The 100 - Better Than You'd Expect for the CW (1 Viewer)

It does have too much cheesy teenager drama, but it's better than Revolution and far darker (a lot of deaths) than I expected it to be.

If those whiny teenagers are our future we are ####ed. I liked the concept and the space station side is tolerable, but the idiot teenagers they sent to the surface can all die.

I'm hooked, being a CW show, I kinda knew there would be some teenage angst. I can overlook that, I like the concept and seems to be relatively well done so far.

Gets a lot of love from TV critics, especially for the various female roles. I think it improved over time, less teenage angst and more focus on survival and leadership.

I got halfway through the 2nd episode. :X so cheesy man.
Yeah the first few were that way. Once they find they aren't alone it starts picking up steam. Ultimately "There are no good guys" is what ends up setting it up as a good show for me.

I gave it a fair shot based on solid recommendations from trusted sources in the Netflix thread but didn't make it past the 4th episode. I think the last straw for me was when they captured an earth dweller, stripped his shirt off and tied him up and he looked exactly like a model from a teen magazine ad, complete with six pack, tats and designer jeans. Of course one of the hot chicks fell for him immediately.

I can't blame you for giving up, given the above. That stuff doens't go away- and if you can't get overlook it, the show definitely isn't worth your time (even though- again- the rest is pretty fun)

The first few episodes are rough. You're almost better off choosing a late Season 1 or Season 2 episode at random.

I tried to watch from the beginning based on a surprisingly positive review in Slate. Like you, I found all the teen show stuff completely off putting.

Since then, I've watched occasionally (never regularly). Just enough to know the broad outlines of what is going on. There is still some silly stuff. Allegiances change quickly for no other reason than to manufacture drama. But the show has admirably taken Clark from a pretty paint by numbers YA heroine and turned her into a deeply flawed, interesting anti-hero capable of truly horrible actions when she feels she has no choice. In season two, she allows her boyfriend to be executed and essentially commits genocide when she feels she has no other options. And the show is pretty good at letting you know she feels the weight of those decisions.

to be fair, she executes him herself.

eta: and she commits a sort of genocide- or at least, extreme mass-murder TWICE

Kinda sad after the enjoyment I got from the previous seasons... that first episode for this season was just god-awful and has me walking away.

Unless somebody says the second episode gets much, much better

What didn't you like about episode 1?

dammit.

I stuck it out. AI annie's constant quick head turn and head #### thing were just awful. pretty much the whole thing. awful.

when does the next season start?!

In order to enjoy this show, there's a lot of questions you just can't ask.

I'm through episode 2, and I think I like the concept more than the show at this point.  But I'm going to give it a chance.

The only thing I can't get past is that they seemingly just dropped 100 random kids to "see what happens".  You wouldn't send a doctor?  A scientist?  A survival specialist of some kind?  I can't imagine any of those types of people that wouldn't BEG to go on a mission like that.

It's all about being a canary. The population is running low so those specialists are not worthy of canary status. 100 ragamuffin rugrats are the canary subjects.

I gave up after season 2. Haven't watched 3.

Love this show. I just watched it all again on Netflix. I love how main characters aren't safe. I'm looking forward to next season.

The finale is still on my DVR. This season was s h ! T but still the best show on a broadcast network.
the finale completely sucks fwiw.... but is still awesome.

let's talk after you see it.

eta: can't wait to see who's double-crossing and getting it on with who next season! nice edit, nick

So wrong GB. Great finale!  Love the setup for next season. 4 (!) mysteries (what happen to Wonkru, what happened in space, wtf is this true blood girl with Clarke, who are these sky prisoners) and Wanheda has a hot new haircut. GREAT tv!

almost the entire thing was "can they get to the bunker/space-ship" in time. people tripping, obstacles arising out of nothing, the works. it was terrible.

but... yeah- I like where it's going. was wondering whether they'd do a 5-years-later jump, and I like that we've got a new prisoner crew.. sorry- kru. but also thought they'd be able to get a lot of potentially interesting story out of both groups- space and bunker that I guess we'll only guess in flashback or exposition.

also love that they've essentially killed off the human race, except of the interesting or hot people.

Well... yeah.

You also had near suicide, selfless hand exposure to radiation, evil character redemption (twice!), hottie space walk, almost suffocation of entire Rokitkru (look it up), near death of the show star after almost duh romantic hookup and then selfless sacrifice? And then, THEN, radioactive cloud storm resulting in face melt.

You may expect too much from your teen tv.

Going to rewatch this last season on the subway now that it's on netflix.  I didn't really pay much attention to it while watching at home.

raise your hand if you wandered in here via the  G.o.T.  thread

:hey:

on a 1-10 scale - recommendation for binge watching on Kodi?

and, most importantly - is the quality of tail even in the G.o.T. ballpark?
