golf allowed in NY and PA, but not NJ. And no timetable at all was offered in Murphy's "plan" that was unveiled today.

Pretty sure I wont be able to play for at least another month. Total horse ####.

Only problem with fitting is they have you at your mercy. You do the fitting. #’s don’t lie. Obvious what your choice is. Then they tell you the price as you’re pulling out your credit card. $2600 for irons? Uhhh, sure.
This about sums it up nearly to the dollar.

But man am I play better...

That sucks.

Golf has been the sole activity I can still enjoy while still remaining totally in line with the covid-19 precautions and social distancing.

Its absolutely absurd.

Anyone with a brain knows that golf could easily be played safely. (especially for someone like me, who generally plays at off-hours either alone or with 1 person at a private club and almost never uses a cart)  But the bottom line is that we have a democratic governor up for reelection and no NJ democrat has won a 2nd term as governor since 1978. Murphy doesn't want to be seen as catering to the "rich golfing community" while "forcing others to stay home".

The second golf is allowed, he'll start hearing cries of "well then why cant WE have a BBQ" or "why can't WE hold church services". He'd rather not deal with the headache.

courses are starting to open back up in the bay area, I'm booked to play in napa on wednesday :towelwave:  but I never did upgrade my push cart. :wall:  I have a ####ty 20 dollar one that will have to work for now as it seems every push cart in the US is sold out except for ebay where they are all marked up. It's unbelievable that they every online retailer is sold out 😡
where in Napa?

The bold is me as well. Super covid safe.

Golf opens Friday (PA), So our league starts next Wednesday. Masks must be worn when inside. Social distancing when playing. One person per cart. They’re using a pool noodle in place of a flag, so you don’t have to touch the flag or retrieve your ball. Hit the noodle, it’s in.

Do you know how hard I'm hitting putts if that's the case

They finally came to their senses and opened NJ golf courses and parks starting saturday morning. Still waiting on the restrictions.

Of course, the very first 2 tweets in response to the announcement......one dude asking to open gyms.....another asking to open schools. People REALLY dont see the difference.  Its pretty scary.

Wow, went from 88 being an off day to firing a 100 today. 5 weeks of no golf brought the rust, especially walking as both my knees are shot and it made it a little tougher. I can’t wait to get out again in a few days but I miss the #### out of the driving range.

5 weeks lol

I haven’t been able to play since November

Like a full pool noodle?

My course has the bottom couple inches of the noodle then a mini construction flag. It sucks to not have a high flag to look at on approach but it’s kept putting normal.

Haven’t seen it yet, but just the bottom makes sense. Half the league is already #####ing (typical). I’m just looking forward to some beers and a few decent shots mixed in with the crappy ones.

Our course is opening but being strict.

No putting green or driving range. The pro shop, snack shop and bar closed. You have to wait in your car 10 minutes before tee time. Once finished you have to leave.   I would hope some type of bathrooms are open....

Not sure I will play this weekend

Havent heard any of these restrictions. How/where are you going to pay? Our course just said to wear a mask whenever going inside. Hadn't even thought of the bar possibly being closed.   Will need to bring some beers just in case.

You have to book online. To start they are only allowing members, so everyone is already technically paid.

This could be a course by course decision

Golf league guys ##### about anything.

Just need to be happy to be playing. It’s really not that. I’ve played ten rounds now probably and it really only impacts chipping slightly.

My dad is on the board of his club and its true that guys literally ##### about EVERYTHING. One dude is FURIOUS that he wont be allowed to sit on the deck and drink a scotch after his rounds this week.  I'm pretty confident that at least 50% of club golfers' only goal is just to delay getting back to their wife and kids for as long as possible.

One dude sent anonymous profanity-laced letters to our groundskeeper last year #####ing him out for the state of the greens like 3 days after they were punched. Another one pulled out all the hole plugs on the green and filled them with sand this winter in protest of the temporaries.  (our club is basically closed all winter, regardless of weather and just puts a stake out in front of the green as a "pin" for anyone who wants to play. Other clubs open the greens if they have good weather for a few days)

People are nuts.

Idiots

I'm stunned I'll have a full crew.

Some of these guys have some issues.  I think they are tired of not playing

Although its great that NJ is allowed (starting Saturday) the restrictions they've put in place will make it a total #### show.

- Tee times only every 16 minutes (probably double what it normally is most places)

- Groups will be limited to two players, unless a foursome consists of immediate family members, caretakers, household members or romantic partners.

