I would wait for someone to transcribe this, but this is pretty wild: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ACj5vMU8cQ8

Implications here is that SC knew exactly who was modding likely from the very beginning.  And they didn't care.

This guy broke into the game to the point where he could tell you when your next gem box is coming to the second among a zillion other things.

There were some whispers out there that people knew how to know to read the apk to read what the war clan castle request said, as well as to know who was opted in/out of war so as to make hunting easier.  This guy went far beyond that it seems.

I've read some of the comments about this but haven't fought through the entire audio here.

Looks like supercell needs to invest in some server encryption.

I feel like the lack of attack diversity now is really hurting things.  At TH9 it's for the most part queen walk into a GoVaHo those really only fail to clean up for time.  you see the odd Laloon here and there and it's still strong but hardly used.

At TH10 the same first 200 or so troops is used every single time. 4 healers a #### ton of valks a few wbs then back end hogs/loons or just more valks.

You really can't experiment too much with other strats now due to the time sink and buff to xbows/wiz tower for more exotic air raids.  Air raids are a 1 or 3 type situation, valks, even if executed by someone that only halfway gets what is supposed to happen is 2*.

Some more anti valk type bases are emerging, but the same bases that are anti-valk aren't exactly weak to air raids.

Rumor is that TH11 may get an air buff, likely hounds.  It's pretty overdue imo.

Good luck guys!

Honda just drew a clan with 350 war wins :loco:

Remember these guys?

Well, they still haven't lost.

Up to 359 war wins and still have a 42 war win streak going.

I was impressed they only 2-starred two of our bases.

Cleaning up the area around my base after not playing for four months was oddly satisfying.

Any room in a clan?

If I was running Supercell and trying to maximize my profits I'd have a separate company create and market modding services for the CoC community.  That would explain why Supercell tolerated obvious modding for so long.

I'm pretty close to hanging it up. The competitive war scene is dying. Loads have moved on to royale or just quit this year. There isn't enough fresh blood in th9 to keep quality rosters.

Farm wars have become boring and without any real challenge left or anything to farm but walls I'm probably going to retire.

Some seem to be able to stay interested only doing 6 or so attacks a week. I'm not one of those.

Th 11 has no appeal at all really. So thats that.

Getting months worth of updates at once seems to help.  So now there is a TH11...

I dont see fbgs in clan search.

Came close, but got in a group that was on a next level of seriousness than me.  Went out and found good to great and sometimes amazing matchups and that really kept me in it.  The leadup to Friday was always intense.  Sunday crunchtime from like 1-4pm during NFL was the best, every attack meant something.  You'd be on voip with people in your clan watching your war on twitch, was surreal at times.

I think I'll land somewhere, for a time, then let it go.  There's just not the amount of new blood coming online that there needs to be to sustain something like that.

The back channels are saying the next update will be really fun and different.  Maybe so.

For all this talk about clash being dead and there only being farming clans, our group sure does run into groups of MFers on a weekly basis that come to play like a war win will get them into Heaven

We get about 1 in 5 vs good clans... And we loss everyone of those. Either a blowout win for us (5+ stars) or we lose a tight one.

Happy to hear this.

In 5 days when my bowlers finish I'll be completely maxed. With no more need for resources and matches in Legends taking over an hour my raiding days are over.

Only thing left is to get better at war. See you in gme.

We either face a layup or a slaughter.  We're getting slaughtered a lot lately.  I can't remember the last time we had a close war either way (win or lose).

I'll give it up for my clan mates, they are hanging in there and doing what they can to improve the balance.  We've been seeing level 10 clans regularly, and it shows.

Well, we're kinda defining good clans as "clans that beat us."

So, for one war in a row (but four fresh-hit attacks), I've been able to rip through TH9s (even one completely maxed base) with VaHo attacks - no golems and minimal wizards. The attacks usually last around two minutes.

Base troop composition:

14 valks
14 hogs
4 wizards
1 poison
3 heal
1 jump (maybe a rage)

Normal CC composition:

3 valks
3 wall breakers
1 poison

The remaining troop spots consist of 0-2 giants and/or 0-4 minions and however many more valks I can fit in. If there are corner huts, I'll add in an archer for each one I won't get during the opener.

Here is my overall strategy.

Step 1: Create a funnel.

First, use either minions or a giant and a wizard to take out one (or more) buildings on each side of a row of buildings.

Second, Deploy valks so that they will take out the remaining row of buildings (often from the outside in) and then turn in toward the base.

Finally, once nearby defenses have targeted valks, deploy CC so the wall breakers will safely reach the wall.

Step 2: Keep valks alive and get them farther into the center of the base.

Be ready with a heal and one or both poison spells when the opponent's CC comes out.

Use the jump spell to get valks deep inside the base. This keeps them from making their way out and taking a stroll.

Step 3: Use hogs to take out one side of defenses.

