are all doing well. Actually don't watch a ton of football anymore, for that matter, but will probably turn on the game tonight. Hundreds and hundreds of tickets available on StubHub, many for less than $30. Have never seen that, or at least not since the Memorial Stadium days.

:excited:

I was just thinking about you the other day and wondering where you'd got yourself off to.

I think @roadkill1292 is mostly posting in the political forum nowadays, though I rarely wander over there.

@James Daulton posts in just about every thread here and, from my brief scanning, is having affairs with at least two other FBGs.

I was in South County for Thanksgiving. Didn't get to Galesville, but ran the Bristol/Deale/Lothian/Harwood Gambit in record time.

Thanks for the summonses, fellow Baltimorons. I concur with GB Uruk on the cluster of restaurants at Kent Narrows. Wifey and I just had lunch at Fishermen's Inn this past Wednesday on the way to Easton for the holiday. I enjoyed my crab cake but I have plebeian tastes and the other three joints may be superior.

Yes, I have renounced American football but neither my sins nor Satan. I'm on a mission from God.

It's been a while since I've frequented the Kent Narrows eateries, but all were fine. The Narrows was a little more upscale than the others back in the day, but I don't know if they are "better" if you just want to throw down on some good MD chow. Fisherman's has been there since Hector was a pup and has, as far as I can recall, has always been fantastic. A fairly distant cousin of mine - blood-wise, though the families were closer than the tree if that makes any sense - opened and owns the Narrows.
