Need to draft with my brothers......

Money leagues mostly going well, teams are pretty much on auto pilot.

Out in survior leagues. :ptts:

Treading water @ Fandual. :deadhorse:

So I ask, What can we do for a playoff type draft?

Anyone else?

Ideas?

I'm in for this.

My suggestion: a weekly draft with keepers and knockouts - 8 teams wild card weekend, 6 teams divisional round, 4 teams championship round, 2 teams super bowl, standard FBG survivor scoring and lineups, no reserves. Can keep 2 players each week from the prior week.

Draft would be serpentine. WC weekend all draft spots would be picked randomly, but after that, teams would choose which spot they want - that order would be based on the prior week's scoring (so the high scorer would choose their slot first, etc.)

I'll put a link in the weekly threads starting with Week 14. Happy to run multiple leagues if we get more than 8 interested. We'll do them as "time slot" drafts - 30 minute slots between Wed - Fri (10am to midnight eastern). Can get ahead of the draft if folks are on top of it, but as long as we don't fall behind, we'll finish on time, with hours to spare.

As I mentioned above, if we have multiple leagues worth of interest, I'm open to running a bunch of them.

If you are on this list, PM me your email address, so I can setup MFL to run the league:

1 OldMilwaukee

2 Kardplayer

3 Bro1ncos

4 jeaton6

5 Stephen Holloway

6 FUBAR

7 Sweet Love

8 Bamac

If you aren't on the list and interested in playing, post here. If we get enough interest, I'll open a second league.

What format are we using? I like kard's suggestion except don't use drop outs. Total points for the "season". Understand that will mean 8 teams using sb teams, but that could add to the strategy and fun.

Not a big fan of not using dropouts when we get to championship games half teams won't have a QB and 3/4 of teams won't have QB in Super Bowl. Those teams that were lucky enough to guess right on Super Bowl teams will have a huge advantage. I know cumulative points helps with this to some degree but I think it will make this less competitive.

ok. I just don't like the idea that 2 teams get booted in the first week. Maybe keep 8 for two rounds, top 4 total points through 2 games proceed to the next, then 2 in the Super Bowl? Either way, this should be a fun, stress-free draft.

Here is the draft order and time slots for each pick.

Draft will be done on MFL. If the team before you misses their slot, you can make your pick on this thread. If we are ahead of pace at the end of the day Wednesday, I'll post new time slots here.

MFL picked the draft order:

1.01 1. Stephen Holloway 1.02 2. Bro1ncos 1.03 3. Sweet Love 1.04 4. FUBAR 1.05 5. Old Milwaukee 1.06 6. Bamac 1.07 7. Kardplayer 1.08 8. jeaton6

Thanks. Just to clarify you have to draft a full starting roster, ie people can't draft a second QB to block a team from getting a QB, correct?

Also, are players on first round byes available to be drafted ?

Good questions by jeaton and I'll ask about carry overs. Do we keep only two after this week? Assume is best ball and curious that it is 2 each at WR and RB. Can we get feed-back on this and jeaton above?

Good questions deserve good answers... hopefully these qualify :)

1. Draft only players from this week. I understand the strategic thought there on trading a Week 1 zero for a Week 2 hero, but let's keep this simple.

2. Only drafting starters - so no taking 2 QB's and there isn't best ball. If we had more time and less teams, would be interesting to draft reserves, but we'll already be pretty thin at #2 RB and #3 WR

3. Lineup is QRRWWWTKD, like Survivor series

4. Keep 2 was to make it simpler, but I'm ok if we make it keep as many as you want.

My :2cents: third wr should be flexed rb/wr/te

QRRWWWT - you do realize this is 7 players on offense, while teams only have 6 on the field at any time (5 OL). With equal # of teams in our league and the NFL, that seems slightly skewed.

Suggest QRWWTF, for 6 on offense. 8 rounds.

Agreed with this approach, 2 RBs, 3 WRs and a flex makes you have to dig pretty deep. That said maybe that's the point, not sure...

There's no flex, but if we want to cut the 3rd WR, I'm fine with that.

The 2nd RB is good, because it creates decisions.

QRRWWTKD not work for any one?

I agree with Fubar on the QRWWTF and a PK and DST for eight starters and eight rounds

Guess my vote would be for original lineups then. If we are going to have positional scarcity prefer it to be at RB and WR not just RB

yeah, that's why I like the :flex: but my key point is we shouldn't have more players on our pretend field than the teams do.

I can roll with QRRWWTKD, but prefer QRWWTFKD, even if the F is just WR or RB.

Cool and we are agreed on 2 keepers?
I'd like too see either A. 2 keepers

B. Keep as many as you want, but forfeit the round you selected the player in.

Prefer A.
I prefer A as well. Keeps it simple. If we are agreed on 2, I'm assuming it is mandatory 2 unless you lose more than 6 players?
I wouldn't make it mandatory, but if you don't want to keep two, make up the picks at the end of the draft. Suspect most will keep two if they can

Done.

Sorry about the delay back to kardplayer. Tried to pm him but got array error. Happy new year to all.

We're up and running again - we could be done today at this pace. No worries on the "delay" Jeaton... I put in draft slots exactly so folks don't have to stress about "delays".

Happy Lacy fell to me. Even in a 1 RB league, I feel like I need a quality RB to survive - that's what I get for drafting since the early 90's... Davis a slight surprise but probably shouldn't be.

Taking Gore with my second pick is an outright play at trying to lock up the flex spot. I feel like playoff drafts in general are a cr**shoot, so some level of certainty (ha!) is a worthwhile shot.

Will be interesting to see what falls to me in Round 3 - everyone feel free to grab the last few RB's :)