If the valks are going to the core, there will be defenses standing on both sides of their entry point. Use one heal on the hogs, and they'll be very successful in clearing out a side (or maybe two sides) of the base.

Use a wizard or two to clean up the trash buildings on that side.

Step 4: Use heroes (and maybe a wizard or two) to take out another side of defenses.

Obviously, your king will tank and clean the trash while the queen will take out the defenses.

Step 2.5 or 3.5 or 4.5: Use your last heal - probably on the valks.

You have to keep the valks alive. Once they carve out the core, the base is dead if you still have a good number of valks.

Once you get the funneling and spell placement down, this is a pretty easy attack. Here are some examples.

First run: 18/15 heroes against a max TH9 - done in 1:58

I also have a max TH9, but I wasn't sure how effective this attack would be. I knew I could get an easy two regardless of hero level, so I used this lower account. I used a few minions (along with an archer, which I put down a little late) on the left side of my funnel and a giant and wizard on the right side. I took a rage rather than a jump for two reasons. First, the heroes would pull my valks in and they would definitely go to the king pad and gold storage. More importantly, however, I figured their CC troops would be on the other side of that wall and pull my valks into the core. Hog deployment might have been a tad late, but I was watching my valks and dropped the second heal when I knew they would be going into the Tesla farm compartment. I was able to hold my last heal for a while and got insane value from it.

Second run: 18/15 heroes against a weak TH9 - done in 2:08

Created a really wide funnel here and poorly deployed the first two minions. The funnel was still ultra juicy and the valks were easily directed into the base. First heal and jump were dropped early to keep valks alive over the double bombs and directed into the core. Hog deployment was quicker here. Heroes were a bit delayed as I watched the direction of the hogs and valks. Might have dropped the final heal a bit early, but I knew that pack of hogs would take out the majority of the remaining weak defenses. I knew I had to get the heroes down and didn't want to lose several hogs while focusing on that part of the attack.

Third run: 30/30 heroes against max defense TH9 with low-20s heroes - done in 1:55

Another easy funnel but the king jumping outside the wall stalled out my valks a bit. They then triggered on the queen and zipped through a wall segment. I was sloppy with my jump spell, and it caused the valks to split. It can be difficult to find the bigger pack of valks in a split, but I guessed it to be the NE group and dropped the second heal as they fought through a wall. With all the time spent watching the valks, the hogs were late to the party, but they had a pretty clean run up the SW side of the base. Since the valks ventured up the NE side, the heroes didn't have much to do. I dropped them just to help finish off the base.

Fourth run: 30/30 heroes against an okay TH9 - done in 2:12

First off, there are many smallish compartments in the base, which - for me - makes it more difficult to hit with valks. On the heels of the last three attacks, I figured it would still work and did it anyway. The right side of the funnel was done with a single archer. The left side needed an archer (to draw mortar fire) and two wizards (because the first one targeted the wrong building. It was still a cheap funnel and worked well. I got unreal value from the jump. The hogs were tremendous in clearing out the NW and NE sides before falling to a double big bomb. The valks petered out, but the queen was able to finish off the last defense. Had cleanup troops all over the place - which is often the norm in this attack.

I don't expect this attack to 100% effective, but it is very powerful. Anyone with Level 4 valks and Level 5 hogs should have a high success rate with it.

Take hogs in your cc.   You don't need the wbs - when you drop your valks they will rip right through the wall.   3 valk5s are nice, but you can get 6 hog6 in that cc.

Also, you can usually skip the wiz - if your valks/hogs take out the defense, they'll almost always clean up.  Maybe pack a few archers if they've got huts in the distant corners.

Thanks for taking the time to post all that Clayton - can already think of one person that is really going to enjoy watching all of that a few times . . . Jonathan. He's been complaining about always running out of time on his mass Valk attacks. Think he's found the answer here.

You don't normally need 6 hogs on one defense with this attack, so it's better to be able to pinpoint the hogs. Backside loons are also an option in place of hogs depending on base setup.

https://clashofclans.com/blog/news/friendly-challenge

friendly challenges for practice, no resources used or lost. So what's to stop u from copying a base from a current war to have a clan mate practice his war attack on you 5x before they go into their war attack?

Or just copying a side of a war base to see what direction aq walk will take, wouldn't be as much of a time suck as copying the whole base.

also, 1 gem resource boosts coming soon.

So they are bringing legal sandbox attacks in now. All you have to do is have a clan mate copy an enemy war base and have at it.

I'm sure there are some clans nuts enough to copy a lot of bases but man would that be a lot of work.  And without good scout you don't have traps anyhow.  Love idea of being able to practice against legit war based though...hard to replicate in raids.

He is right though, unless there are some restrictions on this it is the end of "fair play" wars.

I don't want to practice on a base 10 times just to triple it in war, I want the planning and execution of the fresh hit 3. If I wanted to sandbox I would of had imod to begin with. (Jake did say basically this which I was nodding along with)