So basically, if you assume ALL groups of 2 and you think you send the first group out at 8 and then can get a group out at 4 and finish on time (iffy due to darkness) you're looking at 60 people total. For clubs with hundreds of members, this is going to be a nightmare. Obviously nobody is going to shed a tear for private golf club members, but its gonna be a cluster ####.

Even if they did two shotgun windows at like 8 and 1:30 (not even sure if that's allowed) you're talking 72 people total (plus whoever else can qualify as a 4 some)

Just found out that our course is not allowed to sell alcohol or even have it on the property because of some takeout rules right now. Mentioned searching coolers. This should be fun.  :lmao:

I have something like this. It's black.  I put it in my bag next to my driver until we get going.

No one has ever said anything.

I don't do it often but usually on a trip.

My home course (back 9 only) opens today, and it feel like Christmas morning.  Threesomes every twenty minutes.  Raised cups.  Walking preferred but if you need a cart, you ride alone.  Looking forward to forgetting everything I've been working on in the basement and back yard over the past 6 months.

Ordered a new bag, Taylormade flextech crossover stand bag, I was way over due. Gb military discount. I also found a new favorite golfer, hyun ju yoo. She has no middle name On Instagram according to a friend :oldunsure:

Fitting is pretty much a scam for most players, designed to separate you from your money by preying on people's desire for an easy fix. Spend the money on lessons instead. Once you get to the point of a fitting really making sense (read: consistently repeating swing that you are not actively working to change), you can do it yourself with a board (clipboard will do) and impact tape. You can get your swing speed by testing a driver at just about any golf retailer.

ETA: Impact tape is good to have, anyway.

AZ is four-balls but walking and riding without a passenger are strongly encouraged.*

*Which means people are just riding together as normal.
Where do you play?  I'm in Gilbert and play Trilogy at Power Ranch 2-3 times a week.  good golf course.  I have played Whirlwind(Indian casino), Dobson Ranch,  Wigwam, San Marcos, Lonetree, Quintaro, & a bunch of others down here.  A virtual golfing mecca.

Not sure I'm down with riding carts.

Used to play regularly in Napa at Chardonnay and Napa Golf Club. Some wild eccentric locals at NGC. Loved that scene. Shame that Chardonnay had to close 18 of the 36. That place was fun and always cool to play through the middle of vineyards.

So someone dimed out our course about foursomes so last night they had to switch it so we scrambled. Ended up 4 guys just decided to bail to make it easy.   And it's kind of dumb. If I'm golfing with 3 other people I know, I'm sure we would stay away from each other

They allowed walkers today.  So for the first time in a longgg time I walked and carried my bag.   Hit some really good shots, a couple really bad shots.  For not playing for a while I slapped together an 84. I'll take it. I found my groove mid round and my driver fell apart the last 2 holes all of a sudden. Cost me a couple shots the last 2 :(

so they put noodles in the cup about 1 inch below the cup. Work well.  I still argue the noodle cost me a lip out :P

got done in just over 3 hours. That's the best part

They are mandatory weekend mornings for us

I belong to a club in Flagstaff and in Lake Havasu City. I'm a "closet member" at Mesa County Club (i.e. BIL is a member and I play as a guest pretty often and in all their tournaments and stuff). He also lives in Gilbert.

For public options Trilogy is definitely the best in that area (usually their greens are nice). I've played all the other ones you mentioned  as well - love Whirlwind. In your area for public options I'd also highly recommend Dinosaur Mountain at Gold Canyon and The Legacy in south Phoenix.

I've gone from a 10.8 to 8.4 in the three months of play since getting my fitted clubs.

I don't disagree with the lessons comment, but I don't think the science of fitting a player and his unique specs to the ideal clubs and shafts for those specs is a "scam."

I'm not talking about single-digit handicappers. I'm talking about the bulk of the market, who are not single-digit and do not have repeating golf swings. Those people just need to get used or cheap game-improvement clubs and take lessons. They don't need to be fit into a thousands of dollars worth of equipment.

Ah, gotcha. And agreed. Just get used cavity-backs that are close to the right length then take a bunch of lessons.

Eagle vine took over the closed portion

And re-routed the nines a few years back?
Yeah, I still haven’t played eagle. I can’t wait to get both knees scoped when this is over so I can walk all the time. Walked the kennedy course last week and my right knee still hasn’t lost all its swelling.

One piece of advice for Eagle Vines: carts don’t have GPS and the course doesn’t come up on my Ghost rangefinder, so be sure to get a yardage book in the pro shop. Lots of blind shots out there.

Thanks, I have the SwingU app that gives me yardage but I’ll take a book out for sure.
