GM's Thread About Everything/GM's Thread About Nothing (19 Viewers)

Update if you care and I've been an absence friend  so cool if you don't.

Cal:  He turns 15 next month. Total mess. Been in and out of the hospital recently including on my birthday. (I don't care about the date but thought maybe I get some sympathy.) He's still kind in the heart but throwing darts at meds has been the suck.  He was as previoulsy mentioned suspended from school for telling his teacher, vice-principal & principal, they are "f-ing #######s and somebody deserves to be fired for how poor they are at education".  Kind of funny when I write that  out. Thanks to his meds he's hard to motivate and also thanks to it he likes to physically challenge me. As I type he's almost 6'1 248.  Had to take him down a couple times. By that I mean he has taken swings at me and I hold him down.  Good thing I'm a bad mother####er.  Started a new med yesterday. It really seems to be helping but I witnessed him freaking out over nothing. I'm concerned :lmao: I'm not going to quit on him.

Dylan: He's chugging along and the most perfectly sane uninjured part of the family. He plays now plays soccer and basketball in addition to baseball.  He's not great at any of them but he's a rebounding machine. Just got his hair cut to look like "a surfer kid". He catches a bunch of #### because of Cal but he handles it like a pro. My heart swells as I write that because he's so understanding.  Dumb kid.  By dumb I mean he excels in school too.  Dylan just turned 12 and is 5'9 120. He also has my beautiful soft blond hair. ****.

Pep: Well, we haven't gotten along very well the last couple of years.  Having an Autistic kid going through puberty and a wife going through menopause isn't easy on the family unit. Plus Pep has five, yes 5, bulging discs in her back that she has been dealing with forever. I'm going to speak for Dylan when I write that I feel bad that we would escape to the patio or "the path" to BS while  things calmed down. With the opioid epidemic her pain management doctor is afraid to prescribe her percs so now she's really feeling it. Good news is that she's going to finally have surgery to fix it.  I'm totally going to play  "head doctor". Girls like that stuff right?

Me: Well, times have been trying. In addition to the previously posted updates I ####ed up about a year ago sending an e-mail through linkedn  that was intercepted by management and taken the wrong way.  They thought I was  going to leave the company and #### them over. I took a while but to convince them to remember I was the one that wanted to sell to them so I could, hopefully, finish my career there. I still can't believe that was a thing. So I've spent my time mostly sober actually.  There are too many things that can happen at any time. Pretty drunk and stoned right now though.

I have a family member who could no longer get her opiate prescription for similar reasons and started using Kratom. No joke, hasn’t even wanted an opiate since she started.  And was on 4-6 Norco a day for a decade or more.

Highly recommend.

It’s early.  Airport 5k at 8 and then clearing gutters of shingle debris at home on tap after that.  Good times.
Your day may well be more fun than mine. I just got back from the grocery store and realized I have nothing left to do other than water the house plants. Guess I could start packing for Mexico.....

Thanks for the updates bob. Sorry Cal's having a rough go...can't imagine what it's like for you and the Mrs. Happy to hear about Dylan. Pep? I forgot about that one- kid or sister? Back pain isn't good. Blackdot for Henry's option. Has your life at work returned to normal?

Eta...I wanted to like/love your posts, but didn't feel right hitting that button.

Been a rough couple weeks at work where it's felt like nothing's gone right, highlighted by one of my projects 3rd denial by the city's Landmarks Preservation commission yesterday that has stalled the projects start date and upset the clients and worried my micromangey boss who wouldn't even talk to me yesterday. When I left late last night as what I thought was the last person in the office, I saw he was interviewing someone- didn't turn to acknowledge me as I left. Heart's in stomach as I fear getting canned over this. Feeling like ####- for that, and permeating my feelings about all the work I've been doing there. It's not my perfect job, but it's a good job for me...and after the last go around I don't know if there's another one as good out there at my age. :(

Hang in there

As a PSA to everyone in this thread...never send any messages over LinkedIn of any specific nature and that means don’t respond if anyone reaches out over LinkedIn.  Names, phone numbers, and emails are there for a reason (take it off LinkedIn).  A lot of companies monitor that #### since it’s so easy these days.

That actually is funny.  I’ve been tempted to say that to multiple colleagues over the years.

I appreciate the recommendation but she needs this surgery and so happy she is finally getting it done.

Things have gotten better the last couple of months as she has made a concerted effort to be nicer.  I think a lot of it is that she finally see's that she can be better and not it constant pain all the time.

Absolutely. Long term pain is horrible and we do a terrible job of treating the emotional side of it. It typically leads to a loss of hope, depression, bitterness, anger, etc. It will totally change a person.

I hope the surgery works for her and makes a huge difference for you guys

Pep aka Mrs. SLB.

It has been a year since the incident and things are back to normal.  Still mad at myself though.

With how much that fire is raging in that video, gotta wonder how much is going to be left. Tragic.
maybe if we get some flying water tankers in there everything will be ok

seriously, though, what the ####. looks like it's under construction. wonder who tipped over a gas can near their cigarette :(

Not fired.

Yet. Boss wasn't in today and hasn't replied to my emails. I've barely been able to eat or sleep since Friday.
Have you ever considered switching to Construction Project Management?

i was in design (Mechanical/HVAC/Plumbing) for years and suffered through a lot of can’t eat can’t sleep stressed out times.

Became a PM about 10 years ago, it’s so much better...now I hire the Architects/Engineers for one thing.

Get email alerts when concerts or Disney on Ice or whatever are coming to the Moda Center - Right of First Request as part of being a Blazers season ticket holder.  Usually ignore most of them, but it came in VERY handy when I bought tickets to Radiohead.

I'm not often surprised at what tickets cost for some of these performers; usually makes sense and I'm not appalled that concert tickets are in the $100 range now for good acts.  But I was not at all prepared to read that the cost to go see Bryan Adams starts at $95.  NINETY FIVE!  To see a guy who should probably be playing county fairs and tribal casinos.  Wow....

Let me know if you want to go.

that includes a meet-n-greet session with autograph, photo with him and a Braille reading of his face.
